Sapulpa (Okla.) linebacker Dae Williams joined SMU's 2016 recruiting class when he committed to the Mustangs on July 17. Not only does he expect to make an impact as a freshman, he wants to do so on both offense and defense.
While SMU offered Williams as a linebacker, some schools did offer him as a running back. He has true two-way potential and already received the green light for having an opportunity on offense as well for the Mustangs.
"I plan on playing linebacker but coach [Chad Morris] actually gave me the option to play on both sides of the ball," Williams said. "So if I have that ability and opportunity then I'll probably play some running back also."
Williams will surely be vying for those extra snaps on offense, but he is focused on his primary objective as a defensive player. Playing running back himself, he has a great understanding of how to stop opposing rushers. He believes his skills and instinct will really fit defensive coordinator Van Malone's system.
That dumpster fire of a coach and program, hopefully he has some good advisors in his corner. If he chooses to not go to VT that's ok just don't go to Muschamp at USCe, go somewhere, anywhere else.
One possible option for finishing up the new staff that I don't think I've heard would be to have Wiggins at RB coach, Shibest at WR, and retain Stinespring for TEs and as the recruiting coordinator. People have mentioned Wiggins coaching the RBs coach and retaining Burden since he played RB and coached there initially, but Shibest played at WR and has coached there before so it's not a stretch to picture him moving to coach WRs. .
Out of the three current coaches, I would rank them all about the same. I think Stiney has done the best job of the three coaching (TEs, not coordinating) and a good job with recruiting. Shane has been one of the better recruiters on the team, though a little underwhelming the last couple years compared to the first couple years he was on staff; as a coach he has done a pretty good job teaching but his rotation at RB through much of his coaching tenure has left much to be desired. Burden is still unproven and hasn't had the chance to get his own recruits in and coach them yet and has the potential to be a very good coach and recruiter in the future; I would rate him as an above average recruiter but only an average coach since he hasn't been able to develop a 3rd and 4th receiver this year.
From a salary standpoint Stiney is the most expensive to retain, while Burden would probably take the smallest chunk from CJF's assistant budget, but realistically it is possible for any of the three to stick around with coaches that are currently on staff or likely to be brought in from Memphis at this point.
Samuel Denmark got an offer from Muschamp (in person) and USCe today.
He states he will take a visit

Burdens name is being thrown around as a potential add to our staff, presumably because we are super light on Va recruiting ties. Thoughts on what you saw from Burdens guys technique this year?
He and Greene lowest rated of the commits.
Jarvis Cooper was his power back and he was impressive. I don't think the weight thing will be as much of a issue with the new staff. I've watched every snap from Memphis this year, and they said on multiple telecasts Cooper was over 250. As long as you can be productive at that weight they'll play you.

McClease seems well suited for Fuente's offense.
AD's will continue to be enticed by the additional TV money that comes along with being in an FBS conference. As long as there are conferences looking to add teams (*cough*Sun Belt*cough*), there will be teams looking to make the jump.

I think we do need some kind of rebrand. It's time to let go of the old and in with the new. I do like those orange chrome helmets, loved the ones we wore at UVA. I wish we wore those lids every game. Our helmets have fantastic this year, along with the black unis.
Sadly he only had one tackle that game. That stat always befuddled me wondering if he had been more productive what the outcome may have been.

Shai has had two ACL blowouts and did not look good at all when he came back. I'd have to imagine a knee that's been surgically reconstructed twice probably isn't going to hold up for three more seasons of significant playing time.
Marshawn has struggled to keep his weight down since day one on campus. After this long of a rehab, I'd imagine there's a danger of him having to come a long way back to get into game shape, during which time he's already been eclipsed by McMillian as an established TB1, and will give McClease a fair shot to surpass him in spring practice. Also, Marshawn is more of a power back, and I don't think Fuente runs a lot of power. (I could be wrong, though. I watched exactly 2 quarters of Memphis football this season.)
Between the two of them, I feel odds are we probably won't see both return to form and have anything more than garbage carries. A little more than a hunch since I can articulate the reasoning, but if you're looking for me to point to anything concrete, I don't have any sort of definitive proof.

I am right there with you Vtkey. The only thing that needs to occur to make Cassell fun is NIT level basketball. I can not imagine if a real top 15 team calls Cassell home!!!
I will still be there either way but really hope for the more fun option.

Wow, 115 teams in 2000 and 128 teams in 2015. The NCAA has averaged almost 1 new FBS team every year. How long do you think this trend lasts?

Look at the picture and imagine the words "So I heard you are still taking visits after committing to play for my O-line" haha I don't think O-linemen committing and then de-committing should be an issue with this guy!
