Fellow Hokie in Hooville here. I, too, would've never left Blacksburg if there were jobs available for me there.

However, now that I have lived in Charlottesville for nearly 8 years, this city has really grown on me. Lots of good people here, great places to eat and drink, and about 2 hours away from everything.

I still want to move back to Blacksburg later in life and retire there, though.

Agree 100%. And some of the examples he tosses out are bad ones if he's trying to differentiate from Blacksburg. For example, Chapel Hill pretty much just a college town centered on UNC. Ann Arbor and Madison fit this 'other stuff' profile but that basically eliminates them as college towns. (Ann Arbor is closer to being a college town than Madison is though.)

Based on his definition of the best college towns, NYC is the best college town because it has the most other stuff for Columbia students to do...

Holy Sh1t, this is awesome. May many legs fall on this post in defiance of whiny, butt hurt, dodge ball cry-babies. Colin Cowherd for President! LOLUVA

Does anyone else enjoy the fact that the person named "historyhokie" is using a gif of someone saying SIKE, or is that just me?

like Horse, you could turn all your references into something from "back in the day" and keep in character. If that is what you already are doing then I am very impressed.

I respectfully disagree with you here brother. You may interpret said comments anyway you choose and may not like them. But I know this individual is a BIG FAN of femininity. Yep, BIG FAN. And I would just like to say this:

Comedy and joking about our differences brings us together. Drawing dividing lines over what we can and cannot joke about does just that. It divides us. Most importantly, where does it stop? For instance, I saw a Sand Lot post with the kids on the ball field, you play like a girl. Should that be offensive? I say no. I say it is all in good fun. Some would say yes and continue down a path that completely cleanses us from any thought or speech that might be offensive. Hello thought police. Hello News Speak. Hello Big Brother. Political correctness does not free your mind. It shackles it. And I believe that is totally gay. Not homosexual gay, but we are not allowed to play dodgeball in school anymore gay.

interesting...so help a guy like me understand...are his highlights as impressive as they seen, or does everyone who makes it to the college level look that good in HS? Did Sean Glennon have highlights that looked this good, or is this something really special & elite? Obviously none of us can predict how he'll pan out, not asking for a crystal ball, just looking for context on these highlights.

hahahahaha oh man I'm dying right now. Now that was funny!

If he wants to be a head coach then more power to him. He has done some good things at Virginia Tech in recruiting so to lose him would be a loss. The guy has the gift of the gab and is an excellent sells-men of the program.

Considering good backs only stick around for 2 years, he will be fine. I mean, look at Bama the past few years their backs don't stick around long before going to the NFL. You hear about their backs tearing shit up for one season and then they're 2nd round picks.

That was what I was trying to say...I guess I just said it in a way that four people found to be unnecessary and inappropriate :)

Offensive talent that stayed in state to attend school has been down the last three years as a whole. I'm not sure how this translated at ODU but I'd wager that most of there offensive talent was out of state recruitment.

Using something to insult something else insults both of the somethings. When you insult someone by calling them a feminine bitch, you are belittling that person and femininity. I don't mind the first, but I do mind the second. We have sports fans on this blog who are women. What's worse is that when you said "Come on, this is a sports blog, we should be a little less sensitive than that" you did two things:

  1. You said that women are bad
  2. You said that women should stay out of our sports blog.

Again, I will point out that there are in fact women on this sports blog. You may not have called them out explicitly, but you called them out implicitly and told them to go. This is not okay. I've known some very passionate Hokies in my life, both male and female. In fact some of the better discussions I've had about the Hokies have been with my next door neighbors (one guy and on girl) and a girl that I went to highschool with. Those two girls probably have a higher working knowledge of this team than either me or my male next door neighbor. They know every single player by number (and I mean every single player, including the third string right tackle). They know what plays have been working for us and which ones haven't. They know which t-shirts they've been wearing when we win.

I don't want those two to feel like they can't be a part of this discussion. I would feel like I was missing out on some very knowledgeable, very interesting discussions of Virginia Tech football. I would much rather have them to talk about football with than someone who considers sexism to be "vanilla commentary."

The thing of it is as grown ass men (and women) we should be able to talk about these kinds of things better than a 12 year old on XBOX live.

Am I the only one who doesn't want Ed Orgeron anywhere near our football program? The guy is a walking NCAA violation waiting to get caught.

Not only did he voluntarily work (twice) the Lane Kiffin 'anything goes' players-coach environment, he coached at Miami under Dennis Erickson during the period they were later sanctioned for multiple recruiting infractions.

Seven of Eleven from squads 57th or worse Nationally....way to pick the shiny pebble from the mud puddles media. Just shows what happens when you put the vote in the hands of media members that primarily cover one team and are vaguely aware of the other teams by what they see on highlights. Its like when the NBA opened the All Star votes to the public and then wondered why Yao Ming was voted the starting center in seasons he hadn't even played a game because the entire country of China voted for him.

That was on SML a couple years back. I wasn't fishing but I did have a cocktail somewhere. (on the dock. I left my cocktail on the dock)

Ayyye dunno about that. I guess. When I read it I thought he was implying that the guy was a chump. I also didnt listen to the show so maybe he was....of the male persuasion.

At the end of the day, we're all same team. Just though there was a little too much preaching up in here.

@ Bruce: I agree! Also I love your pic. In that pic, I hope you were getting ready to catch a bitch fish, and when you reeled it in, I hope you smacked it around a bit. Then ate it. Yep ate some fish. Some bitch fish.
