It would be great move for him and if he's offered I think he should take it. On the other hand, does anyone know how many schools have hired head coaches that were never even a coordinator(don't quite think recruiting counts) before?

In my opinion, this is perfect timing. If Frank were to retire today, I think tabbing Shane as his replacement would be the wrong move. They need to see whether or not he's, you know, good at the whole "head coach" thing. I understand many people just assume, but you never know.

Frank is probably going to stay, what, two/three more years? That would give Shane a decent sample size to know whether or not he'd be a worthy candidate, which is one of the most interesting questions currently facing the program.

I wouldn't put it past some former Oklahoma players to float some distracting material about Texas. I'm sure they like Oklahoma's chances over OSU, but sure wouldn't want their win to help Texas make a BCS game.

I don't want Lame Kitten anywhere near the ACC. I wouldn't even want to inflict him on UVA. Maybe Miami...

Obviously Kevin Jones comes to mind with him living in Blacksburg right now but other than that I think it is pretty much wide open on who it could be.

I think BS and Shane would be natural head coaches. I think there's a good chance one of them gets the job, which sucks cause they are our best recruiters but hopefully we have someone ready to fill in. Any idea who would that be?
