It's funny. I watched some segment on espn today - the first time I ever saw it. It was Greenberg & Pearl imitating current coaches and talking about game plans. I thought to myself, "that could be the past and future of VT bball on the screen." I'm all for Pearl!

1. His responses about recruiting/expanding the staff lead me to believe he'll be our next head coach. You can tell he doesn't want to be anywhere else. He's a Hokie, he's looking forward.
And I know Virginia Tech, weve got a great tradition and great reputation. So I think there are some areas that I thought we could benefit from. At least things to talk about to see what direction we want to go or if we can go or whatnot
2. He kind of copped out on the running qb question. Running qbs definitely hurt us last year. Even in the marshall game, granted we won. But I like that he defended them too because all in all, that defense was so good last year and so fun to watch.
3. The part about the highlight video and emotional ceremony that goes down before the bowl game was nice. Another one of those things that show football is more than just a sport.

So far, so good. All 10 Hokies advance to the semis. Got some tough matches ahead. As a team, Tech holds a narrow lead over Pitt.

Tone probably could have been better on that one, no harm meant. I just really felt that the bowl game wasn't very indicative of a whole lot of anything. It just kind of happened and it's over. I understand the bend but don't break strategy but I guess I just never have thought of Bud as someone that would ever back the defense off for containment. I understand that it's a basic concept of defense. Again though no harm meant, my bad.
Gosh I love the ideas you mentioned.
Given the current political/economic environment, flyovers are becoming rare, unfortunately. The old WWII warbirds aren't a government function, which is why they're available even under current conditions. I love the old planes.

It os the Corps Alumni director who coordinates them usually. The long standing one Col Rozack retired 2 years ago, but Col Larkin has been doing a heck of a job even being able to secure the flyovers weve had in the current budget environment.

Would be kind of a waste of the past 4 years he's been working on a pretty tough degree. Would love another RB coach though no matter who it is

I'll take any coach that doesn't solely rely on the 'pick and roll' as their offense.
I don't pay attention to basketball at all, but here's my two cents:
Yeah, I hear this. Johnson may have been put in a position where it was going to be exceedingly difficult to succeed, given his experience. Given that we are in the best basketball conference that's ever existed, it's tough to say anyone but the blue chip coaches should get the opportunity to do the job.
Having said that, I haven't heard anything from anyone (not that I've paid much attention) that suggests that Johnson is anything but a class act. Sure, maybe not ready for this gig in this conference at this time, but not being successful as a first time head coach in the ACC in 2013/14 is hardly a death knell for his coaching career. I'd like to see him given another year, if only because we had a football coach that didn't do too well in his first few years, had support, got it all together, and became a legend.
Maybe JJ isn't that guy, sure. But as far as I know he's represented us well, and if he isn't coach next year, everyone should be happy for us and happy for him that he had the chance, it may not have been the right time, and he deserves the highest recommendation we can give him (since his on-the-court record in this job is already well known). If he doesn't come back, tip your hat to him, raise a glass, and cut him a slice of pie.
This. Balance the ability for schools and kids to develop relationships early but put safeguards in place so that under certain circumstances the kids or the school can opt out later.
: School offers schollie, kid commits in writing
-> No coaching changes happen? Kid is bound by the commitment.
-> Head coach, coordinator they'd play under, or primary recruiter leaves? Kid can decommit.
-> School drops their major? Kid can decommit.
-> Kid fails senior year? School can revoke offer.
-> Kid goes on more official visits? School can revoke offer.
-> Once commit happens, no tampering allowed by other schools.
etc, etc.
Point is, it has to be fair to both the kid and the school. The school and the coaching staff need to be viewed as one big, static unit by the NCAA. If an adult, who isn't bound by the LOI, changes the deal before the kid enrolls, the kid needs to have rights to reopen the commitment. But the whole governing body of college sports needs to be on the same page so that schools that aren't bound by any individual LOI have to respect it, too.
I think the early signing period is a good idea, and I don't really care how early they sign. Kiffin wants to offer an 8th grader? Sure, why not, but you can't revoke it if his grades qualify him by time he's a senior in high school, even if he busts on the field. There are risks on both sides, but in the absence of blatant disregard for the spirit of the LOI, both sides need to respect it and both sides need to have protections.
I'll get downvoted for this, I agree with just about everything you said except for French being God (though he is the absolute greatest on here bar none). Oh yeah, also, hooray for #TEAMCREAMPIE
