This is not good. He was a real force for this team, and his energy and talents will be sorely missed. Since it looks like he'll be out for the rest of this season, is there any way he could get a medical hardship year out of this, or has he played too much to qualify for that? Also, anyone know when Hill is scheduled to return, and what's the deal with Outlaw?

I think it says that the kids appreciate the extra opportunity to prove themselves and it lends to better football.
We actually kind of do at the undergrad level. In political science there are three options: the legal studies option, national security option, and general option (which is what I did). The first option is designed for those wishing to go to law school. The second option is designed for those wanting to work in national security, foreign policy, or homeland security. In the sociology major you can choose to focus on criminology which is good for those wanting to go into law enforcement or criminal justice work in general.

# | Bucky Hodges Given "Stay In School" Draft Grade, Mulling Options So in other words, that's his base salary he could make if he goes pro this year. The base salary. Which means, if he goes the following year, the numbers aren't moving downwards.
If a guy with his kind of talents is looking at only making base salary there is absolutely no reason for him to declare early. He should stay in college, work on his game, and his earnings potential will explode. He can easily play himself into the first day of the 2017 Draft with a good season next year, and if he gets that, these numbers are paltry.
Seriously, knowing what his earnings potential is now vs what his earnings potential is if he stays and has a good 2016 season, its a no brainer to stay. Ignore the numbers, we're talking about minimum salary in an industry where the sliding pay scale is exponential. And the coaching staff at VT that is coming in coaches a style that will lean on him next year.

So I just want to say how glad I am my buddy got us all tickets to see it the first Thursday it came out, I cant tell you how many times since I've heard even on accident from people not trying to spoil it for others at work or out or trolls on the intronet "HANS DEAD"

I'm so glad we sent Beamer out a winner. And I will say, I have never seen Beamer happier than during his last four games. He was like a different person in interviews. He knew it was time, and he hung it up. The cowboy rode off into the sunset. That doesn't happen these days.
May we never take for granted how fortunate we were.

The 4-year minimum base salaries for players in this year's draft are as follows: $435,000 (Year 1), $525,000 (Year 2), $615,000 (Year 3), $705,000 (Year 4). *(because someone will try to argue 'half a million')
And then tell yourself you are going to turn that opportunity down with the chance of either bettering your opportunity next year or never having the same opportunity come again. I cant speak for everyone, but I still have a hard time understanding just how hard of a decision that must be to turn down, its easy to say 'go back to school' when you have absolutely nothing riding on it ha, its a different story when you put yourself in a similar situation.
Yup, I made it very clear to my wife that our wedding would be a summer wedding as to not interfere with any sports. My only damage was the US Open, but we had that on when getting ready and while waiting for rain to pass.
Honestly, with French and Mason's analysis, the spring game is a mere formality. Fun to tailgate but the real meat and content comes from those two. I'll be there though.

This comment is going around a LOT right now. We need to hold our horses.
Justin Fuente never had a 1,000 yard receiver at Memphis. Not even close. The top receiver performance while Fuente was at Memphis was this past season when Mose Frazier had 66 grabs for 750 yards. That's in a season where Memphis was averaging over 510 yards per game and threw for 955 more yards over the course of the season than we did.
As co-OC at TCU, Fuente had one receiver flirt with 1,000 yards, when Josh Boyce finished the 2011 season with 998. Outside of that season, Fuente's top receivers at TCU finished in the 550-650 yard range.
Fuente has never had a receiver who put up anything close to the numbers Isaiah just posted. And Fuente's offense seems to be way more about spreading the ball around than Lefty's did. One hallmark of Fuente's offense: typically speaking, his third-best receiver finished the season within 100 receiving yards of his top receiver.
I think Ford is the best receiver we've ever had, but he also benefited greatly by being the clear number one receiver with little competition. We're getting three well-regarded WR recruits who will be coming to Tech basically on the first day of the Fuente era, which means competition for receptions just went way up for Ford. That, plus the nature of Fuente's scheme, leads me to believe that Isaiah's numbers might well go down in 2016, and it won't be any knock on Ford whatsoever.
(EDIT: PS, 757Hokey, not trying to shit all over your post. I'm replying more to the general idea that's been common on TKP lately that Fuente will improve Ford's performance. I'm replying more to that general notion than your specific post.)

But so much of the tradition that Beamer created, will continue. The number of emotions that we all currently have are no more than the number of possible weather scenarios during a 4 hour time frame in Blacksburg.
I normally take a sabbatical to focus on work and relationships and all those other things I neglect but I may make an exception for this offseason. Going to be an exciting one, without a doubt.
I'm going to miss BeamerBall and the way you almost instinctively blurt it out the second something of an extreme happens on special teams.

I think when it's all said and done, he goes down as the best WR in VT history and our first WR to be drafted in the first round. Especially after Fuente gets his hands on him.
He makes everything look so effortless and it's amazing to watch. When Isaiah's the target of a pass, I'm never worried.
I said somewhere else, Motu isn't bad. He shows flashes. He just isn't ready, and the fact that he's being forced to play is a result of recruiting failures, not anything that Motu did.
I think Motu is one of those players the could be a beast his senior year. There just isn't anyone here now to give him time to learn as a sophomore and junior.
Coach Fuente does have his work cut out for him, but he does have 'somethings' to work with already.
Exciting times ahead...and as long as we STILL continue beating UVA!!
I'd like to see the P5 get proactive about this and pool all officials together and set a standard across all five conferences. It could also be the first step on the P5 breaking ties with the NCAA and becoming their own body, which I'm fully in favor of.
I'm sure he's keeping with his commitment...
