He'd have to sit out 2, but I think one could be a redshirt, and in 2018 he'd still have 2 years of eligibility left, I believe.

Unless he goes by way of a junior college, he won't go to BC. Not likely that we'd grant release to an ACC school and if he did, he'd have to sit 2 years I believe.

There was so much that Lawson is going to have to unlearn from what he was taught under Loeffler to get into the Fuente system that it really doesn't hurt us at all. He's got 3 years of eligibility left, and even if we redshirted him, and retaught him everything he needed to know about the role, he'd still be behind Evans next year, and then he'd have to beat out Jackson, Hooker, and possibly Ellis in 2018 to even have a chance.

He came here to be THE guy, and its clear he likely won't be. I wouldn't be surprised to see him transfer to BC to continue learning under Loeffler. At least it won't be a complete rebuild up there.

Loeffler never coached Newton and he was a Grad Assistant with Brady (kinda hard to give credit for that one).

What comment are you referring to?
As much of a fan as I am of Lawson, seemed like there was a tough road
for him to get playing time in the next few years. Will be interested to
see how he does in JUCO.

Don't think the release will be a problem. Will probably prevent going to an ACC school, but that's a standard. Watch out for South Florida, UCF, Florida Atlantic/International.

Plus, he's got Loeffler stink all over him

So baffling, considering how Loeffler produced the likes of Brady and Newton.

Wish him all the best. We pulled him from Miami, messed up his red shirt, hope the school fairly considers granting him a release.

He probably thought there would be a legitimate competition for the starting spot in the fall. After Day 1, it was likely made very clear to him that whatever competition there would be would not include him.

Its a shame, the kid has talent, but we're just so loaded right now. Plus, he's got Loeffler stink all over him

I don't know why but I feel like this doesn't really hurt after getting Evans, Jackson and Hooker. Losing depth isn't good but he probably would have been a redshirt this season anyways. Initially I felt like Lawson would be the next Tyrod and step in and play well right away, which of course is an unrealistic expectation despite his size and talent. Maybe some others thought this way/had some hope for that too, but after listening to Fuente make the recent comment about him, it just doesn't seem like Lawson is all there mentally or from a maturity standpoint. Good luck to him, unless he goes to Miami and matures and starts beating us.

Also soon as I read this, this song popped into my head. Happy Yacht Rock Friday!

I was always pulling for Lawson. Best of luck to him during this journey- I really hope he can find a place and really get his feet on the ground.

This is all Scot Loeffler's fault.....maybe he transfers to BC

Obsessing? That sounds like an exaggeration. Dude was a talented player that at one point many believed would be the face of the team. They didn't want to lose him and feared we might. One person started laying into that opinion and suddenly the mockery appeared on every thread.

Something he saw when he got to practice maybe? Time/media will tell.
