Tennessee won't go for it, which is the most obvious for us. But I really wish we could get some other match ups for h&h beyond ECU. I'd take UT and Vandy (SEC), UM (B1G), and WVU (Big 12) mixed in with ECU. Other than UT, I consistently like our chances against those teams and it would help in adjacent states we recruit.

I'll believe the SEC schedule line when it actually happens. As of right now Miss St doesn't have a P5 opponent and almost every other SEC team is playing neutral site games or rivalries, so it's not really opening up new games that Tech can schedule.

I would have loved for that to happen again, because it would have meant at least one more divisional win.
Look at it this way: in 2016, everyone will be new at their position in Justin Fuente's offense. This is a perfect time to have a QB transition, because QB1 won't have to spend all offseason unlearning Lefty's scheme and replacing it with Fuente's. All the other skill positions will be learning a new scheme just like the early enrollees. Other than from a standpoint of conditioning and adjusting to the speed of the game at the P5 level, this spring will be a very level playing field.
Well, this explains a lot of things..particularly why they're looking for a Coach who doesn't require conversion. They probably can't wait 2 years while the coach is on Missions before he can come in and actually coach football. That would be bad business.
Obviously...with 34 sacks b/t Brewer (18) and Motley (16) and lord know how many hurries, I debated on including these numbers. Typically more holds happen when a team is getting blasted off the line due to desperation efforts to avoid the sack, but yet we only ended up with 7 holding flags. And yea, I'd agree that I'd rather have a few more holding flags than constantly grass stained QB...
But so much for looking on the bright side and having something positive to progress with.

These 12 man leagues, starts to become a chore just to keep warm bodies on the roster, let alone a bunch of play makers!
They go on the missions during their time at BYU. So they enter young adults in their teens and then go on I believe it's a 2 year mission. Then they return and play. I'm pretty sure that they play after the mission has been completed. This why they have many 22 to 24 year olds playing. There QB this year just finished his mission and didn't join the team until half way through the summer sessions.
Except that Vandy used to have an annual matchup with Wake Forest, but they ended that.

Except this isnt necessarily true going forward now that the SEC and BIG12 have all put in place a rule that all of their schools are required to play at least one OOC game against schools from the P5 in 2016. There is talk that the BIG10 will have the same rule in place to effect their 2017 schedules. The ACC has had this rule in place since 2014, but includes BYU as an additional option school (See LOLUVA schedule)

the biggest news is a new provision that requires schools to play at least one game against a team from the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten or Pac-12. (Notre Dame, an independent, would also fulfill the requirement, as reported by national college football writer Bruce Feldman.)

Big 12 football teams will now be required to play at least one non-conference game each season against a team from one of the other Power Five leagues or Notre Dame.
"Schedule strength is a key component in CFP Selection Committee deliberations," Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said. "This move will strengthen the resumes for all Big 12 teams."
No. 4 Oklahoma (11-1), the outright Big 12 champion, is in the College Football Playoff this season. But 2014 league co-champions Baylor and TCU were left out of the initial four-team playoff last year after both were 11-1 in the regular season.
Under the plan announced Tuesday by the league, each Big 12 team will have to annually play against the Fighting Irish or a team from the ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC.
One of the things that stands out, at least to me, is that of the 201 penalties called against VT and our opponents, 88 are for pre-snap offenses (43.8%). When you consider that out of 2,087 plays, only 113 flags were thrown for activity snap-to-whistle, that means almost 95% is "clean". I'm sure, from my own experience, some of that comes from the caliber of players and coaches in P5/FBS.
You see a different breakdown in the actual penalties called, but about the same numbers percentage-wise in the NFL (out of 208 in NFL week 15, 71 were pre-snap).
