haha...u know me man, and u know i'm all about that flash appeal. lol

I'm actually more curious about Motley. I think we need either an incredibly speedy/Athletic QB or an incredibly accurate QB in order to offset our offensive weaknesses.

I wouldn't assume that because Leal isn't throwing is because he isn't respected by the staff. Leal in garbage time is naturally positioned to appear better due to him facing lesser competition. Everyone knows QB controversy is a coaches worst nightmare. Also less necessary to throw is such scenarios with the game well in hand.

he's on scholarship. When he won the starting job he earned his scholly.

I posted this on the Duke game thread, but no responses. Very early in the game, Logan ran it up the sideline and was tackled....his head hit the field HARD (IIRC on the side of his helmet), so much so that I yelled "oh crap" and thought he'd have to come out for a while or worse. The slow motion replay looked even worse. He seemed rattled and took a minute to get up. One of his teammates bent over toward him like he was concerned, them offered a hand up. I think he was playing well before that, and off afterwards. Did you see that?

To be honest, I was kind of expecting the dreaded #5 spot for the Hokies this week. Glad we just got an (dis)honorable mention.

For some reason, Leal has never earned the respect of his coaches, even during the Alabama game when he went in he just handed the ball off. He was only given permission to throw it 4 times this season against Western Carolina.

I think if Andrew Ford somehow is an early enroll for next spring, and blows the doors off (or is above mediocre) he might be next years QB as a True Freshman. This year, Frank has started more true Freshmen than I can remember for the past 20 years.

Yeah there's a number of things that are permitted on here but "Chokies" (which is actually an age old label), f-king with the Fullers & denying-p*ssy-SAM ROGERS TDs are not.

I'm getting the feeling that a lot of people are missing the point of this post, so here's my shot in the semi-dark. I don't think Leal will see much/any time unless Thomas is hurt, cause I don't see us being on the right side (cause of the offense) or wrong side (cause of the defense) of a blowout. He's gonna have to earn his spot next year in the spring. If he doesn't have that starting QB spot on lockdown heading into the summer, I think there's a good chance he finishes his career as the #2 guy.

That's not true at all. Higher LT3 gets drafted, the better case they can make to future recruits.

And also maybe they care about Logan Thomas as a human being and maybe they want to see good things happen to him after he leaves Tech. Crazy, I know.

Exactly, I was never pro-orange (well, still wouldn't lump myself in that category) but I do think it looked good with the white lids. It just didn't really look like us.

Correct. It was Arkansas State vs Auburn this year that drew 15 yard penalties at the start of the game and after halftime because ASU wore gray which didn't contrast enough with Auburn's blues. USC and UCLA have brought back their color vs color lately with no problems, UT vs NCSt last year was color vs color, and if that orange and that red worked fine, there would be no problem with Miami in orange and us in maroon. It's probably a contractual thing at the discretion of the "home" team, however, which is why it showed up in our contract for Bristol. I would imagine that for a typical game, you would at least have to ask permission (if nothing more than a gentleman's agreement) to wear color as an away team.

I get why you'd wanna save that scholarship for a linebacker or good QB, but I'd go out and find the best kicker I could find and offer him everything I could legally offer if I needed a kicker. I know that impact players can really influence a game, but kickers are involved in points either going on or staying off the board literally every single time they step on the field. Each time a kicker steps on the field, you either score points, or give the other team momentum. That's pretty huge when you think about it. I wouldn't want anything other than the best out there.

I was fine with the amount of effort we put in when I was in the MVs :P

Lol. Dude, no! No way. Orange uni's for VT suck. I'm sorry. You're my boy, but no.
+1 anyway for having the stones to say you liked em

He said we would be in his top 5. Tim Settle that is.

During the summer I did see him out there almost every day kicking by himself. I don't know if he still does it, but my guess is he kicks for more than 30 minutes a day as a FBS starting kicker.
