What I meant was he's not really breaking that first tackle. He'll drag a couple guys but he's not going to make anyone miss. McMillan and McKenzie have that extra ability that Sam is just missing and it showed once they got into the game.

Rogers Goes down at first contact?
You may say a few negatives about his running style but, down at first contact is not one of them. I think we've established that he'll carry on until someone trips him.

I'd like to have seen Rogers run through a Teller-hole.

On a side note, did anyone else feel like the offense wasn't as fast as talked about. Comparatively for me when I watch Oregon you can feel the speed of which they get on the line of scrimmage and get a play off.

We will never be as fast as Oregon. We may be able to pick up the pace here and there and maybe sprint to their level but will never be that fast. Fuente is going to pace the offense to not tire out the defense over the course of the game. We are practicing and will plan to run clock when needed. We're likely going to look like UNC in that regard.

Oregon got a reputation for going fast but Baylor has the most plays per game in 2015 at 85 per game followed by Texas Tech, TCU, Tulsa, and Boise State all in the lower 80's per game, Oregon was 19th in plays per game

Memphis ran 79 plays a game. 36 points yesterday was a good game, but hope we learn a lot from it. Evans was 20 of 32 passing, there were a few passes in there that we need to improve on and then its a great offense

Was our offense as vanilla as it looked? I could only catch the first half of the game cause I was at a wedding but a lot of the plays looked pretty similar? Fuente holding back a bit and just doing enough to win so he can unleash the beast on the 10th?

We don't recruit against Uva very much. And that's not Broncos strength, so that won't change much.

By recruits against UNC, ut, Clemson and Fsu more

McMillan and McKenzie look slippery as RBs. You have to play them going forward. Their ability to break and avoid tackles will wear a defense down over the course of a game. Rogers is great but he's a straight line runner who is going down at first contact.

Evans had me worried in the first quarter. Very worried. But he settled down nicely and started delivering some great passes by the end. We have to be able to hit those deep routes, though, and they weren't even on the same page for most.

Defensively I liked what I saw. Stroman was a man out there. Keep making plays like that and he'll be getting paid at the next level. Motu had a great game as well. He reacted very well to misdirection and made the tackle when needed. His reaction was one thing that severely lacked last year and if he's improved there, we might have sealed up our biggest hole. We'll see this week.

And UVa is terrible. It's one thing to lose to an FCS opponent but it's another to get blown out by one. I don't understand how any good recruit would want to go there and get embarrassed like that. They're probably at least 3 years of solid no miss recruiting away from even being a bowl team. Ugly stuff up there.

I also feel that 95 of the time we had a jet sweep coming the WR or TE took the ball. The other 5 was a fake to pass. Wish we faked the jet sweep to give it to the RB more.

I got no problem hatin' on a dog if the dog is a Tennessee fan

I also noticed the lack of false start and delay of game penalties. What a relief. I did notice a few times I was looking for the replay on the board and team was lined up taking another snap before replay ever started. 200 yards rushing is nothing to sneeze at. I believe the difference between coaches is how we arrive at that total. We ran several sweeps and end arounds. Sam is not an every down back, but some of this to me was scheming. Was surprised that McMillan was on scrub duty with Motley. Shai made good use of his few carries. I think personnel groups were dictated to saving things for Bristol game. My 2 cents.

Our running game started to look pretty good with McMillan and McKenzie carrying the ball. Those 2 need to be our 2 deep at running back the rest of the way and leave Rogers to FB duties.

Defense looked well-schooled and buttoned down. Guys looked like they
knew where they needed to be. Pretty refreshing after last season.

Offense looks like it has lots of potential. Evans has talent and some of those
passes were something. Also like the fact carries are getting spread among
several backs.
