He got trashed by Miami last year and he missed the gap against BC which sprung their QB for their winning TD. Look at the plays that French talks about in his latest write up. Moto is routinely in the wrong gaps and unable to shed blocks. Many times he takes the gap of another and ends up not only getting blocked but getting the other defeder whose gap it is blocked as well or forcing them to take a terrible angle to tackle. See Zeke's 80 yd run. If there isn't proper play by him this week Foster needs to take some serious look at his position. That position has me very worried especially if he plays against GT. If he misses gaps like has a tendency to do in that game GT is gonna have field day.
You know it's bad when the equipment managers troll you on Twitter:
Not sure how this happens maybe #Holding? Get the sewing machine ready! pic.twitter.com/XwdL9LBapz— VT Equipment (@VTEquipment) September 10, 2015
So it sounds like Bud outsmarted himself. Hey it is a guessing game every week. BTW great write up AGAIN French. An ACC crew missed that hold? Sure that that will be sent to the ACC offices. Shades of Tom Brady! Truly the way Moto looked find a SR that does not give a shit about his body and tell him to pick a hole any hole and run over whoever is there. He will be right 50% of the time.
I'd take another Brewer in a heartbeat.
11W also has a very strong breakdown of the route concept that lead to the Elliott catches and the Miller touchdown catch. Great stuff here.

I was hoping that they wouldn't bring their band. I don't believe that we took ours.
Different movie but i felt it might go well here

I can tell I'm old school...."best team in the country" don't mean jack s*** to me, i get not being able to get off blocks against that competition, but not being able to make the reads, get in position, etc...nah, that's you not them.
It sure seemed like Lebron James was in a similar situation yet look what happened...If the time comes and Rich Rod is open to a return, I'm sure 'Eer fans will be happy to have him back. Time heals.
He played a 4 game stretch where the safeties playey terribly and then came in this season against the undisputed best team in the country.
With a R-Fr Brewer as the 2nd/3rd string option?
it didn't help matters that Motley wasn't make the correct reads on the jet sweep version of the inverted veer. He was run all the way or hand off all the way pre-snap and didn't read the DE or execute the fake properly.
You mean the TD where VT declined one holding penalty in order to accept the 2nd holding penalty? And the FG that OSU missed which was balanced out by the FG that VT missed?
VT didn't drop any balls? OSU didn't get any breaks (like the 8 yard long holding on Elliott's TD run)?
OSU is a great team, but with Brewer, VT outscored OSU 52-42 over the course of 6 quarters and change. At some point, you can't just ignore that.
Vandyke was rushing off the edge after Jones, who rolled right on his play. I didn't see "loafing" per say. It looks like RVD is running hard, but isn't moving very quickly.
SAM SMASH!!!
Perhaps Motu can room with Sam Rogers and become more Sam Rogers-like by osmosis?
The glaring issues are QB and MLB, we can fix everything else easily.
I don't know if lost is the right word. I think he was put into some really tough spots and he was out-physicaled. I said all along, I thought Kendall in the slot on running downs with Riley outside made a ton of sense and we saw a little bit of that. Fuller missed a tackle badly on the first drive of the game. I can't remember Kendall Fuller ever missing a tackle like that.
Facyson didn't give up a completion man to man. Other than a possible bust on the Miller TD (could have been him or Stroman) I thought he played well. He had one really nice low tackle on an Elliott run that bounced outside.
Chuck Clark got an A from me. He was amazing. I don't think another player on the defense can look at you and said they played their best game Monday night.
MOUNTAIN DEW! NO FAYGO!
Trying to spin this somehow...maybe French's analysis will make good bulletin board material for lighting a fire under some of our guys!
And all the games Chase Williams was hurt last season. 4? 5? something like that...I'd say half a season and a whole off-season of "you're the guy," without improvement is enough to make a call...
He has started 1 game this season.
Sorry, but an "exciting" new HC hire isn't going to make a dent in VT's recruiting. Look at the programs ranked ahead of VT on last year's recruiting rankings and tell me how many you think VT can realistically pass because of a new coach? Maybe a few? Maybe?
VT's Rivals star average last year at #22 was 3.25. There is essentially no difference from #16 to #28. The highest avg score from #16 and down was 3.36. #15 was Penn State who got a bump with their shiny new toy at HC. So unless you think a new coach could consistently (and not just a 1 or 2 yr bump) leap VT into the top 15, what does it really mean? Maybe an extra .05 or .10 of a star on average if you're lucky?
