The D held a very potent O to 7 in the first half, a half in which our O couldn't seem to do much of anything... 2 trips to the red zone for 3 points?? We get a turnover at about the 30 and have to punt??? The entire 2nd half is different if we're up 13-7 or 17-7 like we very easily could have been. A good offense like UNCs is gonna eventually get it going, but it would have been easier to defend with a lead and making them 1 dimensional
lol no.... Do you know the importance of the name? It would be just a slap in the face to the Worsham family. Build a statue of him in front of the stadium, maybe like by the entrance between North and West side or wherever... Now I would be all for that!

Change the red zone to the Beamer zone.
Unfortunately he did the classic hop, limp, limp, collapse after it happened. Every time I see someone tear an acl while still on their feet they do this exact thing. I'm sure as hell no doctor, I have never torn my acl, and don't know what causes this reaction, but I'm 90% sure that's what it was.

Agree. There are different ways to contribute. Worsham Field just sounds right.

I do think it would be cool, per NCAA regs to have 25 yard line marked for long time to come.

It would pretty disrespectful to one of the most philanthropic booster that is still alive to take his name off the field. Definitely should not do that. Beamer can be honored with something else. Beamer Barn becoming official makes most sense.
The best thing to do is to start up a fund for something to be named after beamer. Maybe Whit will work on this in the offseason.

No, just flat out No. Listen I love Frank for who he is and what he has done. But we already renamed a road to Beamer Way. We have a building nicknamed the Beamer Barn. Worsham and his family were supporting the team before Frank got here. They were a big money source for Tech when they didn't have anybody else. The field should stay Worsham Field.
Fair point. Also, I'm not saying I think he called a great game. I don't think he did and he has simply not put a good enough product on the field consistently. I was mostly commenting on the way we look at these things as fans sometimes. I will be glad to see a new OC with the reigns.
I disagree. I make superior playcalls all game long from my recliner every Saturday. My scheme is much simpler too. Run right with McMillan. Deep pass left to Ford, if covered check down to Rogers.
I think perspective is also a part of the problem. The OC may do much better if sitting 6 feet from the big screen instead of way up high in that uncomfortable box.
That's exactly what I see. Which is why I think it's a catch. I put the NCAA rule book definition in the "vent" thread, if you want to know the exact rule.
UNC was pretty predictable as well, and yet other than turning the ball over at critical times, they executed their predictable offense better.

Fumbles untouched are gifts. Fumbles that arise ONLY because the defensive player makes a hit are not.
If you mean that last sentence, then you need some professional help. It is a GAME.
In year 1 of the offense, getting out-executed is understandable. In year 3, getting out-executed by a defense in year 1 is not.

So the debate is really: (1) did he have control? (2) did he lose control? - The ball is allowed to move.
The NCAA rules never define control. Is control having the ball in your hands the entire time. Is control something more? We know control is allowed "slight movement." When does movement become more than "slight movement"? I don't think Refs truly know. I think most people here argue he didn't have control. But, I don't see how a ball can be in your hands the entire time and not be in control. Definitely arguable and both arguments valid.
It's not calling plays that's the hard part.
The hard part is designing an offense that flows together, so that the defense can't know what's coming based on formation/personnel/down&distance. That is Loeffler's main problem. He has a vanilla run game that is quite predictable.
