# | Buzzketball Central: Northwestern Wildcats (5-1) at Virginia Tech Hokies (4-2) 7PM ESPNU I would agree with you that until tonight Allen was all the things you indicated but tonight that was not the case. He still had a couple of bad drives but his only turnover off a drive came as he was trying to kick the ball out to Bibbs in the corner. Other than that, tonight Allen shot 15% higher than his season average of 33% from the field, for the second game in a row, he went 7-8 from the line, he went 4-8 from beyond the arc and one of his misses was a 75 foot attempt at the end of regulation that hit the side of the rim. He may have only been credited with two assists but I counted at least six occasions where he drove into the lane and kicked the ball out to an open teammate. He still overplays on defense but was able to correct and affect his opponent on at least three occasions and created two turnovers out of bounds in the first half knocking the ball off the ball handler out of bounds and had two steals beside that. He even chipped in four rebounds. This was probably his most well rounded game as a Hokie so far. Hopefully he continues to improve on defense and keeps playing how he did tonight on offense.
As for Robinson versus Wilson at the end, Robinson is 2-10 so far this season from outside. The play was designed for Allen, so the only place Buzz would have planned for Robinson would have been a desperate attempt at a kick out. I am more upset that Buzz even involved Wilson on the final play. It should have been Bibbs and Allen rotating back and forth until one felt they had the attempt at a shot that they wanted. They were by far the top two shooters on the evening.

Suites are already in the works and there is talk of finally taking out the wooden seats and installing newer cushioned seats which would take up more room and decrease capacity. Don't know when or if that will happen, but it should because really we could get away with only have 8500-9000.

1. VT steered clear because Beamer wouldn't go through the coaches for recruiting. The class act coaches of the Thoroughbreds didn't like that so they went on to publicly say: "Fuck Tech. Fuck VT." blah, blah, blah and to publicly call out some kid who had expressed interest in VT despite what his classy coaches advised him not to do.
2. These "sketchy" guys while being dads, uncles, etc wanted access. London and UVA gave them that and let them in to Cvill whenever they wanted. Beamer wouldn't do that. So your "community activists" responded with... see point 1
Thoroughbreds did not do well for these kids. They funneled them to a program that was not good because they had gotten what they wanted. They openly stopped them from being approached by or attending VT events, coaches, etc. You may have noticed that many kids they "did well for" ended up leaving or transferring from the program they were funneled to.
So you want to sh*t on VT coaches and others that are not fans of them then I suggest you go to that Hoo message board yourself and be more welcome in your skewed point of view. Otherwise, do some basic research before talking or else follow your own advise and don't say anything at all.

Interesting. So what do you think VT's future with them will be? If the coaches are all a bunch of dads/uncles/family of these players, what was so detrimental about that as to not allow them access? I thought players' families were allowed access anyhow, since we're all about the family atmosphere. I think the VT bashing and funneling of players to LOLUVA was pretty stupid on the group's part, but is there irreparable damage done? It doesn't look like the group will be going anywhere. I can see why Beamer, being his very old school self, was very hesitant or reluctant to work with these people with recruiting and only wanted to work with the actual school coaches. I'm curious to see what our approach will be in the area with a brand new coaching staff and a clean slate in Virginia.
The old POP pass. Punish defenses for selling out to stop run. Auburn has been running this offense for the past few years. Think game tying touchdown with under a minute to go in 2013 Iron Bowl.
Lane Kiffin loved the play design so much he used it against Auburn later.

Sorta, yes. It wasn't the prettiest situation, but they at least wrapped it up petty quickly and at least got what seems like a solid hire in place while the rest of the department gets its stuff together.
Such an underrated movie.
It happened as often as Frank was allowed to do so by the NCAA, with the exception of last year cause, yknow, throat surgery.
Soooo did we really just go and outhire Georgia, in terms of hot name plus experience? Way to go Whit! While I thought VT was gonna be pretty attractive post Beamer, I am pleasantly surprised that we are primed for the best hire of this year's coaching carousel.
And Illinois.
I don't disagree with that at all, it just seems weird to me that so many seem to be questioning play design or system, as if that's the part that's the biggest upgrade here. Loeffler is very good at designing plays (especially the short to intermediate passing game) that played to the strengths of his best players. The only problem is, designing and calling/executing are different things. Still, I'll always be grateful to Loeffler for what he did with the O, if for no other reason than it's in a far superior position now to what it was when he took over. I see him in much the same way as I do Weaver at this point. Obvious shortcomings, but I think we'll see the next guy have success thanks to what he was able to do.
I'm not sure you are aware of the thoroughbreds situation at all.

1. We didn't steer clear of it, we let our offense become so repulsive that players didn't think it was good enough for them. AND THEY WERE RIGHT.
2. These "sketchy guys" are fathers, uncles, "community activists", and entrepreneurs who give their time, much of it far below market value, in order to help kids many of whom come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds 1) develop as football players 2) develop as men and 3) raise their visibility among college coaches.
Thoroughbreds did well for alot of these kids. VT "fans" if that is what you are, who can't respect what they do should STFU.
So you want to sh** on Thoroughbreds, and the high school coaches. Anyone else you want to alienate? Go back to your HOO message board. You won't have to worry bout the Thoroughbreds or HS coaches any more. With JF and BF at VT, they'll all be playing for us.

I don't think anything is irreparable, especially with Fuente coming in now. But the issue was that Beamer and Co talk directly to families, not middlemen. And these coaches wanted to be the gatekeepers to these kids and their families. Is that right or wrong? I think that is up to the coach, but in this case, given how truly classy the thoroughbred coaches responded I would say the correct decision was made at the time.
Now it's up to Fuente. By all accounts he is a no-nonsense guy, so I am doubtful of him putting up with it either.
