Fair enough. I know he has all the talent in the world, I just don't think it was fair to him to get thrown into action for a few snaps and waste a whole year if he wasn't ready to see the field. Lefty didn't pull Ford's redshirt in '14 for a few snaps when Brewer was banged up and Motley had injury concerns as well, although he came close. My point is he was going to ride with Motley as long as he stayed healthy because of experience. Durkin could've backed him up adequately, and barring another unforeseen injury, keep the shirt on Lawson if you don't yet trust him on the field.
I've been in contact with the athletic department recently, hoping to get access to practices this summer so I can do some in-depth filming on the practice fields and weight room. If I get approval, expect a crazy-good hype video a few days before Bristol.
Bucky you gooood on bully
Some of my guesses (documented here, so I can laugh at them later!)
Holt -- Shouldn't be playing that much, better 3x-4x a week, not 6x. Young will have to face too many RHP'ers, which will dilute his platoon strength. Sox add a LF'er at the deadline, hopefully Reddick.
Koji -- Too old, his "general soreness" this spring is a huge red flag. DL'd by May 1, less than 20 IP for the season. Generally, a non-factor in the bullpen (I think Barnes has a great year in the Pen and emerges as the #3 guy by August)
Papi -- Again, too old. Some leg or lat issue will sideline him for a few months. Doesn't get to 20 HRs in his last year.
Positives:
Betts -- Competitor for batting title, hits more HR's than Ortiz. McCutcheon'esque season.
Xander -- Still doesn't have huge HR numbers, but hits 40 2B's. Pushes for 375 OBP with a SLG over 450
JBJ -- Shows good pop, 20+ HR's. Looks a bit like a young Curtis Granderson w/out the triples.
Kelly -- Actually pretty good, biggest problem is that he's a 5IP pitcher. #3 starter throughout the year.
I'm not sure what to expect of Shaw, probably pretty average production. Panda may end up with prolonged periods where he is the starter. Shaw may slide over to 1B a good bit as well. Pedey will probably give the same season he's had recently, some DL time but weeks where he is the best player on the field. Hanley will be much better at the plate and palatable at 1B, but is still an injury concern.
I love seeing highlights, and perhaps we've been spoiled by the work of Billdozer and MStrawther, but that was a pretty weak edit for a video. His instagram criticizes how the current staff "runs a shit IG" so I'd expect a lot more out of someone so critical. Still, highlights are fun, but I'll get hype once Billdozer releases his.
I'm going to be contrarian here and say that burning his shirt was justified. Look at the situation, we had our starting QB out with a broken collar bone that required surgery, sure Brewer bounced back quick, but he might not have. At the same time Motley has been a bit injury prone himself, taking a red shirt due to knee surgery and spent the 2014 season behind due to a back injury. Furthermore, toward the end of the 2014 season, when he was brought in as a wildcat QB, he seemingly, at some point get hurt (see the UVA game).
We were a one injury away from losing Motley. Then what? Andrew Ford would have been the best option if he had stayed, but that left us with Durkin and Lawson. They both needed snaps in game time. While Lawson has impressive physicality, he has yet to shown much of a football IQ, and seeing that he's almost already 20, that does not look good for him.
I almost bought, and really should have bought, opening day tickets on Friday. Saw some in the lower level at <$20. Now they are all upper deck starting at $45. I'll open the new park next year instead.
Good thoughts. At first I thought it was Carl due to what he said about if he jumps gouge his other eye but everything leading up to Glenn makes me think Glenn. Then again, Daryl has been rumored to be killed off all season because of his new show.
To add to your last point, Lawson will be 21 in July.
Thanks for tip. I'm getting really tired of people trying to control, tax, charge, and regulate me. Just discovered TKP recently and love the hell out of it.
Yes, based on the clips I see we will have Jack Click as quarterback. I find that a bit of a surprise.
We will see a lot more at the Spring game and later this summer.

Do some research on his "legal guardian" Ed Smith. Not the first time he's brought a Sudanese big man to the U.S. If he keeps it up there could be a 30 for 30 about him.
Good video. Although I think someone was cutting onions around here right at the end.
