Until it is confirmed that he has interviewed, I can't pay this any mind. This is #Hateweek, and I suspect that someone from the UVA framework made a phone call in an attempt to create a distraction. Note, when the Penn State job became open, the Washington Post reported that Mike London was a candidate for the position, even though there was no evidence what so ever that he had even been contacted. Miraculously, he was offered an extension with a major raise a few weeks later. To me, that sounds like ole Timecop understands how to work the media with disinformation that benefits his goals. It is a shame that he coaches like a four-year old kid playing Hungry Hungry Hippos after drinking a two liter of Mountain Dew.

Based on Google, I have discovered it is not the first time Bud Foster has been coveted by UConn, it happened back in January 3, 2011, when they lost Esdall to Maryland (how did that work out?!?).

Now, if Bud goes, I will weep and throw ash on my head in mourning. I would imagine he would take Gray with him and make him his DC because of his knowledge of the system and his recruiting acumen, which cannot be understated. Also, Gray has been UConn defensive back coach before, so he probably has some connections up there, which could work for Foster.

As for Shane, I don't think he should be a head coach until he moves down a division (like Malzhan did) and be exposed to the experience. JMU has aspiritation to be a I-A team and that requires a coach who can handle the transition. I doubt Shane would pull that off. He would make press conference entertaining, no doubt, but would the alumni be pleased with his mouth? That's the thing. Also I have heard that Stinespring is very much interested in the JMU job. He has connection, he is an alum, so I think Stiney could make it.

I completely agree that Torrian would be an excellent DC but that means that he would have to take his attention off of DBU to run the defense.

To me our weakness of the offense is the ability of our receivers to create space against talented man coverage. If the Hoos are having to play soft zone because they cannot cover, that appears to be trouble for them. We are a pass first team this year and if you shut down our WRs, you can pack the 10-15 yard area and make life difficult for the crossing dumpoff routes shut down the running game and then mix in some occasional blitzes and unbalanced fronts and our wheels come off. Still our WRs are going to have to create enough of a threat to make the safeties have to play back instead of walking up. Logan will also have to hit these boys on some down the field throws. He's got the arm but even if they're incompletes they should help to keep the safeties honest.

So then it seems to be a question of how fast the Virginia DL can get to our QB. Sounds like we think we're ok as long as they rush base packages? Testimony to how far Grimes has brought these guys, although this one assumption makes my stomach churn. Once they start blitzing and unbalancing we're anticipating trouble that means all the inverted veer, rollout stretch the field stuff that has been the bane of our running game is in play for this game. But thats ok because UVA pins their ears back and can have trouble sealing the edge and it seems we've been more successful with that type of running after a rough start (edge blocking has improved). Running between the tackles seems like it might be tough this game, but we'll do it to keep them honest otherwise its stretch, stretch and more stretch.

I'm probably way off (reading comprehension never a strong suit), but it would appear that we are as well prepared for a team as we can be given our offensive inconsistency.

If the deep passing game opens / credibly threatens and/or we have success stretching the width of the field, we should be in good shape offensively. Not what I expected when the year started, but this could be a good offensive game for us. Look forward to the day when we see a 6'7" 295lb DT and run at him all game, when we run at a 230lb DE every time he enters the game.

Bud had a quote in Beamer's new book saying he would not leave until Beamer hangs it up. I think he sticks around till Beamer retires given he would be (hopefully) the front runner for the VT job.

Yeah I really don't have any idea what he's thinking. Not sure any of us could handle the thoughts that go through this awesomely-angry man's head.

I thought something along those lines to myself too. But playing devil's advocate, maybe Bud holds a grudge against VT for him never getting a shot after putting out the stats his defense has had during his tenure. I really hope he stays on board as a DC until farther down the road when VT HC discussions become more relevant. PLEASE BUD!
