Agreed. At the very least, there needs to be some transparency. It's kind of a weird dynamic--the conduct committee isn't held to the same standard of evidence and lacks the transparency of a court, but in a lot of instances the punishments they dole out are a lot more severe. I think I would rather spend a few weeks in jail than be permanently dismissed from school. The long-term consequences of that are awfully weighty for a group of students to decide behind close doors. I don't like it at all, but like you said, it'd difficult judge the decision without any facts.

I do believe this is the same group that found Shai had not violated any student conduct rules. So I don't think they are willy nilly about dropping the banhammer. I just don't think that they should be given that power in the first place, especially as it seems that it stems from case overload. Instead if they come to the conclusion that dismissal seems like the only recourse I believe that it should be automatically reverted to an administrator who hears it fresh and gets Reavis' take first hand before making final decision, AND THEN have the appeal process after that.

I don't know the circumstances of this situation with CJ and while I liked everything about his play I do not know him as a person but he appeared to be liked by his teammates and coaches. As a father, it is very difficult to get kids to understand the concept of " don't put yourself in that situation" even when you show them examples. I have 2 high school boys that care about hokie football and I have used this to try and teach...obviously this is not the only teaching technique...

I agree regarding the support, but I don't think it's his option.
Just wow...so college kids are young, and sometimes need time to mature. That is unless they are certain kids, and in that case given benefit of the doubt, are fully mature, and have authority to kick other kids out of school without further oversight.
An administrative authority typically has many, many more years of experience to draw upon, having seen lots of screw ups in varying degrees. Things may well have ended up in the same place, but I will say this has opened my eyes. Damn me for never reading the fine print.

I guess that's what I don't get. I've read all the comments above but I don't see any specific comments beyond: it's bad.
Regarding Vaughn as Frank:
I've seen comments on other boards that Vaughn isn't believable in the role as a gangster because he comes off as too weak. Doesn't seem like a killer or ruthless enough to be believable as a bad man. You say you questioned him in a dramatic role. But my counter is that that seems to be exactly what his character is. Overall a weak pseudo-gangster that get's taken advantage of. Otherwise no way he gets ripped off for money and doesn't start just straight up killing people. To be sure, that's what the Russians would be doing. That's the character, a weak gangster that gets taken for money, and if so then Vaughn plays it very well. Until he reached his breaking point where there truly was no way out, and he starts killing people and burning shit down.

I will always support C.J. Reavis in his team. He sounds ready to put the nightmare behind him and move on with his young career. I would love for Reavis to re-join Hokienation but I'll understand if he doesn't.
I thought they did a pretty good job, except one glaring issue. Teller(83) is worse than McLaughlin(86)...

The student conduct committees have the same scope of authority as an administrative hearing officer, meaning they can sanction someone for anything ranging from a formal warning to permanent dismissal.

# | C.J. Reavis Releases Statement on His Transfer to JUCO East Mississippi Having never gone through the process, I have no clue. It would make perfect sense for that to be the case, but everything keeps mentioning the SCC and nothing else, so that is what everyone is going off of.
Couldn't make it to the spring game, but i have heard nothing but great things about him. Our rb corps is shaking up to be great in the future. If our recruiting could do this with ol consistently and mix in a few more safety and lb high octane recruits, VT goes from 7-6 last season to a possible 12-0 next year. I don't know how other acc recruitment is going, but I can see a point, hopefully soon, where we get back to being conference champions regularly.
Love it when a guy can be consistently elusive with the ball and make something out of nothing, and I think McMillian brings that. When is the last time we had this many potential weapons on offense? 2010 comes to mind. I know some are young and unproven, but I am just putting it out to consider that we may have a GOOD offense this year. A unit that wins games for us. Implausible becomes plausible. My calendar reads August 5th and this may be an everybody is undefeated August kind of post but it all adds up right now and I am calling something special around the corner for us. I expect that when I get home from BofA stadium (in Charlotte) 4 months from today and re-post this comment in past tense, it will line up.
"Any case like this should be reviewed and given final judgement by someone in a real position with the university" . It is my understanding his appeal was heard by a dean of student affairs . Is this not correct?
If he had raped or beat up a girl we would've known. If he had gotten some drunk in public charge or an illegal possession of a fake ID charge we would be able to see it online. If he had cheated it would've been in honor court last semester (spring '15). Honestly, what he did couldn't possibly have been that bad and I'm pretty pissed that some kid who just transferred to Maryland ratted CJ out about something that's probably minor. Hey maybe my head isn't in the right place but I can't be the ONLY one thinking this.
