good question...I was under the impression that this was his first year on campus which would mean next year he'll be a R-Fr...but if this is his second year on campus and this was his R-Fr year (meaning he red shirted last year) you would be correct..he would be a R-So next year.

I think FSU definitely cared what the rest of the ACC did prior to the BCS. Since they play in the ACC if the ACC didn't do well the already weak schedule would have weaker and not allowed an undeafted FSU to get in over say a one loss SEC. We might have had a rematch of the Iron Bowl and I cannot express in words the anger I would have felt. As long as we have a system in place where you need to impress a panel of people you always want to look the strongest you can and therefore want to root for those that you play the most, the ACC.

I so agree the thing that ticks me off is when other people's team is not playing in a big game and they say Go SEC, its stupid. You can't be a fair weather fan then tomorrow be the biggest UF fan or Bama fan or any fan. And with all this Playoff talk its becoming more evident that the Pro SEC or Pro ACC or Pro any conference is starting to come back. Support 1 team not a conference. I was at a bar and during the Georgia game there were go SEC chants like really thats soo lame its like if we can't beat em might as well join em
Our running backs never had a chance to fumble since they would get tackled in the backfield before they had a chance to fumble. :)
I am not asking for 300 plus yards like Auburn...but I don't think it is too much to ask for 180 plus per game. I think Shai Mackenzie and Marshawn are a step in the right direction however. I also think Grimes bringing in 5 of his own OL recruits is going to payoff down the road. Add in Pffaf, Wyatt Teller, and Alston Smith and its like he is bringing in 8 new offensive lineman. The only starting lineman graduating is Miller, so we have those 4, the 8 new ones, Augie Conte, and Parker Osterloh. Thats 14 OL's to choose from. I would think he should be able to piece together a solid OL from that group.
I can't help but feel hopeful that we can return to the days of having a good solid rushing attack...and with that I think we can return to our string of 10 win seasons.

I say, screw the ACC. We should only be worried about VT winning games. I always root against SEC teams and OSU and Notre Shame, but outside of that I don't really care one way or the other if ACC teams do well. I hate LOLUVA and I'll never root for them to beat anyone...I don't care how it looks for the ACC...FSU doesn't care what the rest of the ACC does...they went out and won all their games and they're in the NCG as a result. Now I want VT to do that...just win all our games. The only thing I like about the ACC is that we have a relatively easy path to the ACCCG. If we go undefeated we'll be in the discussion for a championship regardless of what the rest of the conference does

Why does everybody seem to think the head coach is so freakishly hands off? All calls go through the head coach. He has final say on every decision, every call, every everything - he's the head coach. Whether or not head coaches exercise that power, that's another story. But Beamer definitely has input on who starts at each position, every position.
And this is nothing personal to you Retired or not even anything directed at Beamer per say. I've just seen several comments, over the year and half I've been on the site, basically saying that head coaches are completely hands off on a lot of aspects of the team and I don't know why people think that.
As for the rb thing, I think our backfield got much better by adding Williams and McKenzie and I think they'll both get a chance to impress and compete. McKenzie may be at a slight disadvantage since he'll be rehabbing his knee.

You are being subjectively judgmental towards people who are discriminating based on objective facts. All while wrapped up in some kind of overwrought sense that it is far nobler to forgive someone who consistently bones his own life and the lives of others with no repentance, than to hold said person at least socially responsible for his continuing misdeeds.
The sum of your argument appears to be "What MV5 did was wrong, but it's wrong-er to say mean things about him when other people may have done worse things." Your refusal to provide examples of others who might be worse, or to engage specific counterarguments, is not exactly strengthening your position.
This isn't a legal proceeding. It's the court of public opinion long after the actual courts have repeatedly found him guilty. It may please you to perch atop an immaculate moral high horse, but it certainly doesn't persuade this court.
He'd end up paying a lot of fines before he got the message. Can you imagine if it was an NFL starting QB he hit like that? $100K fine and three game suspension.
I saw Hawaii do their version at a Nevada game once. It was interesting but quaint.
