You can redshirt a kid up to 1/6th of the snaps for a season (I think that's the ratio), but it may need to be accompanied by an injury. Shouldn't be too tough to find an injury on a RB with a sore hamstring and 2ACL's in the last 24 months.
But...rumors have been that Shai said he would transfer if redshirted.

right now we're at 5.3 ypc for the backs and 8.5 ypa for the QBs...against the extremes of competition
last year we ran 4.5 ypc and 6.2 ypa for the season
It's a shame either team won this game, would have liked to see both lose. UVA played above their heads and still managed to blow a close game, however I am looking forward to seeing the annual mid to late season meltdown . As usual ND is highly overrated ( secondary is not good) . Don't think the acc schedule for ND will be the cakewalk that they were looking forward to.

My two favorite metrics for this offense: (1) yards per carry by the backs; and (2) yards per (edit: attempt).
The first is an index of how well the line blocks and the backs execute on basic designed run plays. No tricks, no scrambles. A good number would be about 5. The second is an indicator of the downfield passing game. That number needs to be around 9.5.
Achieve both of those metrics, i.e., demonstrated competency in both running and passing, and most everything else falls into place, imo.

i agree. for a small sample size, not necessarily meaningful. but that is true for most/all stats
as a season-long metrics for a team striving to achieve a balance of power running and pro-style passing, i think these are pretty solid indications of whether Lefty and the offense are progressing.

fair enough. I think the whole point behind this segment is to get snapshots of where the offense stands compared to last year instead of just looking at the season as a whole in 3 months. It might be interesting to look at those stats in 5 weeks or so but at least this early in the season it's probably not super telling.

The region of DC or city in California they moved to after graduation.
Explosive plays. We were near the bottom of the country in this last year, and I felt is was something that really hurt the offense.
Also, average starting field position - to help account for what the D/special teams are doing to help or hurt the offense.

The thing about the option, is there is 1 less defender they need to block. I haven't done any film on GT but I am guessing they often have 2 guys unblocked that they read for their "triple option". It gives them a numerical advantage on paper. Throw in the motion presnap and you put an extra blocker on one side while the defender has to run across the formation to try and make a stop before they get 3-4 yards.
In summary, 4 TB's.....all with pros/cons.
We don't have a RW/DW/LS/KJ. We've got a Imoh, Humes, Burnell and Stith. Need to squeeze the best we can out of that 4.
