I did play-by-play for Blacksburg High School this year, so I saw the 55 yarder first hand. I know this is said by everyone who has ever seen a long field goal, but the kid would have knocked it through from 60 easily. Fun fact, he was also on the Bruins' punt block team and scored on a blocked kick in the same game. I'm a huge fan.

The easiest solution is to swap Clemson/Miami and Pitt/NC State and then drop the cross division games.

I just looked into Justin Timberlake tickets for a family member who is a fan and they were $120 for nosebleeds at a basketball arena. They aren't getting those seats.
My point is that $140 for prime seats for something this special is a very good deal. $80 to say you were a part of it (binoculars and all) is a fair deal.
I honestly believe this will be a matchup of 2 top-20 ranked teams given recruiting and program trajectory and am certain it will be a full house. If ensuring that full house is properly "maroon" doesn't justify some premium spending for the O&M faithful, I don't know what could.
No wonder the tickets are so expensive.
While there will likely be some lower ticket costs, given the appeal of this game, I don't see there being very many. Also, while I understand that they are expensive, you're supporting your school by buying the tickets through them. You're hurting them when they have to front money to pay for tickets that they didn't sell because you bought off a secondary market. As much as we talked about Hokie Club and the value of giving back to the school over the last 3 weeks, it's important to remember that the school needs you to buy tickets from them. Do you really want Tennessee to sell out their tickets and for us to return some?
I believe they said they would remove the buildings for the game. They are already going to be removing the large pole and board in the middle of the infield as well. When the game was announced, they made it seem as though there would be fans in stands on the track. Doesn't seem like it will happen now though.

I believe the field will have to be centered. I live in Bristol and went to my first Nascar race last spring (wasn't great). There are 3 buildings (you can see on the map that was posted) that are inside the race track itself. The football field should be able to fit within the building sites where the haulers are normally parked. What we need to figure out is what the prices are for the rooftop seats on those buildings and how famous you need to be to get a spot there.
I also wonder if they will be putting more stands in on the race track in order to get closer to the field and gain more seating. The racetrack is sloped down towards the center after all.
Santamaria is the real deal. Kid has a gifted leg!
Mangus is odd man out. Caleb will be a 4-star that never produces. I suspect both will transfer, but just my gut. I hope I'm wrong! I know Mangus was crazy about Tech when he signed, and Caleb of course, was the gem of 2012's class. They have to figure a way to use Caleb.
Not to mention I think he batted two passes in that last Miami game at the OB.

There had better be. What needs to happen is for "season ticket holders" and "hokie club members" to make their reservations ASAP (i.e. NOW) so that VT can request extra seats.
I don't mind the rematch either, but it shouldn't be arbitrary or overly subjective. BC won the Atlantic, VT won the Coastal...we just happened to have already met. Forget 6-2 ACC...duke was 10-2 overall. Clemson already lost to FSU (only one less conference loss) and just got destroyed (again) by USC. If you are going to do this, there would need to be conditions as mentioned above.
What do we all think of the Malcom Delaney years, when VT did what they needed to get in, but got left out of the tournament anyways? Duke did what they needed and then some, and it seemed implied (to me) that the Commish wants to consider a rule change that would have put Clemson in. Had one of Duke's losses been to Clemson? Great! But put a solid algorithm (BOOM) or metric together to make it automatic...it can't have anything to do with "hey we like Clemson better in this game..."
And while we are talking better opponents for FSU, not implying VT deserved anything this year, but I don't believe any starters would be taking a break in the last two quarters if the Hokies were their opponent.
These ticket costs are in line with current bowl game or neutral site game prices on tickets that have been offered through the Hokie ticket office. There may be lower cost tickets available through ticket brokers or other ticket sales sites.
At this point, we have a known in JC Coleman, an injured Edmunds & McKenzie, then a bunch of other people that really haven't gotten gotten a shot yet (or weren't utilized much when they did). Translation (also considering QB and OL uncertainty) = too early in the season to put JC on the bench.
My money is on Michael Santamaria, He also kicks 55 plus and is very accurate. We got 2 good kickers tho
I've been wanting to come up with some divisional ideas, and I know that North/South will not work. The old Big East teams don't want to be isolated, and UVA would pitch a fit if they were the only "old ACC" team surrounded by old Big East.
So, what matchups need to stay?
VT: UVA, Miami, GT
FSU/Miami
How does it work in North Carolina? I know UNC is big against State and Duke, but is Duke/NC State a big deal? And what about Wake?
I think the divisions could be realigned, but we can't go with a strict North/South approach. If we did that, the North would be Boston College, Syracuse, Pitt, VT, UVA, Louisville, and one NC school.
Basically, the North would be the old Big East, and everyone would be mad.
I can't find the link at the moment, but there's an info sheet from the HokieClub showing the field position. The field is a little shaded towards the Kulwicki end in the graphic. The Waltrips are about 33% further away from the UT endzone, compared to the distance from Kulwicki to the VT endzone. The 50 is in front of Allison section H and Yarborough A.
P.S. For those who do not know. Waltrip Tower is an add-on to the stadium. It is very tall and not known to be the structural feat of the century. Makes being under the north end zone during enter the sandman feel like a bomb shelter. Just an FYI for those scared of heights or those who prefer not to be worried about structural integrity during a great game.
