Honestly, beating P5 teams in Lane has become a bit of a rare occurrence. It's why we will have a new coach in a couple weeks. So I thoroughly expected us to get our doors blown off by a red hot UNC team.

Every VT game Ron Cherry's crew does always comes down to a few calls that decide the game. D-line was getting held like crazy but only holding called on VT.
17th Ranked S&P offense, scores 42 points a game. VT gave up 24 in regulation. Just wrong about the defense.
I'll give you that the D played a pretty good game all in all. But, let's not selectively forget how they got gashed for the 2 scoring drives - largely by Hood running. I don't give our D a pass. They too have been very inconsistent all season.

I was fine with everything until overtime. Loeffler is terrible. No creatively. Sweep left, same exact fucking play to the right? He did that before another point in the game. Where is the playaction? Counters? Just so stupid and pathetic. I think he could be good but be gets lost in his own playsheet. Good riddance.

Offensively, what more needs to be said. Nobody should return, the entire offensive coaching staff is shit on a stick.
Defensively, that was pretty bad, too. Outside of those gifted turnovers, they were pretty terrible today. This is a defense that needs 4 offensive TDs to win every game, because they're gonna give up 27.
We are so bad in every phase of the game that I would be ok if every single coach on this staff was fired after next week. Including the defense.

Sadly, it's been the recipe all season. I'd love to see our scoring by quarter on the season. It's gotta be heavily weighted to 3 and 4 Q. Too little too late in most cases.

I flipped it to CBS after the game and they showed a quick highlight of the team carrying Coach Frank Beamer. Sad that ESPN didn't stick around long enough to show that...
oh, good, VT can become an asterisk with North Texas and whatever 5-7 teams make it this year. I know you're just pointing out a fact. But, let's hope VT doesn't have to resort to Beamer's last season for the reason to get to a bowl game as opposed to making it based on merit.
