I have been in a slight slump since Saturday (doesn't help I live in the Raleigh-Durham area) but reading this finally got me out of that funk an ready for the game this week. I'm ready to see the Hokies come out, whoop ass, an get back on track!
Also another classic article that had me in tears at work
With Marshawn Lynch, DJ Reid, and hopefully Shai McKenzie coming in next season, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Edmonds move over to the defensive side of the ball. He's big, strong & fast, no doubt. But he just doesn't look like a natural running back to me. Specifically, he seems, to my uneducated eye at least, to have "tunnel vision", which is to say that his field vision isn't very good. On more occasions than I can count this season, I found myself saying something like ... "Man, if he'd just cut to the right instead of staying left, he had a huge hole there!"
Congrats to him.
Although that seems like a lame prize for being made to watch EVERY baseball game this season. I love baseball and my Phillies, but I literally am fine watching like 20 games total over a season.
My wife is being thrown a baby "sprinkle" for our 2nd kid...whatever a "sprinkle" is. That means I will be teaching the 2 year old "Lets Go Hokies!" at 9am AZ time.
Magnus and/or Caleb. Caleb is my top pick if its just one. They don't get in the field too much but Magnus has proven that he can break big plays and everyone raves about Caleb but they don't do anything with him.
Agree he's my top pick to return punts. The coaches always say how much of a playmaker he is and he needs to be on the field. Ok then let him return puts and lets see what he can do. Having him on the field for a play and them not giving him the ball does nothing to how his playmaking ability.
I think the recruiting tool argument is being a bit overstated here. We aren't going to invite a recruit to an away game. And It's not like we don't already have huge exposure there. I don't see a recruit going to what frankly sounds like a mediocre match up and that having much of a sway in their decision. There will probably be some local media hype, but a great recruiting tool? The only benefit I see is that the coaches are already in town to do some recruiting on Sunday.

i remember reading somewhere that odu plans to significantly expand their stadium by the time they host us the first time. i need to go find the article though.
EDIT: they are going to have a 30k seat stadium by the time we play at their place according to this article. I guess that's not really a significant upgrade after all.

+1 for Civilization reference.
Traveling Hokie fans would buy all those seats.
As someone originally from Norfolk, this is something I can get excited about. I wish they would do the same for basketball as well.
Let's go Hokies!

I was amongst your down-voters. To me, it's tough to claim lifelong fandom and then put them down that way. Throwing out the c-word isn't frustration to me, it's just hateful. If you've been with the program that long you should appreciate the high standards even more and understand the stumbles. My first game was in one of the probation years as a 4 year old watching us get stomped because my dad was at a conference and they gave him tickets in the presidents box for free due to no interest. I started school in 2000 and had classmates that didn't know anything of the pre-'95 successful Hokies. Am I disappointed in this team for last week? Absolutely, but I am eternally grateful that we have reason to sit at 6-2 and be disappointed. 6 wins is a season goal for some teams, it was a dream for us for much of your fandom and is still a dream for certain other teams on the other side of the state. I will never let my disappointment turn to bitterness and will never call these kids by the dreaded name. I will give you back a leg for having the fortitude to come back and explain yourself though.
Jarrett looks like an investment in our special teams future, with some maturity I think he could do it. I remember early on when Eddie Royal couldn't return shit for the first yr then he got nasty after that. Knowles on the other hand to me is just straight line speed and no athleticism. In a hundred meter dash I would bet on him all day, but with the jukes and change in direction necessary to return kicks, I believe he's the wrong guy.
Not until next year. They are a transitional team this year and still considered FCS when it comes to number of wins needed for bowl eligibility for FBS teams that beat them.
they are already fbs

Our Alumni Association is going to the Cedar Cliff Game tomorrow night to watch Andrew Ford play. (As long as the monsoon does't cause issues) I'll be there and will report back.
Hands down my favorite comedian. Went to see him with my dad a couple years ago, absolutely hilarious.
