Isn't Shane the Assistant Head Coach or something like that? Don't forget that he was the lead coach during the bowl game last year when Frank had to sit in the booth. I realize that this is pretty weak, but it may be the stretch that USC-e is looking for to justify that Shane is more than just a position coach.

In all honesty, grooming a backup QB is not something VT has ever done well.

I dont think Spurrier was taking a shot at Beamer. I mean who would think it would be the right thing for Frank Beamer to do to leave in the middle of the season?

Spurrier wouldnt have really had a "farewell tour" at USC. He didnt want to coach anymore thats what it boils down to. If he wanted to coach, he wouldnt have quit halfway through the year. Not that he was looking out for his players by quitting. I dont know what the OBC is talkin about. I will miss Spurrier, he was quite a character and was a big part of college football at Florida in the 90's. I kinda miss those days.

Maybe the whiskey is to blame?

I could see Mullen at VT or Miami, but not UVa.

I can't see any of them giving him a bump in salary.

Brohm would be a good choice for UVA. I'm hopeful they are dumb enough to pick Tedford, Brown, Dykes or Schiano. If they hire one of those four, it wouldn't bother me in the least.

No...nothing veiled to it at all. Just noting that the prediction was, unfortunately, also incorrect.

Mullen's name has been thrown around at Miami and VT, maybe others. Reading the tea leaves, I think he's looking to capitalize on his current status while Prescott is graduating. If someone is willing to pay him $4.5M a year, he would go, but if not, he will stay and hope they don't suck without Dak. If he can develop another QB and win like he has been, he may be in position to take over for Franklin at PSU in a year or two.

The rumors were pretty heavy that Mullen talked to us, but I imagine the conversation stopped when he said he was looking for a raise on top of his current salary. I've said a few times, I think Fuente is pretty much Mullen, just $1M cheaper. I'm glad we made the move we did. Miami is probably glad they picked Richt instead of Mullen as well.

Nothing will shake my opinion that Loefller is a below average OC. Auburn proved that. 3 years at VT proved that. It's not like he hasn't had the firepower either, our offense as a whole has a lot of talent this year (and for that, I do give some of the credit to Lefty).

He's like Shane, a good recruiter and motivator but a poor gametime coordinator. I understand that execution was an issue, especially with inconsistency with Brewer, but some of his decisions are STILL baffling. It was a questionable hire the moment he step foot in Blacksburg and hasn't improved since.

I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes but I won't say I'm sad to see him go.

So far I'm batting 100% from my prediction post-JF presser! :)

*pats self on back*

I think if UNC wins and Stanford loses, they have a good shot of getting in. They'd have to jump OSU that would have 1 less win than UNC and their best win is Michigan (albeit a blowout on the road) vs Clemson for UNC. But UNC has a bad loss and...it is the OSU, defending champs and TV ratings driver.