No way !! I didn't follow his articles when they where free and Care Less now. Roanoke Times has always had a negative view of VT over the years in their articles and Andy is no different. I live in the NRV and know first hand of the years of their articles. My wife gets the paper, Her choice, but I wouldn't care if they shut down. I can get all the VT sports news from HokieSports.com and Twitter, snapchat, TKP, Hokie Club website. plenty of places that don't have a Negative attitude in their articles. Bye...RT's and Andy !!
he was a member of the 2015 class and decided to do a post-graduate year
Is this even a thing at the High School Level?! I bet you that is something to beat your chest about to your friends...
Neegan is perceptive and did all that to get information.
It won't be someone he has leverage over so, not Rick or Carl, Glenn or Maggie.
Might be Abraham because he'll be trouble and doesn't know about his personal relationships.
Might be Daryl but then he'd piss off so many women they'd loose market share.
Might be one of the girls though. It would make him more hated.
No more so than usual. Premieres and finales of TWD, which is one of the biggest shows on TV, are great advertising opportunities. New shows are constantly pitched, and AMC loves the ad revenue; they can charge a lot because they know ratings will be through the roof.
Not as concerned about LF in general as I am just about Castillo. I think Holt and Young could be a pretty good platoon.
Koji doesn't really worry me either. The back end of the bullpen has gotten new arms and takes alot of pressure off him and Taz. If they can be consistent, the bullpen should be pretty solid.
No concern about Ortiz. He's always been aging and still puts up his numbers. Probably will have a slow start. Fans will complain. He'll finish with 30 HRs and 90+RBI.
Definitely alot of young guys that look ready to take the next step and hopefully Price and Kimbrel can give us the momentum to keep winning throughout the season. If Hanley can stay healthy, we know he can hit and apparently he's looked decent at 1B (though not that hard compared to the outfield last year).
But I agree, think they finish somewhere with 85-90 wins.
dank memes
I just learned this usage of "dank" a few weeks ago at work. Guy said something was dank, and I replied "I don't know, it doesn't seem so bad to me." He also learned a new (old) usage for dank that day.
Buzz was wrong for how he did it
Was he? That team turned around after that speech. You can't say with 100% accuracy that had he taken the time to tell the media that he was going to speak to his team for an indeterminate amount of time that said speech would have the same effect. However I can say him having done what he did how he did resulted in turning the team around. So in fact he did the right thing the right way.
Your comment on media paying the bills is true but on level of media rights deals, not regional sports writers. Not to say that a good sports reporter isn't of value, just that they are not paying the bills. In regards to fans, please introduce me to any fan that decided not to buy tickets to games, support the team, etc as a result of Buzz's decision and I would be happy to consider that.
Being a little upset is expected. As I stated I am willing to wager everyone paid to do a job has gotten upset at something in their job. Choosing to publicly air those complaints on social media is beyond being a little upset.
As far as unpaid OT, was it? Are you sure about that?
I never mentioned Barber or Berman, only Bitter. I made general comment about bitching and moaning on social media, which is not news as it tells us nothing except you are waiting to be able to tell me something that would actually be of value.
In fact my narrative is that their job is to report the sporting news. If that takes an extra hour to do it then wait the extra hour and do it. Don't complain unprofessionally on social media. My narrative is NOT whether they sat in their seat or not, so not sure what hole you are punching there.
Except that gets to the heart of what the media is supposed to do.
great, then tell us that Buzz is talking to his team and leave it at that. Don't need the butthurt tweets every 5 to 10 minutes about you still waiting because it has no value nor information. As Joe says, signal to noise. That is pure noise. I do agree with you that Bitter mailing in his complaint was the worst.
Agree, I have seen him play several times and his athleticism for his size is impressive, but his basketball is NOT. Was not the best player on the court most of the time. It has been a few years since Ive seen him, but I would say he would be a bust in college, much less the NBA. He will cause matchup problems in college maybe, but doesnt have much of a skillset.
There was a time before Buzz where I thought landing this kid was the one shot VT basketball had at being relevant in the immediate future.
A few years later and I'm glad to see we are at a point where we can "miss out" on him (not that we ever came close to getting him) and not really bat an eye.

Well if David Spade is getting with her you might have a shot after all.
