# | A.J. Hughes Wraps Up Prolific Punting Career, Walking Out the Door with Mentor Frank Beamer Both of those point to Bud as an excellent candidate for HC.
Everything I have seen says Outlaw is out this season for a medical reason.
As for Hudson in my opinion, you hit on exactly why we have seen a decline of him being on the court.
"looking like a man possessed in taking the ball to the hoop."
That hasn't been there at all this year. He seems more timid and opts to pass it around in situations where last year he would have driven to the hoop. Its especially frustrating because this year with the rule changes, it makes his style of basketball so much easier to either score or get to the line. So far Hudson is 1-7 from the field this year, going 0-3 from outside. Look at Clarke, Robinson and Allen already this year and you can see that by going to the hoop, you are going to get to the line quite a bit if you aren't able to score. Hudson has not shown that he has flipped that switch and until he does, he probably has to scrap for minutes.
You have to think part of it is how much Buzz seems to favor his own guys on the court, considering we are regularly seeing a rotation of all the new guys much more than any of the returners not named Bibbs or Henry.
There is also the fact that we aren't running three and four "guard" sets as much now that we have a solid rotation of big men with Henry, Blackshear, Leday, Hamilton, and occassionally Pierce. That leaves one less spot on the floor for Hudson to break in. He essentially is competing with Clarke, Bibbs, and Allen to fill the 2 and 3 spots on the floor right now. It will only get worse if Hill is able to return this season. Its kind of why I would see Hudson leaving the program before Pierce, mainly because he has shown the talent to be on the court for most Power Conference schools.
If memory serves, the winning formula averaged out to having a top 10 defense and top 25 offense.
-------
I'd go along with this. I'd also go along with a top 10 offense and top 25 defense. Either of those is going to mean improved recruiting.
Torrian Gray if he doesnt leave with Bud.
Odom at Mizzou, excellent defense, great speed.
Shane Beamer? He's actually solid defensive coach, and South Carolina had some stacked defenses in his time there as a DB coach.
Ted Roof, not sure where he's at now, Ga Tech?
If we get an offensive minded coach, he's got to pair well with a defensive coach, not a great defense, but solid. Example, we score 60 and give up 50, but always winning. This might be where the Kirby Smart interest comes into play.
to be fair, they're making fun of our horrid uniform choices over the years. Like the Marshall Monsoon game uniforms. The Hokie Tracks helmets. Click that link and you'll see.
Foster has been a candidate for many head coaching jobs and it is not likely that this is the only opening he is being considered a candidate for. For example, he is a candidate for our head coaching vacancy as well ;)
I think he's talking about the turkey tracks and Hokie Bird helmets, not the regular throwback helmets.
You need both to get to where we want to go. Stopping the opponent yields the same result as scoring on the opponent in the final score. What we need is to be more balanced. I agree that we can't win with only defense just like some of these high octane offenses can't win when they get punched in the mouth by a good defense.
Edit:
I wonder sometimes, what is better:
A. #1 defense and #100 offense
B. #100 defense and #1 offense
C. #50 defense and #50 offense
I did some research one time about national champions since the bcs era started. If memory serves, the winning formula averaged out to having a top 10 defense and top 25 offense. I'd have to check again to be sure.
If it is Fuente Barry Odom is his previous DC, Tood Grantham is another potential choice but we would have to pay him a lot
Oh no, Alex is working on something even more Virginia Tech.
I also attended 03 game. Up 14-0 at half. Then we got Shaub/Heath'ed/Fake FG'ed. I've been to a couple since in C-Ville and very much enjoyed my time watching the W's pile up.
From the article with your answers,
While you shouldn't forget that Tech stinks, or that they make the most questionable fashion choices, you probably also want to know about the team on the field.
They wonder why people hate them.
I really think all these were pretty awesome. I would say overall my favorite year of lids.
The rust needs to come off soon, as shooting 32% isnt going to cut it when we are in close games, especially coupled with being below 70% from the line. He just seems to be off in all aspects of the game from where he was for Maryland. 10% less from the field, the line and behind the arc. Twice as many turnovers. You can tell he is a scorer but we probably will be better off with him scoring from the 2 position rather than the point until he gets things figured out.
^^ You took the words right off of my keyboard.
That ECU punt has GOT TO BE one of the greatest plays of the year. In all the land.
A.J. did that in the wind and pouring rain.
Don't worry, won't happen again. Frank won't ever have another last regular season game for us to wear a throw back helmet.
QB Matt Johns is tied for the lead among FBS quarterbacks in completions. To the opposing defense (15 interceptions).
Masterfully presented. Hilarious and informative.
Yeah, its looking more and more that way. Part of it is drive I think though, cause even when he gets in, he seems to move a step slower than the rest of the squad. He did have a nice pass in the lane to Donlon at the end of the game but that was about it.
That's what she said.
I am going to have my analysis of Iowa State hopefully done by Friday. That should give you an idea of what to expect. Being a bigger school, there is a lot more published about style of play and quirks of their roster than the smaller teams we have been playing so I should have a much more rounded evaluation for you.
That was Glenn Campbell. Silly.
Because character is what you do when other people aren't looking.
In my book, it's better to live life the right way.
Nor have they've made the playoffs which, given the free reign chip has, you figure they'd at least be on top of the nfc east by now

Let's see a picture, but with the leg he has why would he need a polo mallet?
