It was a first pitch, didn't fill up until the 4th. Recorded attendance was 36,000 and it looked pretty close to that. I'm surprised that it didn't sell out. I know tickets were hard to come by the day of.

He sells the popcorn to the opposing team as a symbol of friendship and sportsmanship, but in reality it is so they get that buttery oil all over their hands. Then they cannot tackle or catch and fumble the ball a lot.

Beamer's critics (of which there aren't many) mistake his level-headedness for the lack of a killer instinct, as if a man could win 251 college football games without it. He's intensely competitive. His son, Shane Beamer, tells a golf story to make the point. A few summers ago, Shane, an assistant coach at Tech, showed up at the family's lake house and beat his dad the first time they played.
"I made the mistake of coming home and gloating a little bit around my mom and my wife and people who were in the house," Shane Beamer says. "He just sat there and listened, never said a word. Then for the next two weeks, he proceeded to beat the heck out of me. Never said a word about it but made his point very clear. That's him in a nutshell." As much as Beamer wants to stay in the comfortable middle, he's also always preparing to lose it because it does get lost at some point. His teams are 1-19 against top five opponents. The sun has not shone every day in Blacksburg. Still, it rises, and Beamer doesn't lose sight of that.

The whole point of pushing touchbacks on kickoffs to the 25 was to lessen the number of kickoff returns (which it has done) yet teams aren't taking enough advantage of it.
Having players drafted outweighs their inability to win games. They have 7 players drafted, including 2 in the first round this year. That grabs a recruit's attention. That and being in South Florida.

Somehow, that hasn't hurt their ability to recruit.

Bill Connelly isn't really a "talking head" in the true sense. He does statistical analysis- from a purely statistical standpoint, Miami's most recent bout of mediocrity (from 2010 on) is pretty inexplicable.

Was lucky enough to be in the countryside in China without U.S. TV or internet for this one. All of my friends went and made a weekend of it... I think I eventually watched the game a year or so later.
I'm with you 100% on everything you said. Honestly, looking at our schedule, even if we drop tOSU game (that's an if still), and we stay healthy, this team is good. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out!

Do any of these talking heads realize that Miami has never even finish 2nd in the Coastal since joining the ACC?
