The more I look into that 1992 season, the more similarities I see to our team now.
Great writeup and great timing as we get closer to the start of the season. I wholeheartedly agree with your best/worse case sentiment. I've only made it to one game a year in Lane the past few seasons, but getting to introduce some new friends, my girlfriend, and my mom to VT football tailgates and games has been phenomenal. I've definitely seen a shift in how VT football affects my emotions from when I was a student immersed in it to being an alumnus for a few years. The passion doesn't fade, but the heart-wrenching losses don't sting for quite as long these days.
F those guys.
No, but OSU fans can be very fickle. Watch what happens if the Buckeyes lose to VT 2 years in a row. Hopefully, you will be spared that. :)
Want part #2 about the ND screwjob? They keep 100% of the bowl revenue they get. If they take our NY6 spot, the ACC misses out on those funds that year.
True on all counts! They hate anyone who doesn't step in line with their views.
Well we know one thing for sure now. Tech wil not be playing in the Fiesta Bowl this year.
I think TKP has by far the best user interface.
I agree and I'm not suggesting losing any of the current functionality, but adding something that could make it easier to browse new comments in a thread if you're on a mobile device where you can't hit "N" to jump between them
I don't see VT at 11-2 being left out of the playoffs over an 11-2 SEC team (assuming we put up a fight on Labor Day).
My brother Dan Smith whom was a Navy F-18 pilot and also is a pilot for Delta Airlines, just moved to Pensacola as a Navy flight instructor (Navy Reserves, I think). Have you had him as a trainer?
The funny thing is, I don't understand how the Russell Athletic bowl is ahead of the Music City bowl in the pecking order. Who wouldn't want to hang out in Nashville for a few days and play an SEC team? Of course that's just me thinking. I guess you could go to Disney World in FL.
Let's make sure the UVA AD is well aware of the Frank Beamer story. I have all the confidence in the world that London will turn UVA around and make them a powerhouse again.

# | Bitter blog - Hokies intend to redshirt Walker, Settle; plus more d-line notes I remember a lot of scuttlebutt about that. I know OSU removed their offer.
Those are the kind of guys who made up Brady Hokes recruiting classes. Many guys who looked good in pads and had 4 stars but didn't have great offers or great football ability.
If I remember correctly (and there's a decent chance I don't) ND can take the ACC NY6 bowl, pushing our champ to the Russell Athletic
Hmm, then I guess the Peach and Fiesta would have to fight it out for who gets Notre Dame and who gets the ACC champ, if Notre Dame actually warrants a NY6 bowl. Obviously whichever one gets the first pick of the two would go for Notre Dame with their enormous fan base. I don't know if there's a clear order between the Peach and Fiesta or if they just have to battle it out. I would think that in this case, since the ACC champ is displaced, they would have to be chosen by a NY6 game before Notre Dame, since they would sort of be an at-large bid and they can't just take the place of the ACC champ.
Yeah, I hope you got a backup plan...
Fuck ND. If they're 6-6 they will get athletic bowl because of the ND fan pull.
On another note how is our bowl drop off so bad Jesus. It's pretty piss poor IMO.
No surprise to me. I was disappointed on the team he went to, but he was instantly the best player in that backfield.
It IS pretty awesome, not gonna lie. And when the drumline from that era gets together, if it's long enough, references to those couple bowl trips (bowl games EVERY year are for entitled p--sies, why when *I* was your age grumble grumble argh ack pfft) inevitably surface.
Todd Mcshay has him as the number 1 pro prospect at WR. He had some of the most amazing plays I've ever seen.
I def. think you can argue he is number 1.
who is this "arguably the best wide receiver" you speak of? Michael Thomas? eh... Pretty sure Boyd @ Pitt is better. And that's just one guy from one ACC team.
Hang on, let me call a plumber...
Are alcohol & entertainment part of the cost of attendance?
Depends on the school. Miami? Yes. BYU? No. Everywhere else? Not sure.
I mean, Marshall hasn't even missed any practice time, even as a precautionary measure. They said he rolled the same ankle that he had the surgery on and it scared him. Kind of a Paul Pierce situation.
Word is that Dadi broke one of his fingers and will have to wear a soft cast for a while. If I had to guess it would be through the non conference slate, but since he may re-aggravate it that may extend throughout the season. Considering he, Fuller, Ezekiel Elliot, and many others have played with similar injuries to the hands and wrists I wouldn't expect either to miss playing time unless they just aren't playing well.

Not true. Per ESPN
