"These people are losing their minds" Sean McDonough during the '11 Miami game when Enter Sandman started playing in the 4th quarter.

"Does it get any better than Thursday Night in Blacksburg?"

after this year...the answer is NO

This isn't the voting for slogans, this is the slogan submission. You enter the ones you want to be on the shirt.

This x10000!! It is so refreshing to see some HOKIE fans with a positive outlook. What is beamer suppose to do say Yeah you know what the last 3 years we thought Logan was our guy and this year we figured out he wasn't. Sure thats the quickest way to get fired, and totally ruin a guys confidence. Some of you might say Logan has no confidence. How about you put on some pads and run the ball 20+ times and take some of the hits he takes. Not to mention when he gets pilled up for the 3 yard he is taking 4-5 hits at a time.

In Regards to Leal I wouldn't expect anything more, if he thought he was the better QB then we would see it talked about more and he would have made some statements the past few weeks. Instead he is getting behind his QB, his brother, his freaking TEAMMATE and telling him look this is your job I'm here to support you. Go out there and show them what we see in practice every day, A Future NFL QB with freakish talent and size.

The biggest problem was O'cain that's why we are seeing all of these problems. Not getting through his progressions, chopping his feet, his mechanics. O'cain did nothing for him an Logan even called him out on it. We all have to remember the last 3 years he really had no QB coach and just worked with what he knew. Now he is learning all these things and its taking some time to polish.

Amen. And forget how wide open our receivers were off play action, did you see BCs receivers on play action? Rettig didn't have to make any difficult throws (that I can remember at least) because of the amount of respect our D had to give to the run.

Also, thank you for making the point about the D. To this point they have been phenomenal, but the DL especially had a horrible game. I hope they take it as motivation and come out strong against Miami.

And for the record, while I appreciate good grammar I can read through your posts just fine.

INCONCEIVABLE!

No, no. JK. Definitely not inconceivable to imagine a better performing QB than Logan. However, you cannot just "find out" mid-season. No coach in all of NCAA football would pull their starting 5th year QB to just "find out" if another QB can perform better. I don't think you honestly believe that is a practical decision. Even switching a starting 5th year QB before the season can lead to a doomed coaching career. Just look at Tom o'Brien's decision on Russell Wilson. Where did that lead him? Sitting bitch to the TimeCop.

What you are saying just is not good football dude

Ky Jarrett was saying yesterday he was disappointed Duke was out for the season because he was looking forward to tackling him, but he quickly added that he wishes for a speedy recovery.

That said, it doesn't matter who is in the backfield for Miami, they have the offensive line to do what Boston College did, control the LOS. I just hope that the Hokies make a team effort to win against the Hurricanes and stop the slide.

Let's go Hokies!

Just read Bitter's article. To add to this:

Sometimes its us not making the catch and then the ball gets intercepted, receiver Josh Stanford said. Sometimes its us not making a play on the ball or batting it down. Sometimes its us running the wrong routes. Sometimes were not running the routes, either we mess up or dont get open, which forces the quarterback to make other reads that he shouldnt have made had we run the appropriate routes.
So I think a great deal of the interceptions fall on us as receivers.

But the stat goes only to the QB

never want to see anyone get injured. As fortunate as it is to play someone without their star player, I really just want to beat everyone no matter who they have.

I Live in Florida and will be coming for the game, weather should not be an issue its been in the low 60-70's at night and being in Miami there could be a little more wind. Bring a light jacket just in case and GO HOKIES!!!!!!!

thanks Guitarman. Yeah, gotta say I don't see a bus anywhere in those comments. In fact if I was Leal, comments like that from Beamer is exactly what I want to hear. Why? because next year is my year, my ONLY year, and there is a young hotshot QB named Andrew Ford, recruited by our current OC, that fans will be calling for. Or for Bucky... If I am Leal I want to see Beamer sticking up for his embattled QB more than ever. Exactly like this.

I get what you're saying about INTs on QB stat sheets. Yes, no matter what they are at fault. Agreeing to that though makes me also point out that having played WR myself I have to say that it is perhaps the most insulated positions in regards to scrutiny. You can get away with missing assignments and not having great technique for route running if you can actually catch a ball, block and get open. I mean you really have to pull a Marcus Davis to be noticed for bad play at WR.

