RMFW34 is still the most complete running back we've had. That 2009 season was awesome. Wish we could run the ball again like that.
VT doesn't have the 'win at all costs' mentality at any level of our program that the traditional powers do. That's what it takes. Not being complacent or making excuses but I honestly think that we have a very myopic view of our program.
Alabama fans donate GOBs of money and boosters are constantly pushing players towards the school. These Universities rotate about the football program and don't blink at the expenditures of the coaches, facilities, etc.
In the ACC, the only schools that are in the game, IMHO, are FSU and Clemson. The amount of energy, monies, effort, etc being spent is enormous, and we just don't do that at VT.
One of my partners is a Clemson fan and he works extra hours just to maintain his IPTAY level...he donates TENs of thousands of $ yearly and there are lots more like him.
The point being, I love our Hokie culture, but it would have to change to take that next step and again IMHO we would lose equal/more that what we might gain.

Very true. But still, even with a loaded team, a NC is incredibly difficult to achieve. See Oregon, Stanford, Georgia, Mizzou, etc. A championship requires talent, coaching and no small amount of luck. What I want to see in 2016 is exactly the same as what I want to see now: I want to see a well-organized gameplan, players executing that gameplan with a reasonable level of consistency and I want any loss to be the result of our opposition doing that very same thing (no Duke-esque losses in which we giftwrap a win for the enemy). If I see that in 2016, I believe we'll win a heck of a lot of games and I will look back on the season a happy man.
God I fuckin love this guy. By far the brightest spot on our offensive staff right now. We need to keep this guy at all costs

The point is, there will almost always be a period of adjustment when you change the guard. Jimbo had to take his lumps before Jameis Winston was bestowed upon him this season.

I agree, we should be restocked on offense by 2016
We KNOW there are more than surface issues, which is why 5 freshmen currently start on offense. This team was a dumpster fire last year. You don't go from dumpster fire to well-oiled machine in 8 months. Shoot, even Oregon had growing pains in the beginning of the Kelly years.
VT is and will be the only team I cheer for regardless.
I know I am guilty of this, but my expectations starting the season were low. After the Bama game they were high. They skyrocketed after 6 straight wins. I'm guilty for believing this was the Tech of old. Win ugly, but just win. Today was really the knock out punch to the realization that this team just isn't there yet.

Nice find, only 1 school has a winning record against the top ten. The Hokies are 60th, not to bad..but tied with LOLUVA with 8 wins.

I'm not expecting NC or even ACC championships every year BUT losing 5 games or more in a season maybe in back to back seasons shows more than surface issues. Maybe hire a special teams coach, just to name one small change that could help.

# | Losing to Duke, BC, Maryland and maybe UVA in one season, changes ahead. I think it's a little unfair to crucify Loeffler at this point. He doesn't have much to work with. If our offense is still this bad in 3 years then I'll be all for calling for changes but right now it's not fair to him. He's had very limited time to work with a pretty joe-shmo offense. Out of all of the new coaches across the country I think it can be argued that Loeffler came into the worst situation from a talent and fundamentals standpoint. I think that he's got the offense generally trending in the right direction, but there are going to be hiccups along the way. That has to be expected. This is a rebuilding year and this loss hurts like hell but it's certainly not the end of the world. Loeffler isn't chad morris or gus malzhan but he seems to be more competent than O'cain and Stinespring. He's already recruited better players than we've had in a long time. I think we should give him more time before throwing him under the bus.
The worst part about losing is no longer the fact that we've just lost.
It's fast becoming reading some of the posts that show up here. Like it's cool to jump off the cliff and take the entire team and coaching staff with you.
Stop it. Get some perspective.
He only had 9 rushing TDs, one receiving.

When he can install the system he wants to run with the players he wants to run it, I have a feeling things will look very different. It's idiotic to run a system you want regardless of whether the players you have can actually run it. What we're seeing this year is a coach trying to adjust to the skill set of players recruited and coached by a previous regime.
I see us being focused like a laser against uva. We didn't win our Senior Game, so we damned sure won't let them win theirs!!!
I try not to question any of the play calling or anything like that because its still loefflers first year and all and I am completley on board with him, the only I questioning have is some of the personnel that we have on the field, like why do we have 5'7 Jc Coleman running up the middle on 3rd & 1s? Bring in edmunds or try logan up the middle or Coleman around the end, just don't have our smallest guy go up the middle
