Maybe Shane wants to send 11 RBs onto the field, one to snap the ball, and then just keep tossing laterals around until someone breaks a big run...
And while disappointed, I wouldn't blame the kid. OSU is his local school and he has always wanted to be a player there. That said, would you want to live that close to home?
Need to keep down the number of threads on this topic.
Just about everything I read in the various threads, I've already read in one of the other threads. Including this squeeze with no juice.
And by fall we may in fact actually have 15 backs at the rate were going.
Even knowing that Bostad would require a change back to more of a power blocking game than a zone stretch, I would rather have him than Searels.
In my deepest gut, I would rather Stiney get the job coaching O Line and TE, move Shane to Special Teams (for his last shot), and then hire a RB coach. Because Shane has just been bad at RB coach. Not just development, that can take a while, but choosing what back is in when. We have 3rd and 1 and Coleman on the field? Put in Wright or Edmunds, I am not sold on the series approach. We need to pay more attention to down and distance than giving him a full 3 snaps.
WRT #3 he sure hit the recruiting trail hard for someone who was just planing on bailing after a year.
I live with a 07 grad of Maury high who is also a VT alum. I'm wondering how you had classes with both of them? Kam is an 06 grad and Painter is an 08 grad? Unless you had gym together...just curious?
Pure speculation here on my part, but I doubt it matters. Taylor is choosing between VT as the program that recruited him hard and tOSU, a late-comer but his lifelong favorite team. I doubt that Searels has much bearing on that. We're going to hire a good OL coach, and Tayler and the other OL recruits know that, but to me this seems like a more personal choice now that he has an offer from tOSU. I hope we can hold on to him, but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't.
I think Searels would be a great get. Be interested to get French's take.
If we were to land Searels would that be enough for us to hold onto Taylor? Or maybe pull in another last minute OL recruit?
TSL's vBulletin board sucked. So, I view this as a good thing for TSL and TKP.
Guys, let's not put it past Shane to play 15 different running backs per game.
Yeah I'm not really trying to make commentary on Grimes choosing to leave as I am making a point that all these possible replacements were getting paid more than VT pays their OL coach, and that VT may be shelling out more for a better coach. Maybe the Grimes experience proved to them that you get what you pay for.
Welcome Refugees

...but it would have been impossible.
Grimes left to go to LSU with probably 2x the pay. It's a no brainer. Closer to his home, better football program, closer to his Texas recruiting grounds, SEC. The only thing that I can think of that would give him pause would be uprooting his family after a year, but he's a football coach....stability for him is defined differently than for you and I.
And frankly, if someone offered me 2x my salary and a better chance at advancement after a year at my job, my bags would be packed too.
Shai will have a year of recovery from his injury so I'm not 100% sure he redshirts if he tells the coaches he really doesn't want to. But unless he has AP healing qualities I agree he should.
Agreed. This community does a great job of self moderating!
What I appreciate about TKP is when a couple people start down the road of darkness there are a majority of people that steer them back with logic and actual facts.
That would be my alma mater as well
My dad went to Lake Taylor.
See I knew Kam went to Maury but I had no idea painter did as well. This is awesome. As a fellow Norfolk public school alum, I'm pretty psyched
When can we expect an announcement?
^This, exactly.
He was what, 5 minutes removed from making the biggest play of his life? And let's be honest, the 49ers haven't exactly been known for showing great sportsmanship either, so let's not make them out to be some kind of sympathetic figures. Harbaugh is well known for his sideline antics, Boldin jaws with defenders practically every play, and Kaepernick's mocking of Cam Newton's pose during last week's game against the Panthers is one of the many instances that show his "class."
Those two teams don't like each other and we probably would have seen something similar had SF won. Regardless of antics, I'm just psyched that KAM! is going to the Super Bowl. He's completely blown away all of my expectations as a pro because Seattle has used him to perfection - a dude who blows up anyone crazy enough to come over the middle and a playmaker in run support.

Tech is the plain jane good friend with glasses and a ponytail. tOSU is the hot chick. Taylor was planning on going to prom with plain jane, but now hot chick needs a date. Who's he going to pick? The hot chick, of course.
The problem is that the hot chick doesn't really want to go with him, she just needed a date. He's going to spend all of prom sitting in the bleachers, while tech walks in, sans glasses and pony tail looking like Rachel Leigh Cook. But, sorry about your luck me taylor it's too late we found someone who loves us for who we are.
