It definitely would have been interesting to watch it play out. Part of me is glad ND lost to Stanford because I hate ND.

On the other hand, it would be interesting if you are correct and 1-loss ND (I'll remind you their loss was by 2 points to the #1 team in the country on the road) got snubbed out of the playoff by a P5 conference member with a very similar resume but an arguably much worse loss.

I don't ever see ND becoming a full member of the ACC (or any conference, really) but if they had a magical season and were left out of the playoff for being independent that might make them reconsider. I'd like to see the hell that a decision like that would unleash in South Bend.

Just like UVA, it doesn't matter who Miami hires....they will be better. Those two programs, our biggest rivals, have been near their nadir for quite some time now. It won't go on like that.

That's why we hired Fuente. Time to raise our game and take on all comers.

Could work, could fail.

Considering what we have in place here, if we get rolling to our potential, it won't matter who they hire, we'll be more than able to hold our own.

Richt is a good coach. Miami could be very dangerous with him at the helm.

I just think it would be interesting to have a high profile SEC coach residing in the ACC, I wonder if it would help out our national rep as a conference, which Clemson is doing a bang up of that right now, but it would def give us some weight as a whole.

I think Richt will make Miami better but still beatable. It will elevate the perception of the ACC because I think Miami will win 8-10 games fairly consistently but I don't think he'd be a threat to lock up the coastal every single year. The ACC is making moves to be a very dangerous league in the not-too-distant future.

Just taking the chance to voice my annoyance with our repeating schedule with ECU. According to hokiesports.com we don't play them in 2021, but the other 9 out of 10 years we unfortunately do.

Good fit for Richt.

If he or literally anyone else is hired, Miami is "back".

I am not concerned in the least.

Isn't Dickey the interim HC? Didn't seem likely he was coming over anyway

TG and Wiles were the on;y assistants at the Press briefer, unless he has a DC offering I think TG stays Fuente would be crazy to lose him

I like to believe that Bud is just going to be reinvigorated by this turn of events.

Yes, HC Foster has a nice ring to it. But there's nothing wrong with taking this situation, embracing the legitimate opportunity that defending multiple score leads will be in our near future, and unleashing the full potential of a Foster defense.

We could easily be seeing the beginning of Foster achieving legendary status as a DC. It's not hard to imagine a new string of top 5 Defensive rankings.

I just got the feeling over the past decade that Foster has grown increasingly frustrated with the offensive woes of this team. I'm not saying he mailed it in the last couple seasons defensively. But I think it took the edge off of him in recruiting, and in play calling, and honestly, in a bit of a lack of passion from the D players on occasion.

Now he's got his match offensively, and the natural competition that engenders to have his D be better than the O.

He's got incentive to be better. To recruit better. To gameplan better. To defend a non-GT running QB better. (I know. Fuck you krak_t).

I don't know what next year is going to look like. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we look downright silly on the offensive side, given the new schemes, the new starting QB, etc...

But I think on the Defensive side, with Settle settling in to a still absolutely stacked D-line, with our LBs playing better, and with our DBs young AND experienced, Foster is going to have all the tools to demonstrate once again why so many other programs have tried to pouch...er... poach him away.

I want Clemson to win it all. There's no downside for us when two ACC teams win the national championship in three years.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and I was certainly lucky and not good this week. I had my receivers completely wrong, and I picked the wrong Bears RB in my turkey and bourbon haze on Thursday.

I want Clemson to lose to UNC to shut up the Clemson fans I know (and am surrounded by). But now that makes it less likely we get the Belk Bowl soooo... IDK

CFP will select on Sunday, and everything else will follow that. Most if not all matchups will be set on Sunday.

I assumed they are an intra-divisional opponent. Are they not?

Going to assume you genuinely think this, but I can't understand it.

I am willing to bet money that the message Foster received from the conversation was not: "if you're a defensive coach, give up your dream of being a HC".

Box 1 might bug you, but that's what Whit is paid for. To decide the direction of the programs through the Head Coaching hire. you can disagree with him on that, but I think it's too far to think he is sending crappy messages or disrespect by believing in his direction for the program.
