Tomorrow night its going to be DOOMS DAY for Miami, everyone will see that they are no way shape or form of a top 25 team. Idk why but its been awfully quiet in Blacksburg and VT the past few days, I hope its because the players are getting ready to just let it all out like this guy ^^^^^^^^^ did .
I would kill for a single game without any turnovers at this point. Hey, Miami would be convenient timing.
I frankly don't see how anyone wouldn't want to play for Bud Foster.
What if, in Leality Alabama gets skipped and it goes 2 vs 3 for the NC. That would be AWESOME!!!!!!! I think its time to say the SEC isn't the strongest conference anymore. They have talent and yes BAMA helps but come on Ole Miss Vandy Tennessee, Florida, they are all overrated.
I say yes that Ohio State is jumped by both teams, but Baylor at 3, Stanford at 4. Baylor gets the nod because they are undefeated and just whooped top 10 Oklahoma.
I think the rankings are garbage. I think they should look at who you lost to throughout the whole season. Its a little crazy to think Stanford lost to Utah and beat a good Oregon team that really hasn't played anyone so far should be 3. I'm just glad this is the last year of the BCS.
polls should be interesting this week. Does a 1 loss Stanford team at #5 (whos beaten Oregon and UCLA) jump an undefeated Ohio State team at #4 (whos really beaten nobody)?
my vote is yes
less certain, does an undefeated baylor team at #6 also jump #4 Ohio State?
based on body of work I'd also say yes, but realistically I see this one as much less likely to happen
assuming bama, fsu, and ohio state win
#1 BAMA
#2 FSU
#3 Stanford
#4 Baylor
#5 Ohio State
Agreed. I don't care if Logan throws for 500 yards or 50, all I care is that they win the game as a TEAM.
I think we are missing the point. We don't need Logan to throw for 500+ yards with a 70% completion rate. All we need him to do is limit the turnovers. Heck he could go 7-14 for 150 yards and 2 td's and I would be thrilled. If you look at the Stanford game their QB only threw it 7-13 for 103 yards and they won, given they have a beast OL and RB, but still they got the FREAKING W and that's all that matters.
To the Last Beer, To the Last Shot, To the Last TD, To the Last Fuller, WE FIGHT!!!!!!
Good point.
Haha. My apologies. I, in no way, shape or form, meant to insinuate that our fearless (fearsome?) leaders had erred in any way. Please excuse my ambiguity.
I was listening to music (headphones) at work when I saw that. Totally forgot where I was and busted out laughing in a quiet cube farm. Strange looks, but well worth it.
I just walked into my bosses office and told her it was BeatMiami week therefore I will be leaving immediately after I leave "her office" since I have to drive to Miami from Orlando. Her response was" It's only 4 hours away, but anyways Muck Miami. haha little did I know she has a little HOKIE spirit in her! She then said Doesn't it suck to be the U..
So ready for this game!!
Great post. Time to rally behind one of our own.
Hearing Shane yesterday saying he wished the offense was like Boston College was revealing. That's what we all are wishing for too, coach. That, and being like Stanford where they line up and knock the bejesus out of you repeatedly.
Edit: The more I think about it, the more I recall that under Beamer, he has won 7 total conference titles with a boring offense (sans the Vick's era), a strangling and opporunistic defense, and fundamentally sound special team. BRING THOSE BACK! Never again will I complain about our boring offense, even if it drives me insane.
Between this article and Billdozer's trailer on loop I am ready to see us dominate! LET'S GO!
In the Late 90's, teams didn't average high scores as much. Only a few teams were dropping big points like seemingly everyone is these days. And Michael Vick featured himself. His ability to improvise was second to none.
When/if Bud Foster takes over does he remain the D-coordinator? Or does he let someone else run his defense? I think its difficult to be a head coach and a coordinator. Too much to tackle.
Excellent work.
I see what you are saying, but I would still say that the 99 and 00 offense were top of the line - #1 scoring offense in 99, #5 in 00, and top 10 total offense both years (EDIT: looking at wrong page - #9 in 99 and #20 in 2000, but still). Vick was not even featured that heavily IIRC - offense went through Stith and then Suggs. Here is the link to the NCAA stats site.
You may be one of just a few here who have any idea what "Hogan's Heroes" was (I remember it well...Friday night must see TV on CBS @ 9:00)
*parity
Unless you meant "parody," then ok.

And just for reference, here's the original scene from the 1980s Mockumentary;

Where is other younger brother looking to go to school? I'm all for a pedigree of players coming to tech. Hopkins, Fuller are a few that come to mind.
