PSA: Don't google Death Train. I thought I would get cool illustrations of scary looking trains. No, I got train deaths. Yeesh!
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

DEATH TRAIN!

Typical sheep, an idea comes along that isn't the mainstream and you reject it. Enjoy that brick wall, Fuente is heading straight for it.
Bah Bah. Fuente will lead the sheep to slaughter.
You should read more and post less.
Semantics, but it won't take until Year 3 to know if this is going well or not.
Fuente death train?

Yes. this right here.
Consistently poor steak. It's not cooked poorly but, the steaks themselves are a poor cut.
I go there when I have to but I do not get steak there.

Bull hockey he should have had every 6 and 7 star player in the East Coast in for a visit and got half of them to commit on the spot. I mean he hasn't won a single game since he has been here or even signed one 8 star high school recruit yet!! What is he being paid for!
So we wait until he completely runs the VT Football train into the brick wall, then we can say ok maybe we made a mistake. The writing is on the all. Choo Choo all about the Fuente death train.
Rivals 4* Rick Wells, Keith Simms, Marlon Character, Tomon Fox are all either on campus, visiting this weekend, or have VT as one of two finalists. There are still some legit talent to be acquired in this class
4 star and 5 star recruits I would assume. ATXHokie is not the recruiting coordinator, but I would assume this is what he meant.
That is how he is being touted. An amazing coach, that can transform an offense. How do we do that with guys that should be on the FCS level. At least I've spoken my mind rather than following the sheep and celebrating these 2.5 star recruits.
Fuente had given up on recruiting Evans to Memphis because he had gotten too big for the school once he got the VT job Fuente called him back up. FWIW two of the three 2* guys(Williams and Silas) we offered had their rankings boosted considerably to high 3* and mid 3* guys, shows he is a good evaluater of talent. KVon Wallace a low 3* guy offered a few days ago recently picked up offers from MSU/OSU/Clemson so Fuente must have been on to something there as well. Otherwise you are nuts, you need to give him until at least 2018 before you can make a fair evaluation of is recruiting, so far he seems to be an excellent judge of talent
Majority of 2017 offer news we see is for 4 star recruits (especially at running back). You're not going to get a foot in the door with a top recruit in January, they're all locked up.
Passing any judgment, or attempting to project anything, about recruiting or on-field performance before year 3 is ridiculous.
Fuente is in a new league, for sure. But if he can succeed on the field with the players we have, while plugging a few holes here at the end of the recruiting cycle, his remaining task is to establish relationships in the region (which, if you follow relevant Twitter feeds, you see his is doing - a lot) and the pipelines will build. We just had the first huge staff overhaul in the better part of 3 decades; improved recruiting will take time. Winning will cure a lot of it. VT has a strong brand, but its recent success (or lack thereof) is what's weighing us down. Win a few Coastal crowns and the higher ranked kids will start to take notice again.
/S......right?
The old and rarely used Beamerism, "out of whack", comes to mind.
Bold prediction: the Red Wings will make the playoffs again
Holy cow, where did this come from?
While I share some of your concerns, I won't be using what happens this year in recruiting to judge anything. Literally, this time of year, you have to pursue anyone who will talk to you. And the guys who will talk to Fuente are the players that his staff has been recruiting previously.
Fuente has not recruited 4 and 5 star players regularly before, nor has his staff (this is my biggest concern, we should have added one or two recruit-first coaches). That is concerning. But what counters that is his scouting and player development background. He knows what he wants, he identifies it and brings the best out of those kids. That will pay off handsomely.
Starting next recruiting season, look for VT to continue to target a similar 3 and 4 star kid that we have targeted before, some 5 stars. I don't expect us to become Clemson overnight.
But what happens this January and February won't tell us anything about Fuente or his staff.
A good burger is better than a poor steak.
That team that isn't on our level (Memphis) would have wiped the floor with us had we played this year. Give the guy more than two months to judge his recruiting. Considering the limited time he has had, I think he's done a great job hanging on to the bulk of our guys and adding guys at critical positions of need. Most of the top 4- and 5-star guys have had established relationships with schools for a while now. Give the man a full recruiting cycle at least. It's hard to not be impressed with his track record of offensive production at TCU and completely turning around a moribund Memphis program.

Expressing an unpopular, but logically formulated opinion is one thing. If you've come here to just insult people, I'll gladly show you the door.
But then, you replied to your own post, thereby calling yourself a "typical sheep," so...
