^^^^ This!! Celebration of Frank's career and the Hokies' victory.... this will be a day of celebrating with much brown liquor! I will start with Bourbon and probably move onto the Single Malt somewhere in the 4th. All Hokie Football matters while the clock is ticking. Ten minutes after its over and I finish my last toast... It's onto the new guys!

All I'm saying is it's not going to happen overnight. Watching Memphis film and how they operate, it's not like Fuente had guys running completely unmarked down the field catching bombs 10 times a game. He didn't have running backs just waltzing up the middle of the field for 1st down after 1st down. Yes he did an AMAZING job at turning around that Memphis offense, but it didn't happen overnight. He went 4-8 his first year and 3-9 his second.

Fuente is a great coach and I think he could very well win a national champoinship at Tech IF IF IF he gets a hold of some elite athletes. He needs those elite players who can turn a 5 yard run into a 30 yard run, a receiver who can win 80% of jump balls instead of just 40%.

The reason I don't think he's going to have an elite unit overnight is because his offense was is designed to be methodical, not explosive. His unit was ranked 13th in yards per game but only 27th in yards per play... and that's with a third year QB who I think is the best NFL QB in college right now. Last year that same quarterback led an offense that was only ranked 49th in total offense and 70th in yards per play.

The year before that? Offense was ranked 117th in the country and 114th in yards per play.

He'll get the offense were it'll need to be, there is no doubt in my mind. I'm just saying I don't expect it to happen right away. Although who knows... there is a lot of talent returning on this team. What Travon and Ford and Phillips and Hodges and Marshawn and the entire offensive line come back ready to make the leap? What if Evans shows up on campus and really is Cam Newton 2.0? Or what if Fuente finds a way to explain his offense to Motley better than Loeffler was able, freeing Motley up to unleash his physical tools? There's a lot of talent on this team. We'll find out.

I hear what you are saying, I just say if you want to down vote him, then do so, responding to his comments are adding more "noise." Again, just my .02, here I am on this post adding more "noise" or irrelevant posts lol

But there is a difference between the desired level of accomplishment and an acceptable level of accomplishment. I think we all want VT to be in the Playoffs in year 3 and 4. But, what if VT is top top 10, but not in the playoffs? What if VT is 11-2, regular season, but VT goes to the Russell Athletic Bowl (i.e. UNC this year)? What if we're top 25 all 4 years, but never in an NY6? What if Jerod Evans or D. Lawson becomes a top 10 pick in 2018, but VT still never makes the ACCCG?

VT could be much better the next 3 seasons and still not be elite. Would that be enough?

St. Joe's is no joke. They have been consistent for a long time.

I'm 27, so Frank has been the head coach at Tech for longer than I've been alive (which is crazy to think about). Some will make the argument that those who don't remember the pre-'87 years won't appreciate Frank as much as those who do -- and that may be true...but I know this:

While the word "class" is thrown around WAY too often in sports, Frank Beamer deserves to be described that way. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone who has something negative to say about who he is as a person (and this is a top notch article about him). I firmly believe he should be prouder of what he's done building a program and his off the field impact than his record or bowl wins.

My clearest and most enduring memory of him is from 2007. On the first day back in class that April, they rang a bell 32 times on the drillfield, which was nothing short of chilling. I was a wreck, as was everyone else on campus as we all tearily made our way back. You're never really aware of your surroundings in those situations, you have total tunnel vision. But I happened to notice Coach Beamer was walking right next to me as I headed back to my dorm. I wanted to say something, but had no words, there was nothing to be said in that moment, not to a man that meant that much to the community. All I can say is that the look on his face was one of pure resolve. You've seen it at times in pictures of him before he takes the field. That was the first and one of the strongest signals that Virginia Tech was going to have the determination necessary to deal with tragedy.

I hope that Frank knows how much he means to all of us.

It is absolutely an important game! Send Frank and the seniors out as winners and extend our win streak. If you do not think it is important, your head is in a barrel...
