I would think that if you haven't succumbed to moral victories then your expectations haven't lowered that much.
Too bad we weren't playing horseshoes.
Atmosphere was great today, people stayed in their seats for 10-15 minutes after the loss. Sad to see Beamer go but excited for the future and to see who I'll be cheering for next year. Also good to see Loeffler go, will not be missed.

# | Hokies Nearly Earn Storybook Lane Ending for Frank Beamer, Drop Home Finale to UNC 30-27 in OT The biggest thing about the 'catch' was that it literally took them 10 seconds to review it. They took their time reviewing the RB stepping out of bounds and the fumbles but they just glossed over this. It makes me feel like they had no intention of overturning it at all even the moment they reviewed it. It's insulting.
Ahmen to Loeffler! Still a great effort by all players.
Hopefully they'll lose to FSU and beat bama
Statues of living guys weird me out.
If we make it into a bowl at 5-7, it will be on merit. Beamer's lasting legacy will be the improvement in team academics. We've never been on probation for poor academics in the Beamer era. It may not be the preferred method of securing a bowl bid, but I'll certainly hang my hat on qualifying based on academic merit.
Sadly our team has lowered my expectations so much the last few years that I cannot even take the moral victory of taking a vastly superior and better coached team to overtime. At least Fosters boys did well and he might have put in a good feather in his cap to stay as coach or DC. Time to beat timecop...
Ron Cherry has been worse. We had opportunities in the first half that we did not take advantage of that deserve a bigger FU.
What blew me away even more was how quickly they made the review. Clearly the official in the booth was just trying to get the game wrapped up with both sidelines already on the field.
Boondock Saints...Here's a leg
...and had to struggle to beat a 2-8 FAU team.
Yes, 20 bad offensive play calls. (Couldn't resist.)
Jackson is the new Lawson.
Davis kept the ball. On replay, Ford didn't at all. It bounced away.
Ford's was a much clearer non-catch than Davis's, but really both should have been incomplete.
Sadly, only one was.
I'm not blaming Ron Cherry for anything. In fact, most of the calls were accurate, and he's at least clear in his presentation.
However, the issue I have with that final TD is that we had the exact same situation on our last TD, and they called it not a catch there. If that had been called a catch, I wouldn't have had an issue with the call at the end.
Consistency, that's the key. But that's not what I'm seeing from refs across the board this year.
Just heard UNC lost in Bbal today...Good. Fuck y'all.
Ford's honestly wasn't.
That's cool. I agree with you & I did forget the importance of the name. Statue sounds very appropriate.
Yep, and like I said I don't think that even Frank would be on board with changing the name.
To me, it looked like the ball didn't stop moving until his butt was on the ground out of bounds. That doesn't sound like control. I can understand why they did what they did and during the game might not have even blinked. But to end a game in overtime on a controversial call?
My main takeaways from this game.
-The team played their heart out. It was awesome to see them come back the way they did. That said, Brewer was still poor for a good 55 minutes of the game. Other than the deep pass to Ford, he was innaccurate and stared down his recievers all day in addition to not throwing the ball OOB if pressured.
- Defense was great and did what they had to do to win. Some breakdowns here and there but any decent offense would complement how they stopped a Top 10 offense in the country.
-Dadi. Why. Bullshit move by him. Joey Slye also takes a bit of blame for the missed FG.
-Loeffler. He needs to get the fuck out ASAP. After a great last minute drive to even the score, he resorts to his old ways in OT instead of maintaining the momentum. Piss poor calling all throughout. Going from a 3rd and 1 on their 12 to a 4th and 22 is unnacceptable, although Brewer takes some of the blame for that as well.
-Obviously not a catch. No discussion there.
-Crowd brought it. Loud and rowdy with some awesome 'Beamer' chants. Sad to see Beamer's last home game go like this, but honestly after we were down 24-10 I thought it was over, so I'm not too upset.
I like it. 1st and 10 from the Beamer yard line. Jackson takes the snap. Airs it out. TOUCHDOWN VT. FORD MAKES A MIRACULOUS CATCH

If UNC beats Clemson and sneaks into the playoffs, wins the semifinals game, and plays OSU in the NC game; does that mean that VT is the 3rd best team in the country?
