Just a 10% better effort on defense & we prob would have won. Indeed, they had the scouting report, they knew they were going to throw up the threes....in the first half, defend a few of those and it might have been different. Play some D & quit all that contested stuff at the rim....Allen was a sapling under all those redwoods.
I think it will be interesting to see how Richt does wherever he ends up. I think he's a terrific character guy. I believe his recruiting prowess is somewhat skewed by the fact he coached at Georgia. Similarly to Smart, I think Richt's reputation as a recruiter benefits more from the program than anything else. Georgia had incredible recruiting classes during all of Richts tenure and yet they struggled mightily to even win their division. Everyone always says "But, they're in the all powerful and omnipotent SEC!!". Well the SEC West is the best division in football. No doubt. The SEC East, however, is not the gauntlet that the rest of the conference is. Richt winning 9+ games a year in the SEC East with the ridiculous amount of talent he has is not extremely impressive to me. It proves that he's a good coach but I don't think he's as great as everyone here seems to think he is. I'll be curious to see if he can prove me wrong somewhere. I'm honestly not too concerned about him taking the job at either Miami or UVA. I think we'd still beat them more often than not.
I will say, though, that if Richt ends up at UVA our streak will be in serious jeopardy. What I'm not worried about is that UVA would start a streak of their own. I think Fuente/Foster would win at least every other game vs Richt.

I have often pointed out to wife that when teams like Baylor, TCU, Oregon, Ok State pop on the scene out of nowhere, there is a great AD behind the scenes. (Of course it does not hurt to have wealthy donors in the background as well). Even schools that are always good; OSU, UCLA, Alabama and Michigan can be fouled by a bad AD. We are very fortunate to have hired Whit, he will have us athletically soaring very soon. A+ Whit!
All of this explains why we have a playoff system.
If they're not deserving, they'll be exposed.

I agree. It's easy to make the case for Whit as AD of the year.
Which is not to say there won't be bumps in the road, but he certainly handled this transition well.
I think Whit did a lot of pre-work, and had a plan. He got it wrapped up quickly, while other schools like Maryland and Virginia drew their searches out, and are now competing with each other for the same candidates. Beamer helped out tremendously by not trying to hang on too long. That was the difference between a celebration year and a divisive one.

Several references dating back to Spurrier's retirement or before have named him as a candidate, but no one else has mentioned the "contact".

Yep, Burden can recruit, but apparently couldn't do anything with the "other" receivers on the team. Hopefully the case was he just couldn't work with that kind of talent.
I don't know why, but the middle one gives off a creepy, molester vibe...
It would certainly make speculation about Bud's career all the more intriguing.
Yep- not much of a wardrobe shock for the Golden household if that happens.
