This is actually a little different. After doing some digging I learned that this is the new version of what I studied. I was a Sociology major with a concentration in Crime Deviance. Evidently that concentration no longs exists but instead has been turned into the new major of "Criminology" (which interestingly is still technically offered by the sociology department according to the link).
Now the strange part about the whole situation is that VT doesn't have a Criminal Justice program because Radford has one. When I went on my first OV to Tech it was explained to me that a school can't have a CJ program if another school within a certain vicinity has one. Since Radford has a CJ program and since they fall within this vicinity, Tech's hands are evidently tied. I tried to do a quick google search that could explain this and I failed to find anything. All I know is what I was told.
Yep, he's reliable hands-wise with the home run potential. He's tried too much occasionally but he's also set us up nicely (BC, Purdue this year and OSU AND bowl game last yr come to mind). He's also saved us a LOT of yardage by sure-handedly scooping up tough bouncing rugby style kicks before they rolled another 15-20 yds. Lots of teams struggle just CATCHING punts (UVA has been one)

# | Bucky Hodges Given "Stay In School" Draft Grade, Mulling Options Neither of these are good comparisons because as I remember they were both projected to go in draft rounds. Bucky has been told to stay in school. Not apples to apples. If you want an accurate comparison find someone who was told to stay in school but didn't and it ended poorly. I am sure there are plenty of those.
Didn't know this existed it must be new but only 21 credit hours in criminology is well Criminal.
Had to look at it again tonight.
Looks pretty catchable to me, especially if a defensive back wasn't going for a piggy back ride.

This is to everyone above who attempted to get me started but I failed because I have been crazy busy flying around the globe. +1 for being solid instigators
My 2 cents:
On that particular play referenced above, Bud was yelling at linebacker Edmunds. He was screaming to tell him to "get down", or "get your hand in the dirt". In my opinion, he was telling him to align as a DE. I believe it was the Bear front and he plays wide as a down lineman. If you pay attention to the next play, Edmunds lines up correctly.
As long as teams are running the "hurry up" to catch teams off guard, you are always going to get some of these flops. Hell, I'd do it if it means a W in the column. All part of the game brother.
In order for a game to stop for injury, the player has to go down. This is true for all levels of sports (except European soccer, where if they stopped the game for every player down, it would be a 5-hour affair). My guess is that players were cramping and whatnot but trying to stay on the field. Aware of the importance of each play at that stage of the game, Bud wanted guys who were 100% to be playing. If Bud saw someone limping, he would tell them to get down. Not only does this allow him to get fresh players on the field but it also allows the rest of the defense to rest.

Sorry to bump the thread without any real news on Bailey but I just wanted to say that if any of you all need a reason to hate Tennessee fans before Bristol (if you haven't found one already), I urge you to look at the comments they're giving Bailey on Twitter in regards to Virginia Tech. I wouldn't think that sort of low class from fans on Twitter would be too appealing to Bailey, but I am glad his visit to Tennessee is before his one at Tech. I like our chances.
A lot of that has to do with route patterns. And not just the OC, but the QB Impacts that. In our case Brewer's (lack of) arm strength eliminated some options.
Additionally, the way he floated the ball and/or under threw Ford constantly allowed defenders to be on top of him as soon as he made the catch. It hurt Bucky too

This is exactly it. He was struggling so he was telling the guy to get down so the play would be stopped and the medical staff could treat him.

I remember this as well. It was the fact that they kept doing it several times in the same drive, over and over. It was so obvious.

That's a great point - not all schools have all degree programs. If a student has a specific interest, then it makes sense to go to a school that offers a degree in it. I think sometimes we don't give these 18-year-olds enough credit for thinking beyond athletics. VT certainly looks attractive for STEM, pre-med, Vet Med and many others - but there are simply some degree programs we don't, and won't, have in the near future. Kudos to the kids that realize even the NFL is at best a temporary profession.
Oh come now, we all make the occasional grammar error now and again, don't knock his intelligence based on that one error. We're talking about a 17 y/o that knows exactly where he wants to go and do, which is extraordinarily rare for someone <21 much less 17. Props to this kid!
But if he's looking into criminal justice, we don't even have that degree path here for him.
It's Tino Ellis. That means he is still looking around. Tech could still be in play.
I know both schools, Tech is the better university by far.

Actually, it's offered in Blacksburg, Richmond, and the NCR campus. One of the selling points is that in talking to #sauces, there's a lot of opportunity for graduate-degreed city / town managers that have a background in EM / HS, who can avoid the faux pax that so many seem to fall into when the defecation hits the rotary oscillator. I know of three "career" public safety people that MPA'd then went on to actual county/city/town manager posts here in Virginia alone; had they focused on HS/EM they likely would've hit a ceiling.
Not only that - but being able to be a student on campus again is awesome even at my age. I'm a huge fan of CPAP and the MPA program, so anyone that wants to know more, just let me know. And #ThisIsHome so when in Blacksburg, come on over to Thomas Conner House (you know, across the street from everyone's favorite 7-11).
If it's and's and butt's were candy and nuts, lol........Well, I added them in NCAA '04...lemme tell ya, you'da thought Rick Flair was hangin out at my apt. WHOO!
