I think one of the issues is that he DIDNT continually win the SEC east.

It would be a great grab for Miami. Richt is coming from a big name SEC team that continually won the east and had 9-10 win seasons. Recruiting will come easy, and given the state of the coastal (granted I believe it to be on the upswing) they could come in and be competitive immediately.

I don't believe it to be a BAD thing for us, as I believe the Fuente impact will be felt immediately.

I think it would be a good thing for the ACC Coastal and, overall, the ACC.

Man the luster wore off real fast here. Guys not even been the HC for three days and already people are criticizing an offer that went out. I know Fuente should have already signed the number 1 class for 2016 and 17 already but maybe we cut him some slack for the first month or so.

This has been my understanding as well.

I think I saw a quote from Fuente yesterday that strongly implied more of his staff will be joining him in Blacksburg after their bowl game. He didn't want his departure to be any more disruptive to Memphis than it had to be. Class act.

Obviously if he gets promoted to head coach, he won't be coming here, but the rumors I've been reading seem to point to Missouri's DC getting the job, so I wouldn't rule out Dickey yet.

that would be an amazing opportunity for Shane. He could easily be a Dabo type orchestrating a top notch staff. USCe is a big jump, but that would be awesome.

Not disagreeing with you at all. I probably should have put a little sarcastica on the illegal part.

It is a beautiful play and I'm sure the OL coach had a chat with his boy on the execution error. I just happened to notice him down field and was thinking it could have been flagged. The nice thing about all that action going on in this offense is there is a lot for a referee to watch which makes it a little more difficult to catch those things live. Plus, as noted above...ACC refs, they sometimes don't get after ya.

Holy shit that would be HUGE. Talk about coaching tree. Basically planting one of these.

There's a downside because their fans are the worst (I went to Clemson and I live in upstate SC) and have absolutely no respect for VT.

I think Fuente will make us serious contenders. And we couldn't be hiring him at a better time. We're going to need everything we can to compete in this league. I think in 4-5 years the ACC will become the new SEC. Teams all around the league are serious about upgrading. Teams like Miami, UNC, VT, Clemson, FSU, NCSt, Pitt, UVA have a lot of potential to be really really good teams in a few years.

Same bowl two years in a row though?

And to think, not too long ago some Hokies were complaining of going to those Orange and Peach Bowls

Their receivers are good after the catch, look like pretty good blockers too. Both important skills to teach if you throw a lot of screens.

Notre Dame definitely could have made it interesting. I just look at where the committee had Oklahoma (#3) and Notre Dame (#6) ranked before last weekend and who they played. Would you view the #11 Oklahoma St. victory as that much worse than #9 Stanford had Notre Dame won? I don't think they would have punished OU for winning, especially considering how dominant the victory was. ND likely would have jumped MSU and Iowa for #4, but then what do you do with the B1G champion (either Iowa or MSU)? I don't see how OU could fall from 3 to 5, and I don't think the B1G champ gets left out. So ultimately, I believe ND would have been left out. Probably would have been #4 this week and then jumped by the B1G champ after this weekend.

I understand the better loss argument for ND over OU, but I don't think that would have justified punishing OU by moving them down after beating Oklahoma St. and clinching the Big 12 title. Like last year, Baylor and TCU had better losses than OSU, but I think all else being equal, that outright conference title was the tiebreaker.

I'd be interested to see if any Memphis recruits will follow Fuente to VT, pending he still offers them from VT. I don't know who they are looking at though and what they need as to compared with who we are looking at and what we need.
