It would suck if you didn't catch the ball. "And the game is over everybody. All game balls are now floating endlessly through space."

Better College Town? Blacksburg, Hands down. No town can beat Blacksburg for Best College Town.

Better Town To Live After College? Charlottesville. Jobs, Access, Surrounding Area. (I'm partly biased because I grew up there)

I've spent some time in Charlottesville. I went to football camp there one summer. The City of Charlottesville and the Town of Blacksburg are about the same size, population wise. But Blacksburg actually looks and feels like a college town. Charlottesville is a pit-stop adjacent to I-64. Charlottesville could continue to exist with about the same size population if the university disappeared. Without Virginia Tech, Blacksburg would be a suburb of Christiansburg, the I-81 pitstop.

I don't know what else to say... I took my daughter on a tour of college campuses before her senior year in high school and UVa/Charlottesville failed to impress her even in the slightest little bit. She didn't like the "Grounds," the way the university was laid out, the "town" adjacent to the "Grounds," or any of the people we met there. Granted, she was already in love with George Mason University by the time we got there, but UVa placed dead LAST of all the schools we visited in her rankings.

There are some decent eateries on The Corner, but it's not a Football Town, therefore Advantage: Blitzburg.

Beamer's "good 'ole boy" kinda staff is pretty much still in place, even with the youngins' on the staff.
Stiney and Foster are close friends with Frank, they are loyal and have a GREAT thing going in Blacksburg.
As long as we have more Ws than Ls, they all should (and will) be around (same goes for youngin', Shane)

You're entitled to disagree, but the community is also entitled to self-regulate. Insulting remarks like that are borderline violations of the community guidelines. Such things have no merit and contribute nothing to the dialogue here. We criticize and critique, but immature name-calling is just pointless, and to some, yes, offensive.

College town? Only if you're a hipster dufus.

That's how Barry Sanders used to do it.

Completely agree. He simply wants to be a head coach and by cutting ties with USC (his resignation to make it official) he is simply putting himself out there to say "hey, I wanna be yo coach"

Have you seen Cal this year? Absolutely awful. I loved every minute of the Big Game (63-13, Stanford, it was glorious). Point is, Sark has proven he's capable of winning big-time football. He's been in the hunt just about every year despite being very much outmatched by teams like Stanford and Oregon. Give him the talent at USC, and him beating the Northern big boys might be a more regular occurrence.

I won't say that Franklin isn't/won't be a very good/successful coach. But right now, I'm seeing nothing that says Sark isn't the right guy for the job right now.

Well there ya go. I guess I shouldn't be shocked that a USC football coach straight-up lied on national TV. I mean, the guy did work for Kiffin... *sigh* so much for my belief that people are generally good.

Sadly, all that talent stays at HS level maturation in all if their four/five years in UVA.

Reading too fast, I thought you wrote, "Sadly, all that talent stays at HS level masturbation in all of their four/five years in UVA. " Which may actually be the problem.

Its just that....dude, who cares if the guy insulted someone affiliated with UVa? Calling his comment inappropriate? For god's sake. Did that really offend you? It just seems, weird for a place where I am assuming mostly grown men gather to discuss sports and you're out here handing down judgments about pretty vanilla commentary.

whats the record for interim coaches in one season?

Orgeron will have no problem finding a HC position in FBS.

/starts the slow clap

Yes, but 3 years from now a vocal portion of the fanbase will be clamoring for the unproven backup regardless.

Fun fact: Hokie football and basketball have the same record since mid-September.

The fact that he told you to "get the eff out" rather than to politely "request that you vacate the premises so as not to necessitate the unleashing of the hounds" indicates that he is experiencing severe Zima withdrawal. Find some for him, quickly!
