He's giving them $25 million for their new sports facilities.
if you think UMD will ever compete with blue bloods like OSU and UM I don't know what to tell you. UMD is never going to win the B1G. Ever. They had to know that going in. They had a chance to win in the ACC. They might have even had a shot in the Big XII. But the B1G is a conference that UMD absolutely will never have a chance to win in football. I just don't think UMD takes football that seriously. I don't think they ever will. They're a basketball school.
Koma's piece on AJ brought back so many memories.
Bumping this fantastic and 110% true account of #PunterSwag.
That "bankroll" hasn't really given them that much money.
my head hurts.
I've been on the Tom Herman hype train from day 1. I've clung to the words from Whit "not to believe anything you hear"
I was starting to accept that Herman was unlikely and all I've been thinking about for the last 4 hours is how I feel about Fuente (I like him, FWIW)
Now I'm expecting Whit to hire someone completely out of left field. We'll probably end up with Dino Babers or something.
So TG stays here as DC?
So 60% of the time we beat them everytime?
They got sloppy in the second half, having only four turnovers in the first. Once they got up by 25 or so you could see them mentally switch off and they started making mistakes. Its part of the reason Buzz kept running new guys out there, to try to keep the attention level up. Too many guys trying to get cute, making a cross court pass or passing into traffic to try to get a highlight reel play towards the end of the game. The turnovers were spread around though, with only Clarke and Robinson at 3 each of the 15 total.
And over that time, he has systematically dismantled the unit which got those wins. I'm not an Eagles fan, but if I was, I'd be pissed. You trade away or let walk all your stars players out of arrogance that your scheme can overcome any and all personnel deficiencies. The Eagles have lost so much talent on offense (not just skill position - o-line too). He basically took apart the machine that Ried built, and remade the team in his own vision, and it's been a mess all year. And that's in an NFC East that is just atrocious this year (I mean, the Redskins are playing the Giants for first place this week - ew)
I know it's oversaid, but I'm interested in whichever type of spread puts the most points on the board using our personnel. I trust Whit first, and then the new coach after Whit pulls the trigger on him, to implement that. :)
I agree, but I think the NCAA should grow some balls and enforce their rules.
Is that you, Whit?
Whelp, so much for that dream, I'd forgotten about the sanctions.
Now KB is saying the other candidate still in play is in fact, Herman. Stop the merry-go-round, I want off.
No not even in top 15. VT is somewhere in the 30-40 range depending on what exact measurements you use.
If he goes Illinois or UMD, he'll never make the playoffs unless he wins the Big 10 outright. I don't see it happening, which is why UMD won't be offering.
UMD is like VT, in that they sort of need a "splash" hire.
I think if we bring in an Offensive Minded HC who also happens to be somewhat of a QB whisperer that will lead to exciting eye-popping numbers which will garner more of an audience and lead to the biggest up-tick in recruiting that is possible. Putting up 40 points per game is going to do more for recruiting than anything else. Hiring an offensive minded HC is the only way I really see that happening.
Offense first, then recruit to the defense to build that unit up. Build and build and become a contender.
Yes and No, JJ had both Hudson and Bibbs committed to Tech before he was fired. Buzz convinced both to stay on as part of the recruiting class considering how late in recruiting Buzz was able to start work.
Kyle Bailey just tweeted that Tom Herman is still in play. Sorry, on mobile.
Interesting, because Chris Low said last night that it is looking like Herman will likely not end up at USCe.
ECU is more of a sling-the-rock spread and I'm more interested in the power-running spread. I'd be fine with either, honestly. Anything has to be better than 'multiple'
Understandable. I grew up between Philly and NYC so the "fans that love to hate" are a familiarity to me. I like to stay up in Touchdown Terrace mostly because it's so relaxed. :)
Every team on this list is a Big Boy Recruiter
THIS seems to be the magic mix.
A top 5 defense is awesome. If nobody can score on you, that's a huge plus, but people can score against a top 20 defense, so you'll be need a high-power offense to go along with it if you don't have something that's completely "lock-down".
Mobile QB with a solid passing game? I'd take it. :)
Andy Dalton too...

Being that he is a pretty good athlete, would have been nice to see more fake punts in his time here-how about one this weekend against LOLUVA?
