I remember it being fourth and 1 and thinking "Here comes the punting unit" but no, no that's not what happened.
Then fourth and 3.
Then fourth and 8.
All I could think was "Frank, you ballsy motherfucker"
I think Leal would get some playing time, ....if we could blow teams out by like the third quarter..
But you have to score points for that to happen....
Ssssooooo..... no. Lol
Whoever does the uniforms/helmets is still doing a much better job than last year. But yeah no more Orange on Orange.
The uniforms in this photo should be worn for the rest of time. Except maybe with the classic maroon helmet with orange outlined white VT symbol.
What about Kyle Fuller? Seems like he should be drafter. And JR Collins?
Any chance a team picks him up to develop him as a TE as he was originally slated to be? Is it too late at this point? How long would it take to get him up to speed? I mean, look at Kalvin Cline, that dude picked up the position in one season. Granted he is playing college and not NFL, but still......
Only thing is that Macho's quote was about losing to #2 BC in 2007. I'm not saying that this team isn't capable of coming back, just that the loss against BC vs the loss against Duke is apples and oranges.
I don't know if it was for charity or not, but I saw them play in costumes last year too. Snow White was playing left field.
Ugh. Watching those plays is painful. Logan could have taken off for 5-10 yards to the right side on the 3rd and 11 play. At that point we would have a much more manageable 4th down, for either a FG or going for it. On the 4th down play, it looks to me like he locked onto his 1st read (his head doesn't seem to move or look elsewhere) and he tries to force the ball quickly and catch the DBs off guard despite the coverage/positioning of the defenders being excellent for that route. Byrn has 1 on 1 man coverage on a drag route and with only the CB to stop him from getting yards after the catch for a 1st down. Also as you pointed out, if he has even more patience, Kline was going to be wide open as the DB vacated that area to run with Byrn, the S had moved over to help with Knowles, and the LB responsible for Kline was still staring into the backfield as Kline runs by him. There was no pressure either, so no reason to force that throw into double coverage. Missed opportunities for the Hokie offense was the story of the game.
Well he's only been doing progressions for 8 games now....
I can only assume that the coaches could give a rat's ass about his draft prospects. They have priorities, and the number one priority is win this game.
LT3 played extremely sparingly, but Stinespring never relegated him to simply handing the ball off.
I still remember that 3rd and long against Miami where Tyrod got injured and LT3 came in. Stiney called in a deep pass and Logan completed it deep, but Tyrod came in after.
I wonder if that's where Logan's confidence against Miami started?
I get sick and tired of hearing how we have a top 2 defense and a bottom 2 offense. You cant really argue with that!! .......jus' sayin'!!!!!
Texas A&M says there is nothing wrong with having a top 2 offense and bottom 2 defense.
We're you watching a game or getting ready to jump out of a cargo plane?
I'm not disagreeing with you when you say he is much smaller than listed, but what I'll tell you from bumping into him on the sideline at the end of the game this weekend (had to be on the field to perform for band parents), I can tell you he is a mammoth of a man. It's honestly scary to think that the average NFL d lineman is significantly bigger, if I were an NFL QB, I'd throw the ball away every play.
That's fair. If VT fans will use the term "Clemsoning," then opposing fans should be able to use the term Chokies. Clemsoning, Chokies, what's the difference? I guess Clemsoning has taken off into the national spotlight, but in all reality I don't know why Clemonsoning isn't called Chokieing considering the two schools extremely similar losses to teams they shouldn't lose to. Can say the same thing about FSU and Miami and pretty much every other major football University (sans current Alabama).
Florida State had Jameis Winston last year. It probably makes more sense to honor EJ Manuel's legacy, but do you think FSU is a better team with Jameis playing last year; I think so. Do you think FSU plays Winston last year if they had any idea he could was this good? Possibly.
I think sometimes you just have to find out what you have on your roster in the interest of winning. Its easy for us to assume coaches are completely informed and ALWAYS make the right choice (hence why Thomas is starting and someone else isn't), but then there are hidden gems discovered every season. I think Logan should start just off principle but it be kinda cool to discover we have Kenny Guiton somewhere on our depth chart.
Speaking of Sam did he get any carries on Saturday? Would have thought he would have been able to gain some ground on duke.

# | Bitter blog - ESPN's Todd McShay weighs in on Thomas, Exum, Gayle's draft stock Logan Thomas reminds me of Jason Campbell. Great arm. Always seems calm. Can't make progression reads.
thanks for all your work French. Who makes the decision on rb in that goal line situation? would shane say, alright JC, go on in there for the goal line behind our big DL. Or do you think that play was specifically put together with that personell? ie. Loeffler made the call.
Thanks!
It's a shame I haven't seen this kid play yet since I drive through Galax nearly every day. I've heard he's pretty special though.
If were going to do that make sure we can undownvote my fat fingers have caused issues in the past :( I always apologize and try to get people to upvote to cancel
This was supposed to be a response to guitarman at the top sorry my phones being weird
I disagree with this statement. It's all sort of relative. I mean, I guess you could say the kicker is a super important position in the NFL too, but you don't see teams taking them with first rounders very often, and when they do they get lampooned. You can get by with a good walk-on and save the scholly spot for a potential impact player (or even a senior kicker who has proven to be consistent in high pressure scenarios). That's how I look at it, anyway. I think I'd rather have another lb in the class or something and tell any kickers "hey - there's room to kick immediately if you're good enough" than spend a schollie on a kicker you hope will turn out.
He isn't playing this year unless Logan is hurt or the Hokies are on the right or wrong side of a blowout score.
The entire offense is predicated on Logan Thomas, for better or for worse, this season. He is the guy, and the minute he isn't, then all these guys, not just the QBs, are starting back at square 1.

Being able to change one's vote has been on the wishlist for some time. I know Joe had been considering it, but didn't want to change something like that during the season.
