***2013: 2*** (Refs robbed us against the Terps!!!) That was a Tariq Touchdown!
Army needs a Kyle Fuller to spy the Navy QB, but that pick on the Squids' opening drive will do.
Completely agree.
Better VT QBs than LT3
-Michael Vick
-Will Furrer
-Bryan Randall
-Jim Druckenmiller
-Tyrod Taylor
-Maurice Deshazo
-Grant Noel....(just kidding...)
McKenzie hasn't committed yet. It is between us and Pitt.
Yes, but it's frustrating that we had to catch up.
I'll ask the Trey Edmunds question in a different way since the collective wisdom from TKP is that he will be staying at RB.
IF....our recruiting had been better and we had less losses (Drew Harris miss, David Wilson leaving early, another primo RB recruit 2 years ago) would Trey Edmunds be our returning starting RB, or a returning, likely starting LB?
That's news to Mugatu.

Evidently Caleb is getting no playing time because he cannot learn the playbook
I think this gives VT an outside chance of beating Saban AND Bama at the same time, one of these days. That would be all kinds of awesome!

Because Kyshoen Jarrett doesn't know how to call a fair catch (*See muffed punt vs. Western Carolina)
He would have still redshirted, but after the Michael Holmes incident, I still think he'd be an RB at this point at least. He was an All-American RB in high school and put up ridiculous numbers, so I think our placing of him was based largely on that and not just roster depth.
Alabama 2008
Just surfing and I ran across this interesting article about 'Bama and their coaching vacancy in 2008:
So, with the Stallings era officially coming to an end, Bockrath and Sorensen set out in search of a new coach. In searching for a new coach, generally speaking, they wanted a hire with no real ties to Alabama, an outsider who would come in with a new sense of direction and operation for the program. It has been very well documented that their first choice was Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer. I'm not sure that Beamer was a feasible candidate -- Beamer attended Virginia Tech and played football there three years, it would have been difficult to get him to leave his alma mater -- but nevertheless he was their initial choice. Aside from Beamer, there were very few other names that were mentioned for the job, which was largely because...
He had a shot to leave, (and for UNC as well,) and was frequently mentioned for other vacancies some time ago.
Any thoughts on how well Beamer would have done as HC at Alabama?
Not too far from the truth, though.
I remember a quote from former Tide Coach Dennis Franchione who said that he had to have a security detail on the rare occasion when he and his family would go out to eat, be in public because of the constant attention/harassment from 'Bama fans. (This was while he was in good standing.)
Once again, VT has a great opportunity against a high profile opponent in a bowl game.
Man, I want to win this, but I can see a lot of reasons why we won't (looking at you, Trey Edmunds....get well soon.)
I'm just a little tired of:

I sure wouldn't want him for a teacher...

I agree- I just don't enjoy the story of my generation, that's all. I have other tastes
Still, we've seen more good things out of him than any of our new linebackers. Mostly cause we haven't really seen much of anything out of the linebackers.
$7-7.5 million a year?! No wonder he's staying. I'm sure there was a bidding war and Bama just happened to win.
I know allot of people hate Bama, but could you imagine the obnoxiousness that would ensue by a good Texas team? I don't want to live in that world!
That's what I said.
I have confidence that, with the quality coaching available to him, he will get the training he needs.
He doesn't lack for the stuff that can't be taught.
Some of his liability plays were ugly. I'd hope it's simply anxious inexperience, especially the huge 15 yard momentum swinging penalties.
Kids got that spark though. He could easily become an ESPN darling.
Probably afraid of what Bama fans would do to him and his family if he leaves. (probably not, just thought it would be funny to say.)
That we are last is a good sign.
Dadi has been a force this season at times, but he needs to show he can be an every down player. The potential is there, and the games reps haven't been available with Gayle and Collins in front of him, but I want to see him dominate rather than assume the transition will happen.

Army holds them to a FG, but that's probably game.
