The Vegas tourney is the most likely landing spot for Buzz's Boys.
And that's fine. I wasn't expecting a postseason this year.
I'm a little rusty on my auto-qualifier rules, but when we win the ACC tourney, don't they have to let us into the big dance?

Or, if they were to construct the reception as a tailgate, the food *could be* pot luck/normal tailgate style where everyone brings something to share. Both options (tickets or meal) are win win for the guests
The Vegas tourney doesn't even start for two weeks after Selection Sunday, so that would be two more weeks of practice. That may be a nice landing spot for this team.
My cousin and her husband, both VT grads, got married the day of the Mike Vick fake out of bounds at WVU. Half the wedding was in the parking lot listening to it on radio.
Have you seen our RPI?
So what you are saying is that if we get to the ACC championship game and lose, we don't deserve to go to the Big Dance. I completely disagree with that statement. If that happens we deserve to go and that is not backing into it. But it's probably not going to happen.
Keep dreaming! He's got to be at least 10 years older before he can start for the Raiders. /s
I am feeling good about these next two home games. @Pitt was a turnover nightmare, they really didn't ruin us on the glass as you might expect. Hokies are slight underdogs on the home pine, I like their chances.
As for the Miami game Saturday, I am hoping the house is still packed. Friday is the start of spring break for students, no? @Miami, we didnt play two full halfs of basketball. Tech and the U were even at the half, a poor start to the second half and road-game woes let that one get too far out of reach.
As bad as the month of Feb was for Williams and Co. in terms of road games, finishing up the season with two home games in a nice treat. Just have to make the most of it now.
This article is senseless, then. We're not going to qualify for the NIT when we win the ACC.

No wedding gift for them!
My brother got married on the day of the ECU game in 2014. I was the best man and the ceremony was supposed to start right around the time ECU scored to go ahead 21-14. Needless to say, I held things up a bit and came out very blotto on the other end. The weather outside was nice though.
Married my VT Lady on September 23 Twenty Years Ago at Mountain Lake, wouldn't change a thing!
We had a blast and VT beat #17 Miami 13 to 7 in Blacksburg.
I was just thinking, I would 100% be okay with attending a wedding where the bride and groom skipped on paying for a meal for everyone and instead bought a block of tickets to the game. It's probably cheaper honestly with group ticket prices. That would be awesome.
I had a friend who was married at Smithfield Plantation at 10am on the morning of the Boston College game in 2011. The gametime was like at 3pm that day so they planned their reception to be a massive tailgate in the back of Lot 18. Afterwards, whoever had tickets went to the game.
That is exactly how you plan a wedding in the fall.
If you want a Fall wedding, historically, the last 2 weeks of October and first week of November are the best for VT fans. That is usually around when our Thursday night game or bye week falls. This year, the last 2 weekends of October are free due to Thursday night games. Last year, only the first weekend of November was free. 2014, the last 2 weekends of October were free. 2013, the 2nd to last weekend of October was free. 2012, when I got married, the last weekend of October and first 2 weekends of November were open. I could continue beyond that where my wife researched prior schedules, but you get the idea.
Agree with you. If we win the ACC Tourney, then here we come. However, I don't want to squeak in the tourney because we deserve it.
How many conversations have we had about deserving to be somewhere?
I'd rather go into the NIT and potentially win that this year, than go into the Big Game, and lose in the first round. What I get excited about is the future. If we are doing this with the young group we have, they will bring experience to the next couple of years. Makes going to the NIT even more valuable, as they will see what is necessary to drive through and win that tournament.
No matter the ending, we have a bright future for this program as long as Buzz sticks around.
Some of the best weddings I have been to have been on the days of Hokie games with a room full of drunk Hokies.
Exactly. I read the title and immediately said to myself, "but friends don't get married in the fall."
Just to show how close it is, those two sites I linked to have Tech in the NIT, but another one updated later has them out. Tonight's a huge game.
At least you didn't marry an LOLUVA fan. Tenn girls are so pretty, and have such great accents, and who doesn't love a Bluetick coonhound, but that orange... Yuck.
Two words. Ear buds.
My wife and I did the same thing. Well, I told her that we would not be getting married in the fall.
As stated, she is a big UT fan. We both thought spring would be best.
I disagree wholeheartedly with this statement. As much as I'd love to say that VT deserves an NCAA's bid, that's not likely at all due to some of our bad losses in out of conference play, and the fact that there are just better teams out there. While I like the optimism, we'd need an ACC tourney win to go to the NCAA tourney

My fiance and I are both hokies. We originally picked 9/10/16 as our wedding date and were a few days away from signing the venue contract. But her best friend (also a hokie) mentioned the Battle of Bristol randomly one night when we were all hanging out and we both looked at each other and freaked out. Somehow we had both completely forgot the date of the game, even though we were both planning on going. Keeping it on that date wasn't an option and luckily picked another date in October. Needless to say that we both have that day blocked off on our calendar now
