That's because Bama gets plenty overall, so missing on a bunch doesn't hurt them. They offer over 100 4-5 stars per year so by definition they miss on 80-90. But they get 15+. The getting is what counts, not the missing.
VT-Tennessee every year please.
I love this idea. Both conferences are known for playing great football right now, and the SEC - ACC rivalry is a great narrative.

- I think Brendan Motley has a great shot to win the job. Should be a great competition, it's really hard for me to see rail thin Andrew Ford starting and I don't think it would be good for his development. For those bringing up an Aaron Murray comparison remember that he redshirted and, even though I think it will be improved, I don't like the VT OL protecting a true frosh under 200lb weighing pocket passer *shudders*. I could see if Leal doesn't win starting job that he would transfer. Motley starting as a RS-Soph is the ideal situation, bring on the magical year of 2016.
Running Back
1. Trey Edmunds
2. Marshawn Williams
- I think this looks good. I'm thinking there should be a good bit of shared carries between, I think Marshawn looks like he could be a special back. Wouldn't be surprised to see JC Coleman get some burn too as well. There's a potential for an abundance of riches at the RB spot which I love.
Fullback

3. Steven Peoples
- I'm hoping Rogers get's bigger and is even more of a monster.
Tight End

Let them all compete and pick the one who will win the most games with the pieces around you. I think that is the piece that people are missing in this debate - - the quality of the wide receivers, offensive line, and running backs will dictate who Loeffler picks as his QB. The QB battle may be less about the quality of the QBs and more about the quality of the RBs, WRs, and offensive line. All of the QBs will be servicable, in my opinion.
If you have the quality players around you to run an effective pro-style offense, pick the pro-style guy (Leal / Ford).
But if, like last year, your WRs struggle to catch and get separation, and you don't trust the inside/outside zone running game, pick the QB who can run the veer stuff to create some offense (Durkin / McMillian / Motley).
In my opinion, like last year, the main variable this year is Loefler's trust in his WRs and running game.
Think Tech has the best shot with Ferrell out of Benedictine and Sweat out of Oscar Smith. Both are highly rated 4 star defensive ends. I think Stroman will do his best to recruit Settle to Tech, but whether he will come here is another question.
On the recruiting trail ... 6 foot 5 DT that got moved cuz VT wants short guys who shoot gaps, but have a hard time sticking in NFL because they can't beat blocks straight up.
Lots of tall NFL DTs, but we don't produce many. Not saying I buy it, but FUD works.
I too have a feeling Durkin will end up being the man.

yeah dude, when i was there (99-01) seemed like more people went to women's games than men's.

McMillian will be moved in an effort to a) get him on the field and b) due to the depth we have established at this position.
* I don't see how an undersized Ford can dethrone Leal after one spring. I also don't see how Durkin can come in the program in August and expect to take the reigns. But what I do like is this: Fords character and book smarts. I like Durkin's edge and his competitive spirit. McMillian is a football junky with tailback moves. Even considering Ford will have been in the program a full half yr before Durkin, I see Durkin being more of Lefty's type of guy. Big arm, gritty, willing to run, throws well on the run, ultra competitive. This is going to be an exciting few years to watch unfold!

you ever have one of those half awake/half asleep dreams where your eyes are open but you cant move because that part of your brain is still asleep and you think someone's standing over the bed and all you can do is hope they dont suck your soul out through your face dementor style but then they just sort of disappear and you realize it was just a dream?
cause those used to freak me out.

You, sir, have my proxy for any future posts in this thread or on this topic. This is exactly what I've been thinking.
ESPN's prospect ratings are not very comprehensive, and they tend to rate low on purpose.
I think that's a better way of putting it. I think he's capable of being on the field for a full drive, but he's not built to be an every down back. I like having him in the backfield with Trey as two options because JC runs screens well. As far as KR goes, I would like to see him and Mangus back there. I know some of our young guys could do well back there as well, but if those two are going to be buried in the depth chart at RB, they will be best utilized in the return game because they are playmakers who need to be on the field.
