Have no problem gaming the system to get them for free, I appreciate a voice that has no inherent reason to put on Hokie colored glasses, and who has direct comparative experience with other major P5 programs.
I want the best idea of the program that I can, the street level nitty gritty analysis you can only find here, the nice long view of the history I think TSL does well, the beat writer view in AB, and the national perspective from ESPN. All have their own pros and cons and I like getting them all to get the best picture I can.
Along with a goodly helping of trash talk, dank memes, and actual fun talk on R/CFB.
If you're on the same router, it can be detecting the IP address. If you're using a browser like Chrome that syncs across devices, that contains the same cookies and browser data.
I noticed something weird...when I got the "cool it" message, I tried to vote on my iphone and rec'd the same message. How can a different device be linked to the one I was voting on?
He didn't call him a jerk if I remember, he said it was a jerk move. And while I understand the team comes first, I really don't think it would have killed Buzz to let them know he would be a while. Never understood why TKP killed Bitter and Barber for what they said.
I hope they can keep some momentum next year. This has been a really crazy year to watch and I hope it's drawing more viewership globallu
I am not in agreement with that at all. Where did they think he was? It was obvious he was in talking to his team, and he didn't know how long it was going to take. It was just going to take how long it needed to. And your job is to report sporting news, so shut the fuck up and do your job. Why are you complaining you had to wait an hour midday to ask some questions? Bitter's perspective that the media is entitled to their time before anyone else including the team is WAY offbase and frankly bullshit. Reporters are entitled to watch a game for free. That's it. Everything else that you are allowed as access is a gift that goes two ways. And the dude wasn't even there, was just bitching about the entitlement he thinks the media has.
To top it off he gives a "sorry not sorry" explanation which was the nail in the coffin for me. I used to be a big supporter of his, but I don't support anyone that thinks they are more important than the team of students they are getting paid to watch and regurgitate stats about. His objectivity was what made him stand out for me but he decided to cross that line and in the most immature, 5 year old hissyfit way. Screw that.
Make sure you're following the new account "HokiesFB"
Sleeping in?

That's all I got.
Stumblin', bumblin', one bar facemasked, Joe Kapp?
Loved the guy.
I'm glad I already reserved the JackClick4Heisman.com domain, plus gotta love the 804 roots
pretty soon, web traffic will make it rain!
What a tool.
any good prospects for next years draft? Because lets go Braves!
The last two snaps I have seen showed a hokiestone wall and said something about a new snap, but ended without proceeding to the videos. I thought I needed to update the app, but that didn't help. I had no problems prior to around last week or so. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? I'm no expert at snapchat, only got it for VT coverage.
The numbers will definitely be more than they were under Beamer, although the numbers under Beamer were increasing every year as well. Were already at 160 offers for the 2017 class. In 2015 Beamer sent out 132.
The biggest difference with Fuente is him going after kids from Alabama. Between this class and last class hes sent about a dozen offers there, which I'd bet is more than Beamer ever did. Will be interesting to see if we can actually pull someone from there
And not to pile on AB personally, he was sympathetic. When he first posted here he would give links to both RT and the VP, but said he quit giving the latter because of the pay wall
I think everyone is in agreement that Buzz could've/should've been a little more considerate, and sent a text to someone in the athletic department asking that they give a heads up to the reporters. That being said, Bitter didn't need to stoop to name calling.
I used to be a big fan of RT VT coverage, because when I moved to Roanoke from Bburg it was the best available. By the time we moved from Roanoke the Internet had been invented, and RT sports for the VT coverage was the first online media I really followed. I still looked at their stuff online until I hit the first paywall looking at Bitter's articles. Removed the bookmark, and now only see it if linked here. I like bitter's stuff, and read everything, but like the coverage here better. I am not into figuring how to beat a paywall. Don't even use access shared by others on principle. If I want it I don't mind paying for it, but you need to make it easy to do and worth it. Won't pay RT because not worth it, did not pay here till I did not have to get PayPal or mail a check to do it. Guess I'm the worst of both generations - Lazy and low tech.
Plus, I am not going to lie, I am still very upset at Bitter for not supporting his audience during #GameDay4Frank. He was pessimistic about the entire thing, and seemed relieved when ESPN axed the social media campaign. Take your audiences seriously
Bitter's job is to report unbiased information, not feed us what we want to read. He has said repeatedly that he has no emotional attachment to the teams he reports on, and that he wishes for success for the team purely because it makes his job more interesting.
That's the main difference between Bitter and TKP. Bitter just reports the news. TKP analyzes it and provides commentary.
Sox fan.
Concerns: middle of the rotation, LF, Koji and an aging Ortiz
Excited about: Bogearts/Betts/Bradley, Price, Kimbrel and cautiously optimistic about Hanley.
Prediction: 88-74, 1st WC.
Braves can't be any worse than they were last year... right?
Ruh roh, I think I just tempted fate.
Go Cubs
I lost all respect for AB when he basically called Buzz Williams a jerk after the West Va. Game and even when I emailed him about it, he said he stood by his comment. That told me ALL I needed to know about AB.
If y'all don't know this already, this is a main reason that journalism is starting to fail in academia today. Mass COMM departments are starting to dump the title "School of Journalism" and/or "J-Schools" because traditional journalism is dying. Jobs are dying, professors aren't keeping up, and students have lost interest. What makes matters worse is that Newspapers refuse to adopt into the new industry fully. We have grown to individual niche markets, and people haven't been reading stories that are too broad anymore. For instance, I subscribe to the key play because it is exactly what I am looking for, they keep up on social media, and they give me the option to pay. Plus, they are seemingly more well informed and better in depth than Bitter. This ploy to make people pay for articles will alienate audiences, and it should fail miserably.
Plus, I am not going to lie, I am still very upset at Bitter for not supporting his audience during #GameDay4Frank. He was pessimistic about the entire thing, and seemed relieved when ESPN axed the social media campaign. Take your audiences seriously, Bitter. In this day in age of journalism in digital media every piece of literature suggests that YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL ANYMORE. Your audience is, and it's time that you and the Roanoke Times realize this before your readers find their niche markets.
Oh snap. That's a heck of an idea and I did not know it was possible.
Thanks.

I'm shocked to see UNC that low, I would have thought that they would be in the top 3
