I got to watch 3 seasons of Bruce from the front 20 rows at about the 30 yard line, he was a man among boys. He never seemed to take a game off, always had to be accounted for on pass plays, often with double teams. Not sure how much of a run stuffer he was, but he sure was big and fast. My wife took a CPR/First Aid class with him during Bruce's senior year and she had to try and do the Heimlich Maneuver on him. She's not petite, but she couldn't get her arms around Bruce anywhere above the waist to attempt the maneuver. Glad we are giving Alston a shot where he can help out on the O-line.

Bruce was truly the first elite VT football player. During the draft, the big debate was who was better, Bruce or William "The Fridge" Perry. Bruce got drafted #1, and the rest is history. Perry got his Superbowl ring with the Bears, but Bruce has his bust in Canton.

Big UPS to Amott who was a perfect 6-0 this week.

VPIhokieME was his opposite at 0-6 though I wholeheartedly approve of how you let me know of your pic by your photo choices.

For the year:
A 3 headed monster leading the charge (amott, dwalt88, InEnemyTerritory) at 63% with VTJawo 62% and Rocco 61% right behind.

Santamaria already accepted a greyshirt offer. I think that means (but not completely sure) he isn't eligible to play until 2015. We also have a Richmond transfer coming in next year.

We need to stop making players play positions that aren't their natural position just because we can't recruit on offense. Maybe we could afford to do that with players like Donaldvon Manning, who left the program when he realized that he couldn't crack the depth chart. But Edmunds would've been a defensive starter.

Kickoffs are from the same size kicking tee. For PATs/FGs High School kickers are allowed up to a 2" block to kick off of but many kickers make the transition to the ground before their senior year to prepare for college.

the only adjustment I'd like to see (and I believe it's something Joe has considered changing during the off season) is the ability to switch your votes. I think a lot of people on here use smart phones to view comments and "fat finger" down votes by accident. If we could have a way to reverse our own votes that would be all peachy.

In the grand scheme of things turkey legs really don't mean a whole lot. It's silly that people get all up in arms about them. I don't want to downplay the legs (it sure is nice to have them and I like hitting benchmarks like 1000 and stuff) but nobody is losing any money over them so I don't see why people get worked up about it.

Overall, I think this community is reasonable and sensible enough to the point that we'll be all evened out. I don't think we need to worry about "trolls". The more we react to "trolls" the more they'll keep "trolling" us anyway. If you act like you don't care about your turkey legs you'll get far in life.

I think the complaining about downvoting is really overblown. People seem to get so sensitive ("I got downvoted for that?!?!"). Usually, if you get downvoted for something that didn't deserve it, more rational people will upvote you to balance it out. And suppose you lose the anonymity for it - Say I downvote something I think is racist (or whatever). This guy looks, see who downvoted him, and proceeds to downvote me on every post he sees... Or what about just hurt feelings? People take it too personally already - why risk schisms in the community? Why open up that can of worms? I don't think making downvotes public solves enough problems to make it worth the new problems it introduces.

Just a quick comment - had we beaten Duke, we wouldn't be having the usual bitch-session we have after every loss.

The usual procedure is -

1. bitch about the loss ad nauseum to make sure that dead horse has been turned to glue,
2. blame specific players and the desire to bench the offenders,
3. blame one or more assistant coaches especially those who just got here,
4. blame CFB (Let's fire the old fart!) for screwing up despite the fact that he built the freakin' football program from the train-wreck left behind by Dooley, and he has more wins than any other active FBS coach, and -
5. blame the Tech Admins for not firing CFB for failing to win the NC Game in 1999.

I think that just about covers it, don't you? Cheerio, carry on!

Hanceville, near Cullman which is off of 65 in between Birmingham and Huntsville.

I don't think Beamer is ready to step down for a while, i.e. Joe Pa route. And as to the big win, beating WCU 45-3 is a big number (yes, the offense wasn't like clockwork, but a good sign for the second game of a new offense) and I'd say having your first 3 ACC games without a turnover is a good sign. Let's not get all doomsday and label him Kiffen yet. He does have hand picked recruits on the way (our recruiters seem to be picking it up) after a few paltry years left him with little to no receiver help and an O-line in shambles.

In that case, I don't even need to see him play. Get this kid a scholarship and a helmet.

I agree one hundred percent of the way. It's one thing if they are free internet points. It's another if it affects your ability to interact with the community.

Also knowing that Joe goes through these babies by hand makes me appreciate him even more. It also makes me feel special. I got hand picked to be a part of this community.

Another thing that I would like to say is that I was interested in replying to your post because I want to see how squished over a comment can get.