So knowing this I will add that QBs getting INT's on their record is a HUGE statistical error. A fallacy. These numbers cannot represent a bad QB by themselves. WR's cause more INT's than you can imagine. Missed timing, bad routes, tipped balls, not looking back at the QB during the play (yeah I'm talking about you Knowles) all can cause an easy INT or pick 6. QB's get the stat while the WR gets no negative mark on their record. It's bullshit and everyone knows it. (I am sure you do to)

The point is Logan having more INT's than TD's is not a telling statistic this season. Too many have been the mistake of others. NFL Scouts can see that. Commentators can see it. It certainly could all be the QBs fault but that can only be if the rest of the offense is performing as they should, which they are not. That doesn't give Logan a pass for stupid decisions like last week's pick 6 but most INT's this season should be collective ownership.

This sucks, it's fun watching Duke play, was hoping to see our defense get a chance to redeem themselves after the BC game. Still doesn't solve our offensive issues, which I think can only be remedied by the Miami defense missing the bus to the stadium.

I really don't see how Leal can possibly be worse than the QB we have seen versus Duke and BC.

Perhaps the coaches do?

If Leal was not going to play next year I'd say keep Logan and let him finish out his senior season, but right now I just think Leal needs to play right now if he has a future here.

A) This is FAR from a guarantee.

B) Why would a 6-3 team give up and start planning for the future?! I don't understand this logic; we're losing 8 or 9 players on defense, do you think that with Leal's extra 4 games of experience will change us into a national title contender next year? What does it say to recruits when we give up on a 6-3 season? Don't forget, we were 6-3 in 2008 (BCS Bowl win) and 2009 (Peach bowl win). At this point last year we had a losing record with 2 less wins. We're slowly improving, and you want to bench our biggest offense weapon?

now THAT is a much more interesting thread topic than bashing the dude that is accounting for 75% of our offense.

We don't even need to mention Bud. His results speak for themselves. Ridiculous that he regularly produces that level of defense with mid 30's recruiting classes.

The problem with Lefty and Grimes is that we don't have enough information to really judge them. Based on the comments former QBs have about Lefty, we should feel pretty confident that he can coach up the QBs. Ditto with Grimes. We just need to be patient and give these guys some time.

Clearly the best offensive talent on the field for VT is Logan Thomas. The coaches and Logan are doing everything they can to get every ounce of productivity they can with that "hand". At the same time, they are restocking the cupboard and getting us back to the point where we have multiple threats to keep defenses more honest.

I also think that the early success this season eliminated the new coaches grace period. After beating Pitt, the whole fanbase had us back in the ACCCG and looking at what it would take to get us into the MNC game. Give them a break - football is entertainment for us fans. If you're not having fun being a fan, maybe you need to do something different.

btw, these comments are not directed at anyone in particular - just a generic trip to the soapbox ....

"Maybe Beamer has one more run in him, but this just doesn't feel like the same program."

It sure doesn't. Sloppy play on special teams and a meth lab explosion of an offense. At least in '06 and '07 when VT had the best D in all the land, the offense just had to do enough to NOT lose the game. In 2013 the offense and special teams are losing games.

Neither Marcus nor Glennon were the leader on the team though.

Randall was loved by his teammates. Marcus not so much. Glennon was Glennon. He never got settled with the team or the position. And neither Glennon, nor Marcus were 5th year seniors who switched positions for the team.

Well then, a W this weekend will take us out of this top 10 then hopefully. Go Hokies!

See you in Miami

Looking at the record? yeah, I definitely am. Marcus 0-3 for completing a season with out being suspended partly or fully during or for next season. 0 -1 for graduating or moving to next level. 1-0 for being dismissed. 0-1 in life, but yes 1-0 for being a fucking loser. The only thing he has excelled in his life is being convicted.

Marcus threw 19 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in his "career" if you can even call it that. Logan is 48 TDs to 38 Ints, not that is stellar work but at least he finishes a season, never been arrested and doesn't embarrass the entire university on national television. And neither did Glennon, Noel, Clark or any others.
