The Miami offensive line has generally won the battle against its opponents this season. Regardless of the RB, that issue, in my view remains key. Losing Duke Johnson is not good for Miami, but it is by no means debilitating for the U either.

I can accept that those around LT are breaking down periodically. But I would also like to look at habits. How many times this season has LT thrown the ball away when there is no play? Not enough. I believe that if he stops trying to make plays where plays do not exist, the flashlight is going to move onto the receivers. Throw the ball away, then tell the receivers to look up next time. That is how a QB gets his team to improve.

Doesn't the team fly to those games? If so, I imagine its only 2ish hours flight, no big deal. The real effect will be climate change from Blacksbrrrrrrgg to tropical Coral Gables. I remember flying down with the band in '08 for the acc championship in tampa and again for the orange bowl a few weeks later. Left Bburg with wind chill in the teens and stepped off the plane in florida fully bundled up to upper 80's temp. It was quite the experience and can mess with your sinuses.

So when I initially opened this thread I thought it would be along the lines of discussing coaching, I now see it is not, and that is fine, still going to post this. For what it is worth, and changing gears, I want to point out something about CFB. Everyone has heard of coaching trees. I thought it would be interesting to look up CFB's coaching tree.

There is a website, coachingroots.com, that provides some interesting insight, at least to me, as to coaching trees. Now right off the bat I want to be candid, there are holes in this site, as they did not have Rickey Bustle even mentioned with Beamer. With that said, I want to preface the below numbers with how they explain the tree.

As the site explains: A coaching tree is a graphical depiction of the former assistant coaches of a certain head coach that then went on and became head coaches. The tree also shows the next generations of head coaches at each layer.

CFB, now in his 33rd year of coaching has 4 direct (Friedgen/O'Cain at Murray State, and Bustle/Zook VT) and 13 next generation.

Lets see how that stacks up against the peers we hold him equal too, and some others (first number direct, second next generation):
Bobby Bowden (44 years) - 10/55
Bob Stoops (15 years) - 7/15
Bill Snyder (22 years) - 8/23
Nick Saban (18 years) - 10/24
Mack Brown (30 years) - 11/30
Steve Spurrier (24 years) - 6/34
George Welsh (28 years) - 7/18
Haden Fry (37 years) - 13/81

So, what does all this say, beats me????

Maybe that CFB has one heck of a loyal staff, which he does (we know Bud could be a HC somewhere). Does it say that others outside the Blacksburg area code have not bought in to his style and methods, maybe.

But ultimately I hope it has everyone stop for a quick minute and realize that the 18-22 year olds out there are playing their butts off, they give it all they have. They have to be coached up though. Bud has proven year over year he can do that, has anyone else on past or present staff?

And everyone quit the junior varsity bantering, we are all entitled to our opinion, thats what makes sites like this great! GO HOKIES, beat miami

Andy posted about it yesterday:

I think it depends on how you read it. LT is clearly agitated and tired of answering the same question, but I don't interpret that as throwing Leal under the bus. He didn't say anything negative about him. He's just saying, "I'm the starter, the coaches say I'm the starter and I'm not getting pulled, so let's talk about something else."

No Marcus is definitely the worst. Talent don't mean shit if you can't even finish a season without getting suspended. I'll take any other QB over Marcus because he is not reliable and a phucking moron in making life decisions.

No I didn't see the interviews. What did they say? (I am traveling and on my phone so difficult to search around the internet rapidly) I also don't jive with any under bus throwing

I think people read what they want to read into comments. You want to be done with him, to bench him, and to try out Leal, so you look for comments that damage Logan.

Listen people - benching Logan and trotting out Leal is going to go about as well as when the Redskins trotted out John Beck. You think the offense is a disaster now, wait and see what happens when you remove the ONLY thing that works some of the time.

So is "Don't deny..." a legit slogan?

"Keep calm and Sam Rogers" ?

"[Mumble mumble]...will really get after 'ya"

"Tough as all get-out"

"Giving orange a bad name since anyone can remember."

"All. Maroon. Everything."

"Go Hokies. Go Hokies. Go Hokies." ~ Bruce Smith

And the next game's going to be a real food fight with double secret probation plays. When I saw that movie I was a Hokie student. That was the wildest flick the bunch of us who went had ever seen. I think we headed to Greeks Cellar or Mr. Fooz afterward. This weekend go to Miami and kick some Dean Wormer azz.

Hi French, even when our O line is blocking to assignments, they did not seem to be generating much of a positive push. Just a feeling, or did you see that too when you broke the film down?

I love how you got that up within 3 minutes of his reply. Well done good sir.

Also have to give props to french because as much love as he gets, he deserves every last bit of it. I honestly cant believe the shit I find my self yelling at the TV nowadays versus what I would have said before my weekly study sessions.

Today:
"Cmon, Brent! Trey can't make a play if you don't get the block on the second level! FUCK, MAN!"

Before French:
"Trey Edmunds SUCKS. Put in Caleb....GOSH." (Napoleon Dynamite voice)

Fully realizing that I still mostly miss important factors all over the field while watching the game, I still feel like I am WAY more competent than ever. Thanks, French.

Also, Beamer did do that with. Randall and MV5 for da []_[] back in '03 AND for Glennon a la T-Mobile in '07 and '08. Just sayin...
