I can't be the only one who thinks all of the pictured uniforms/helmets are pretty sick (minus the Hokie Stone mock-up). I get that many find our color choices odd, but damn, it's college football and you might as well have some fun with it. LOLUVA goes from mocking the lack of a national title, to redneck jokes, to uniform-mocking. That knocks out every line on the pretentious check-list.

With all due respect, I would put Bud Foster and his defensive staff as higher than

competent to good

If we lose Bud, its not the end of the world, but he is an Elite DC.

The ACC scored another big win yesterday, with NC State holding freshmen phenom Ben Simmons to only four points as the Wolfpack took down #22 LSU.

Playing devil's advocate, what if we knew we could get a next big thing coach (i.e. Fuentes) and instead give Bud the nod as a lifetime achievement award only to see VT flounder as many suggested it may under Bud and then we see Fuentes be wildly successful at Miami or some other program in a similar place to VT.

If Bud finds a P5 HC job elsewhere and he is successful then kudos to him. I wish him nothing but the best should he stay at VT or pursue the rest of his career elsewhere. If the new HC isn't successful, Whit will take flak for it regardless of the back story.

What?

That never happened. Beamer has said he doesn't like the coach in waiting title but Bud has never said he doesn't want the VT coaching job. In fact he's stated openly that he does want it.

Hate to lose a seven footer but its not hard to believe that Buzz might bring in a more skilled big man to replace him, just look at this year, Blackshear and Hamilton are contributing 12 points and 12 boards across 30 minutes a game right now. Khadim Sy, the signee for next year is already 6'10, 245 Lbs and still growing, still learning the game of basketball. So far through 7 games this year for Oak Hill, he is averaging 8.3 PPG and 7.3 RPG against the top high school competition in the country. I have faith that if Buzz feels he has to push Satchel out, it will be with someone already lined up to take his place. Its sad, but its also what D-1 basketball has become if you arent one of the schools getting all blue chip players. I thought Pierce under Buzz was really going to improve but so far we havent seen it.

I didn't say I think they'll be competitive.

I said THEY think they'll be competitive.

I think that they made a huge mistake, and don't understand the impact of tradition in both basketball and football.

What?

They did whore themselves out for money, but they also convinced themselves that if they went to the Big 10, it would help with recruiting.

Their strategy was to join the Big 10, get their athletic programs profitable, invest in facilities, and eliminate sports that they don't have a chance of winning.

I think they were short-sighted, but it doesn't mean they don't very much want to have a successful football program. Their bankroll is Kevin Plank, CEO of Under Armour, who played football at UMD.

Not to be negative regarding your post, which I think is great, but journalistic integrity is long gone. In a couple weeks, we'll hopefully have a new coach, and every other #source that had the hot beat on a new coach will be irrelevant. We don't exactly go back into our twitter feeds and subject journalists who are wrong to scrutiny... In the days of 24/7 news, we move on to the next hot topic.

If we did, Adam Schefter would have been out of a job years ago.

Correct but hardly any for things like keeping Div. 1 sports team afloat, increasing the budget for athletic dept hires or for helping pay coaching buyouts.
