I know trying to understand the mind of a 17-18 yr old and why he chooses one school over another is an exercise in futility. I mean other than the "this school has this program that the other don't" or "I've always been a fan growing up my dream has been to play there" . Other than those reasons I don't get it. Hey the better team in the state...and I mean much better...is recruiting you to play for one of the top if not the top defensive coordinator in the country who routinely fields top 10 defenses and you choose the team that has no defense and is just poor all around???? I mean how many years does London really have? Maybe UVA didn't want to bye out his contract but do they renew it?? If they do then Hokies will be happy everywhere. But how he convinces guys to come play for him after he has shown NO improvement at all is mind-boggling. I hope Mr. Brown rethinks his every year he's not playing in a bowl game. He may get plenty of playing time and make it to the NFL but his college career is going to be filled with disappointment from a program and team standpoint.
With Ekanem and Marshall will he be needed to be an every down player next year? He is exciting to watch because of his energy, but can't next year just be another bring along season for him and then senior year is when he puts it all together?
Oscar Smith is down 28-0, going into the 4th quarter in the state championship at UVA. I guess Mr. Brown will get a head start at getting used to being blown out in football games in Scott Stadium.

The way I see the situation is this: Loeffler, for the last two years at least, has not been put into a position to succeed and has then gotten a lot of flak for it.
Chizik to Loeffler at Auburn: "Here are a bunch of players recruited to play spread, but I want you to install a pro system. So make that happen."
Beamer to Loeffler at VT: "Here are a bunch of players that have been recruited incoherently for a few years, with no discernible system in mind. So make something happen."
I will withhold any criticism of Loeffler for the next 2 years. I can see that he is starting to give our offense a new identity. Recruiting and player development will tell us a lot about who he is as a coach and who we will be as a team. Basing any opinion on a single season anywhere, to me, is faulty. One data point does not necessarily reflect any sort of trend.
Moving to Murrells Inlet/Pawleys but most people just think it's part of Myrtle Beach and have never heard of it.

Fire him and put Steiny in charge? Or try a new OC search again, set the bar high and go with our second or third choice because the first guy took a dream job in the NFL? Maybe Frank makes it public this time, "win ten or we're looking for a new coach".

Ummmm....hate to tell you, but Myrtle Beach is like Columbus, Ohio-south.
At one point the #1 commercial flight demand was a one-way from Columbus to Myrtle Beach.
However, the good news is that if you go south to Surfside/Garden City to Mount Pleasant, there are plenty of good locals that populate the area. Or, if you can move inland a bit, but what's the point?
(Little known secret: South Carolina developed MB as a magnet to attract tourists and keep them out of the other areas.)
I have family in the Pawley's Island, Litchfield, Surfside SC area (one of which is a fire fighter). It is a wonderful place to live.
Can't help with the Hokie spot thing. The Brick in Charleston, SC was a very popular Hokie spot before the fire last year. The whole place was filled with Hokie memorabilia and is owned by a Hokie. I think they are trying to rebuild, but I haven't heard any updates in a while.
Yeah, Saban at Bama is scary enough, but Saban at Texas in a weaker conference with better recruiting ground? Probably would have wound up being twice the empire he's built at Bama.
Seems like every college from FL to NC has a plate there. Really needs to be a VT plate. Moving from Columbus Ohio to somewhere in the South to get away from these OSU fans can not happen soon enough.

It always felt to me like Edmunds was holding the spot at RB until Harris got to campus but Harris never got there.
I have lived in SC for 10 years... They tried to petition for a VT plate a while back and I am fairly sure they did not get the interest needed to get the ball rolling.
Every single position group was inconsistent. There was nothing for him to put out there and say, "THIS. This right here is our offense. We'll base our offense around THIS." The closest he got was Thomas, but between his own struggles and (more importantly, IMO) the inconsistencies around him, even that wasn't enough. Look at BC. They have a bad offense. BUT, they have a couple quality O-linemen and an absolute stud at RB who will be spending the weekend in New York. Loeffler doesn't have that luxury
The whole point that you were trying to get at in what you posted above is that Loeffler was put in an impossible position as an OC because he had nothing to base his offense around this year. Then you went on to compare us to BC, implying that if Loeffler had something to base his offense around, then the offense wouldn't have performed so poorly. What I'm saying is that Loeffler did have quality pieces in place (even the OLine and stud RB pieces that you yourself brought up as an example) and, even with those pieces in place, he did not succeed in doing that in your scenario. And yes, comparing a team that he coached as recently as last year is a valid comparison.
We all know that a great QB will fix or cover up a lot of issues. But even without a great QB, great coaches can still produce at least a mediocre offense. Especially ones that were brought in to establish the mentality of a power running team.
The license plate thing is done through the state and I think it has to be ...recommended maybe?

Of VTs 4 losses only one was by a margin above 7 points, Bama. Hokies have played to the level of the competition all season... it will be a close game. GO HOKIES!

Part of the reason he's going there because of the shady relationship that UVA has with the thoroughbreds. It's impossible to prove anything these days, but I feel pretty certain that there is something illegal going on there. There is absolutely NO other reason that any top high school player would pick UVA.
And before people start calling me out for not having evidence, please don't be naive; recruiting is an incredibly dirty business and this stuff happens everywhere. I'd like to think that it doesn't happen much at VT because there is actually a legitimate reason for players to come here, but you never know.
