I also feel that J.J. Abrams deliberately stayed close to what Star Wars fans are used to, for the first movie, to kind of ease the concerns of "new director" and "George Lucas isn't writing the scripts" critics. I think he did this so the more intense fans accept him as the new director and can he can now "branch out" in the following films.
Even George Lucas said that he didn't want to work with Star Wars any more because the fans were extremely critical of everything and didn't allow him to explore new ideas without backlash. So I'm not surprised that Abrams took the "safe route" initially with his own little twists but I'm expecting this to change in the following two movies.
Otherwise, if the next movie is similar to Empire Strikes Back, then I expect an uproar from a majority of the fanbase...myself included.
They ran the wild turkey with a TE. That's usually Motley's role.
people tuck prior to impact...it is an involuntary reaction
the rule is written to prevent players from trying to take other players out with a head shot and using the crown of their helmet as a weapon. that's what the booth review is trying to determine. if the booth official is reading fine print and reviewing minutiae to decide if a hit meets a technical standard, thus leading to penalty and ejection, they need to get new jobs
....or because Brewer was playing pretty well and imo is way better than Motley. None the less hope Motley recovers quickly and is back to full health and ready to compete in the spring!!
He is too good of a coach to just be a RC
Aw, too bad. I was hoping he'd be our recruiting coordinator
You stay classy HMG! Lol
LMAO! YOU just want Daisy Ridley all to yourself with that Kiera Knightly smile! My gosh she's so hot. She's got the type of smile that just makes ya wanna impregernate her....DEEP IMPACT style.
EDIT: Aw C'MON!
He should have been ejected from the game.
There was a lot of chippiness before that, and some of it was being ignored.
Pierson does not have a vagina!
Sorry. I know, I know. But it did just made me LMFAO. That is all. Continue.
Without a doubt which really turned it into a comedy yet a poor demonstration of class in the CFB world.
If nothing else, he was intentionally a dumb-ass....should have been ejected by Frank
Honestly, I like the coach's response. If a kid feels the need to drag a coach and a program's name through the mud to make himself feel better, it deserves a response like what he got. Now I will say, there was no need for Patterson to bring up family members in the response.
The current climate results in the rule and officials on the field are taught to throw the flag when in doubt...that's fine.
The screw-ups are in the booth review. It's either an intentionally dangerous play worthy of an ejection or it isn't...rarely a difficult call.
I'm sure the kid (and parent) had too much attitude, but then again, so did Mike Leach.
I think most hs kids should see it. But def agree on VT athletes!
Yea, to be fair to myself the only other option was a Saturday in September. That likely would have ended in a much worse scenario.
We're all right there with ya. As much as I will miss Frank, I won't miss debacles like Wake Forest in 2014 and the cold and wet Pittsburgh experience at Lane this year. Am definitely looking forward to a Fuente-fied off-season and the preservation of all of the aspects we are saying herein that we miss, while pitching all of the crap like I just listed.
Ellis would be a great player in a position of need.
He's a great fit for VT, and it's a shame he's going another direction.
I am not buying into all of that BS. How many kids were on that roster that had a parent that was a lead commentator on ESPN? Coach a youth team ( I have) and you will see how some parents really are crazy when it comes to any sport.
I hope Minor can get it together, considering our lack of linebacker play it is infuriating to have such a highly touted recruit not contributing
This interview should be required viewing for every Virginia Tech athlete competing in the post season.
Might save them having to go home on the bus. The media and travel are just distractions when you're playing in a big game.
We need as many WR as possible this year since the offense Fuente runs utilizes many different targets. We are likely losing Ford next year which leaves us a bunch of true sophmores or RS-Freshman and Cam. We aren't exactly loaded with Defensive backs this year either
Exactly. Imagine having people talk about you the way many of the people here talked about Stroman after he got beaten a few times against ECU where he was in position and just got outmuscled/outlucked for some balls. Can happen to anyone. It's a reactionary position, the receiver knows where they are going, the corner doesn't.
Another very recent example, Facyson played Garrett pretty tight on his late touchdown catch and even successfully hit the ball as it arrived in Garrett's hands, he simply had enough grip to hold on and complete the catch. He played proper technique and sometimes it just isn't enough.

And Hodges was pretty darn effective in that role.
