The only thing I learned from that game is that when you're down late in the game and need to shoot the ball outside of the paint, DO NOT have Devin Wilson on the floor. NW all but left him wide open on that final possession and he still didn't even attempt to do anything when the ball was thrown his way. Credit NW scouting report knowing the kid has zero shooting abilities.
What did Bucky take a step back from? He was completely lost half the time last year. He layed a block in the UVA game that we have all watched in gif form 300 times this week that may have single handedly won the game. Last year the WRs simply could not block and it was a real problem. Ford is setting records this year while only having the starting QB for half of the season. I would call that a pretty big success. Would it be beneficial to have a 4th and 5th wide receiver? Sure, but I wouldn't argue that made any impact on this season. It could have if Ford or Cam had gone down, but they didn't.

I think that if Torrian Gray is kept as well that means that you have three coaches Torrian Gray, Zohn Burden, and Wiggins who are young former players that are very easily relatable by recruits. I wouldn't discount the affect that would have especially in the 757. Pair that up with the influence of a high powered offense and I think that Fuente has something that he can really sell.
Shane to USCe (HC) or UGA (assistant) still out there...

Spring Game Countdown
My takeaways were:
1) What happened to LeDay? When he was in the game he was forcing it big time. I think he ends up more of a 8p-5r guy if he can stay in the rotation.
2) That's the Seth Allen we have been waiting for. He demands the ball a lot, but he can really create.
3) The freshmen: Clarke is a freak and super high-energy but out of control at times; Blackshear has a very polished game and needs more post touches; J-Rob moves the ball well in the half court set but needs to hit some shots to make defenses respect him.
4) Too many defensive lapses in the first half and down the stretch. This team has the ability to play good defense, but you have to want to play defense.
5) We saw a much more "veteran" rotation for most of the game, including Jalen Hudson playing some good minutes. A sign of things to come?
All I am looking for is continued improvement throughout the season. We will surprise a few teams and win some big games.
While I know I made my criticisms of Whit's coaching search on another thread, I will say we got an amazing outcome for the football program (and BBall program).
What sticks out about Whit most for me is how the only time his name is in the news is "Whit hired ___". That's it. He is a professional above anything else.

So many reasons to be pleased, even with the loss. This team is growing, game by game. Difference between 1st game and last night is immense.

You've been #Fuentefied!
Where would you rank them last year? Just curious, I thought 1 was way too high, with Oregon and an undefeated defending champ FSU out there.
Towards the end of the game, NW's shooting went pretty cold. It's a shame we couldn't capitalize. Props to Allen for a monster game.

I bet Littelpage is not afraid to open up the wallet for Richt, either. I could very much see the UVA big donors being anxious for a big name coach, and I'm sure a coach like Mark Richt would have the full support (financial) to make a big deal happen.
Athens to Charlottesville is not much of a culture shock for his family. Athens to College Park would be.

Yep- not much of a wardrobe shock for the Golden household if that happens.

agree with this. I think it's simply too early to tell what impact Burden had on any players, recruiting etc. It's an unfortunate situation for him, but he had to know coming in that this could be a short-term position with Frank on his way out. I would absolutely not retain a coach just for their current relationships, which haven't been netting us difference makers in the first place. Rather let the new coaching staff expand our recruiting territory and develop their brand then redirect their attention to locking down in-state talent when they have a better product to sell.
