I really don't think deep down anyone is surprised or upset. A lot of us have played NCAA in some iteration, and 9 times out of 10, when signing day comes (And I never make Tech the favorite, haha surprise) I always end up picking the Hokies.

I always figured advertising was the reason a lot of sites still use the boards where you have to click to view each post in a thread. It takes 1 click and turns it into 20....
I have to say that these rumors are really fun and all, but we need to temper any expectations of announcements. I read on TKP somewhere that public institutions have to have job openings "open" for at least 7 days before the announce a hire (don't remember what thread I was in, could have been this one). If that's the case, we have to wait for LSU's 7 day window to be up, then for them to announce Grimes, then for VT to "open" the position, THEN wait at least 7 days until announcing a new OL coach.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the quickest I see us getting an announcement (assuming that Searles is the guy and basically has the job in all but title) would be next week. Without an AD, we will probably take longer than the minimum 7 days to officially hire a new coach. SO I expect sometime in February to see an announcement TBH.

Completely agree. Raines seems like a stand up guy, and I'm not sure how many players would bust their ass out their like that after being benched for no apparent reason? Tough situation for him, but I applaud the way he's handled it. I'm sure it wasn't exactly how he envisioned his senior year going.

Here is the thing though. Want to light a fire under his ass - don't let him start. Maybe sit him for a half. That gets the point across. Three games? I can not believe Raines had the motivation to try anymore. I would have walked out.
Kudos to Cedarian Raines for acting like an adult, when it seems* like the adults were not.
*I don't know everything that went on, but I do hear JJ's comments (even after this game) and I think he has not handled the situation well.

If Searels if the hire, I will do a heavy duty film review that will likely come out around a week after the hire, because it will take some time to put together film from different stops. Until I see the performance and find what similarities I see across systems, it is hard to say he is the guy. You know what you are getting system-wise with Bostad.
My biggest worry is recruiting. Searels coached at schools where he could land good offensive line talent in state. Virginia has a few good OL prospects over the next few years, but there is zero depth. If Searels is hired, he will have to go out of state to get players, and outside of Memphis, his track record doesn't show him going out of state for players.

Oh god yeah. Their chat boards are horrendous for smartphones and tablets. I'm done over there. I MIGHT go back once or twice, but this move is just stupid.
You don't beg on your hands and knees for people to adopt to a completely new format because their current one was supposedly completely unsupportable going forward, and then within 24 months thank those loyal followers by giving them the finger and abandoning the new and better formatting because too many people were adamantly against switching.

I agree, especially with that being his dream school and being in their backyard....hate to lose him, but can't really blame him, best of luck to him.
