I'll take the long odds on the short, turkey-looking one. I mean the tall one looks like it might rob a liquor store. Amirite?

Don't see any of the current coaches on Fuente's follow list. Is that disrespectful, or do they just have bigger fish to fry? Is Shane planning on sticking around? In what capacity, if any at all? Has there been any statement on this beyond the initial #marinades that Shane would be retained? Given that we've heard nothing of the sort since the weekend, I doubt it's true.

There is no better sauce than the official announcement by the university, amirite?

It's not a big deal, alot of people just thought it was pretty weak if he is planning on stickin around for another yr or so esp when coach fu doesn't have to keep him, I'm sure its out of respect for frank, how bout some respect for coach fu while your still here.

Personally, I'm keeping expectations low. Whenever there is coaching turnover, I don't generally expect that we can fairly evaluate any results (good or bad) until at least year 3. If we succeed, awesome, but I'll only start judging Fuente a couple years down the road that means he has staying power and he's worth the hype. I'm excited by the hire, because I think he's a great coach and is set up to succeed, but instant expectations of a turnaround are probably premature. Our offense is going to get overhauled, and it may be bumpy until it's really ready.

Who's to say he can't have instant success though? Although I'm not sure how our current personnel fits with his scheme, you have to think such an offensive whiz would be able to form some sort of presentable offense with the likes of Hodges, Ford, Phillips, McMillian, and (hopefully) Lawson. I may be all caught up in the newness of the coaching change or whatever, but if we aren't at least in the top 2 of the coastal next season I'll be surprised.

How do you have any clue the Beamer family's financial situation? Not trying to be a douche, this a serious question.

Shane is part of his father's staff and his obligation is to work with the team to prep them for a bowl game. Manufactured drama about who he follows or unfollows on Twitter seems absurd to me.

Over the same period of time 2010-Present, Beamer is at just under $300K/win. So essentially half the price. I am sure that the value increases significantly through the 2000s and 1990s as we were winning 10+ games most years and paying him significantly less.

But as of now isn't he staying at tech? He hasn't left yet is my point. When he is gone that's a diff story.

The solution is simple: Navy should stop winning football games, especially against West Point.

"You had a good run, Shane, but it's time we tried someone else. Maybe you can come back in a few plays years. Surely you understand that."

Table needs some updates. USC hired Helton. Toledo's now looking, after their coach took the Iowa State job. Minnesota should probably be added for the sake of completeness. And didn't I read yesterday that Memphis hired Mizzou's DC, or was that just a rumor that has not yet been confirmed?

I thought burden pulled in some nice guys on short notice, when he has more time I'd say he would probably pull in some big time recruits plus you get a guy that knows the 757 and got us back in the door at ocean lakes.

But did he swap them out every other play?

Seriously, the issue wasn't with having 17 different running backs touch the ball throughout the game. The issue was the manner in which those 17 RBs got their carries. If we run a different RB for each quarter of the game but all of their snaps are strung together logically then I don't have an issue with a RB rotation.

When you put JC in for one play and then pull him out for McMillian and then throw Trey in on 3rd down that just makes absolutely no sense to me. Give a guy at least an entire series of plays. Not one play each for 3 different guys on a 3-and-out drive. Rinse. Repeat. That's just dumb.

Bowl game ticket allotment has changed ALOT in the last three years. First schools are not required to sell as many tickets and then eat the cost. Second tickets sold by the schools are getting better.

Those might be the only two tweets of his I've read that I didn't need to be high to understand. Dude could come from left field sometimes.

To be fair, money is not much of an issue for the Beamer clan at this point. So while he may WANT to find a new job to advance his career (which is normal), he by no means HAS to. He could just retire and raise his family wherever he dang well pleases.

To be clear, I'm not downplaying the emotional roller coaster that occurs when you're let go from a job. I've been there and it sucks. I'm just pointing out that, unlike most people who get fired, the monetary issue is not an issue.

I'm sorry I must have missed where Shane has "thrown a temper tantrum" he stopped following a guy he isn't going to work for end of the story. When Shane makes a public comment or even a semi private comment that seems out of place and character then maybe we can call into question his maturity. Until then cut the guy a little slack.
